Had such a sad experience today, and am still shaken up…read more This is a longer review, but with respect to the other associate, I want to make sure I'm clear with where the issues originated. We rented some beautiful pieces for our show this month, and Marianne was amazing in getting everything set up and ready for us. When returning most of the items, I made the mistake of returning a shirt to the wrong location, so I had to come back the next week to complete everything. I was ready to pay an extension fee, but she was kind and allowed for that margin. We had a dress and lace-up shirt to bring back as well. My mother dropped off the dress first, and was told sternly by Nancy there would be a $40 damage fee. I wasn't sure what that was for, so when I stopped by to drop off the lace up shirt, I asked. I have a new costume team, so if mistakes were made, I want to make sure they know where they must improve. I have no problem paying the fee- prices here are very fair- but something happened after I asked what the fee was for. Nancy stormed away without speaking a minute, planted at another counter, and then proceeded to tear into me, loud enough for the room full of customers to hear, and potentially even the adjacent room. I think she somehow concluded I was trying to get out of a fee, which upset her. Despite me trying to communicate that wasn't the case, not only did she stop listening but she threw insults. A few of Nancy's choice sentences: "You are so snooty" "Your energy is killing me" "Has anyone ever told you that before? It's true" "You sound so snippy" "Everything you say is so passive aggressive" -I replied I was being genuine, she said, "I don't believe you." "I have been doing this for 40 years so if there's an issue I know it's not me." "Blip blip blip blip" (mimicking me talking and cutting me off for asking where to drop off the final shirt this week) Even if I was trying to negotiate damages, you still shouldn't use public shaming as a tactic. The customer is not always right, but I do believe that standards of mutual respect should be held in all interactions. Marianne was kind, professional, helpful, and honestly made the magic of clothing and performance come alive for me and my cast that came with me. Nancy was hostile, insulting, aggressive, and never even created space for response. I do have the interaction recorded, so all details can be corroborated. I'm not the person to post it (public shaming is not my method) but I'm happy to share the recording with the owners for reflection. I do hope moving forward that a space where artists can create that much magic together can also be a space of safety, gentleness, and mutual respect.

Disappointing Experience. Lack of Transparency & Customer Service…read more I paid $172 to have several dozen balloons filled with helium at the Cappels in Blue Ash for a 3/29/26 event. I called a week in advance to confirm they fill balloons purchased elsewhere. I was told yes, given a price estimate, and specifically told the store was closed on Sunday, so I would need to bring them in Saturday. (I was accused of calling the wrong store. I did not and my phone log is proof) I dropped the balloons off Saturday afternoon and paid in full. By the next morning, all but one balloon had deflated. Since I was told the store was closed Sunday, I had no way to address the issue before my event. When I followed up, I was told they don't guarantee balloons purchased elsewhere, a policy that was never disclosed. Only later after informing the owner that my negative review would be left on social media, did she offer a partial refund, which I declined, as the service completely failed and was left with no balloons for my event. Mistakes happen, I get it but it's the lack of transparency, accountability and willingness to back the customer when THEIR services obviously failed. Customers deserve clear communication and fair resolution. DO BETTER CAPPELS! I definitely will not return.

This store is located in Kenwood in the old ToysRUs building…read more The shopping area is much smaller than the actual store size. There are temporary walls set up to section off a small Halloween store inside the large building. There's not a huge selection but we were still able to find what we were looking for when we visited. The prices are over-priced on most items like other Halloween specialty stores but there's enough variety to find something in most price ranges. The workers were friendly also.

To whom it may concern, While visiting your Kenwood, OH…read more(7800 Montgomery Rd) location on 10/12/21, approximately 5:30pm EST, my 6-year-old daughter advised me that she emergently needed to use the restroom. Upon checking throughout the store, and finding no signage for restrooms, I investigated behind the "Employee Only" black curtain to seek out a restroom - I am familiar with the building as this was once housing a former Toys R Us. By Ohio law, a business is required to provide working restroom facilities for their employees, whether or not for public use (so I know there was a restroom on site). With no luck finding a restroom, I approached the front personnel to ask for a location, and was told they didn't have one we could use but could use the restroom of a Staples store next door!!? My first complaint is that an exception was not made for a 6-year-old little girl. Accommodations could have been made with an employee escorting us to the restroom if it was in fact "unsafe" as your employee stated to me. Secondly, the Staples business next door was not aware, nor appreciative of the fact that Spirit Halloween customers were entering their store just to use the restroom, and told to do so by Spirit Halloween employees. Very very poor customer service. And might I add that I requested the information of the store manager and/or email so that I may contact him/her directly with my concerns. I asked for this information 3 times, and upon approaching the employee ON MY WAY OUT, she was actually on the phone with the manager who instructed this employee to "kick us out" of the store. With a business such as this, with many children in the store at any given time, it is inappropriate and extremely inconvenient to not have a public restroom available for use on site. Seasonal or not, this is unacceptable, and we will not be returning to Spirit Halloween ever again. I plan on sharing this experience with several people on social media and other outlets in the hopes that your customers do not receive the same treatment.
