Casual. Comfy atmosphere. Friendly staff…read more We started with the Conch House sampler and swapped out the jalapeños for more shrimp and fritters. The sampler comes with two conch fritters, two coconut shrimp, two bacon wrapped items (which we replaced), cracked conch, and lobster and conch ceviche. I have to say this while it's fresh in my mind. The moment I had the lobster and shrimp ceviche, I got chills. Just an incredible burst of flavor. Tiny bit of heat at the end but nothing overwhelming. Just really, really good. The conch fritters are solid too. Chewy, not over breaded, and served with two sauces. One is sweet and one is more of a mayo style. There's also something that eats like a conch curry puff situation. I liked the cracked conch better personally, but both are worth trying. The coconut shrimp is also really good. The sampler also comes with tortilla chips on the side. The lobster bisque is delicious. Great flavor with little chunks of what I'm pretty sure is lobster throughout. Nothing more to add really. It's just good. The mahi and avocado dish has a nice seared taste to it. Not flame broiled exactly, but that kind of grilled sear that you want on fish. The pico de gallo is similar to what came with the ceviche, and it works really well here. All in at $75.

Although the menu was heavy with seafoods, I ordered a club wrap with fries. My lunch partner ordered conch tacos with tortilla chips. The wrap itself was wheat based. It included ham, turkey, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheese with an unknown sauce. It was good but the ham should've been sliced thinner rather than big chunks of ham. The fries were seasoned well. The conch tacos were good. The conch was fried and mixed with picol and red cabbage in a soft tortilla shell. The dish was accompanied by tortilla chips. All was tasty. The staff was knowledgeable. The prices were reasonable.

Enjoyed an unexpected evening at Sol by the Sea in Key Largo. Looking for ocean views and a seafood…read moreforward menu, my friend and I lucked out with a OpenTables reservation during golden hour. And let me just say- Sol delivered. We had an incredible oceanfront view just in time for the sunset. Service was attentive and friendly, the menu was minimal but we found some solid offerings. Firstly, I'd recommend skipping appetizers. The edamame hummus was a generous portion but certainly not worth the $21 price tag. The poké bowl and protein bowl were both generous servings. Beware- the poké bowl doesn't have rice! And "blackened" in Florida really just means seasoned, so if you're looking for charred mahi you better be specific! Overall, definitely check it out and make a reservation in advance!

It was extremely windy and cold.... We waited 30 minutes for a table. The restaurant did not appear to be that busy.... We went into the bathroom just to warm up When we ask about turning on the heaters we were told they had no gas.. then ask maybe they could lower the winter windows. .. we froze along with many others. Food. Slow coming out of the kitchen. Another 20-30 minutes before appetizers appeared.... Main course good. But at this point so cold even when wearing winter coats ... that I was miserable .. having lived in the keys I know in the winter we get cold snaps.... And many restaurants , prepare for those days by enclosing and heating the dining area ... Management should care for there customers better.

The restaurant is reasonably sized and tastefully, but simply, designed. The menu is concise, and you can always ask for something that isn't on it, and they will do their best to accommodate you. Lunch specials can fill you up without breaking the bank. Griot, or fried pig chunks, is their most well-known and traditional food. It's flavorful and a little oily, but you can add some pikliz, our Haitian chili sauce, and it will absorb it all, especially when served with rice, salad, and fried bananas or tostones. You can even switch up the sides.

Not sure if it's just a rough neighborhood, but we were clearly the first eat-in clients of the afternoon/evening. The hostess said they could accommodate our group of 7 and so we did end up staying, but our group had to do all the rearranging of tables, high chairs, and table wipe downs which was strange. Overall the service was just OK. One of our dishes didn't come out with the others which was unfortunate as everyone was done eating when it finally did come out. One nice thing was they prepared small plates of fries and ketchup for our youngest boys who weren't interested in the Caribbean fare offered. The food and presentation was nice, but seemed to be very overcooked and dry. Perhaps just an off-night for the staff. I was encouraged to see several takeout orders being picked up so seems like they're a local favorite.
