About the norm. If…read moreyou've ever been to a Michaels before, or better yet if you've ever been to multiple Michaels before, you'll find that they're all about the same. On the positive side, they have a great framing department, and everything you can think of when it comes to crafting and DIY hobbying. They also have a lot of fun and different baking items and molds to work with for holidays or parties. On the downside though, understaffed. Almost always. Even at their busiest times, which is usually the Christmas holiday season, always understaffed. At times, I've waited in line for up to 25 to 30 minutes to check out. You have a store full of people, you have six to eight registers, and you have two registers open with a line of 20 people deep. Would I go back? Yes, I would. And I will go back. Michael's is its own thing. I'm not saying there aren't other craft or hobby stores like it, but Michael's has what I need. Unfortunately though, I dread having to go there. At least during times when I know it's going to be busy. Here's a tip: If you're going to go to Michaels, make it during a weekday or non-peak time like a weekend or during the holiday season.

I pick stuff up from here for my nieces and nephews to keep them occupied with something other than tv! They always have good deals on canvas and other painting needs (good for me!) Definitely a better choice than your expensive art store. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have all craft needs - TONS of stickers. I'm definitely a fan :-)

I've even seen them find coupons for customers who haven't brought any themselves! The loss of 1 star is for the occasional register or cut table back-up. Only 1 star lost because it's 50/50 store/customer (not enough registers/ coupons not ready, indecision in cuts or what to do if there isn't enough fabric on the bolt). If you're in a hurry, it's a toss up if you'll get out in the time you planned.

When I got into the store, I was pleased to see that not many people were out and about. I was able to grab what I needed and get out of there quickly. I did need help finding specific material, and one of the workers took time to help me. Every employee I encountered was very friendly, despite the circumstances. They were there to help and wanted to help me find all that I was looking for. I had no idea how much home decor this store had! If we were not in the middle of a virus, I would have stayed around and looked through all the spring decor. They had some really great things! I am making a mental note to remember this once quarantine is over. I also appreciated the sale on the items needed to sew masks. I had looked into this store, as they were putting together mask kits for people to help sew masks for those employees in need. I really appreciate the store doing their part to help during this time of need. It was certainly a nice gesture!

When I stepped into Halloween City, I carried with me the excitement and hopefulness of a child. I…read moresoon had that ripped away from me, and was thrown headfirst into the Twilight Zone. My friend and I were thrilled when we found the perfect Poison Ivy costume I had been searching for. We checked the price--not too much. Tried it on--perfect! We went up to the register and suddenly things spiraled out of control. I couldn't believe how good of a deal I was getting, until the tally started to climb up past the seventies. "That doesn't seem right," I thought to myself. I checked the price tags again. What was happening? The price that had previously read $14.99 now said $26.99. And so on. What? This doesn't make sense! In a state of pure catatonia, I handed over my debit card, unable to dispute. As I left the store, exiting the Twilight Zone, my friend snapped me out of my stupor to find out what happened. I explained to her what happened, and she agreed that she had also checked the price of my costume pieces several times, not believing how reasonable the price was. We left feeling violated and confused. As I sank into the passenger seat, too traumatized to drive due to the emotional and financial rape I had just endured, I pulled out my receipt. Scanning it frantically, my eyes fell to the bottom, along with my heart: "ALL SALES ARE FINAL." My only attempt to explain what happened to me is that a store employee, or some sort of lowly criminal, hired to do the dirtiest of their work, followed us, learning our habits and innermost desires, searching for a way to crush our spirits in the most savage of ways. After lifting our hopes and spirits to the sky, he brought them to a crashing halt as he drugged us and switched the price tags on the items that we had been daydreaming about for months. The sad reality of this incident makes me feel as though I've succumbed to a dark, empty, existence in which I will never experience the joys of festive tricks and treats again. Also, my friend tried to buy a leotard marked $9.99, and the nigga tried to charge her $30.
