After discussing our remodel project with numerous Bay Area contractors, we feel fortunate to have chosen Arthur of Arthur Remodeling to remodel our kitchen and bath. Arthur demonstrated his knowledge and expertise in every contracting discipline, is an extremely competent and highly skilled craftsman who is patient, reliable and fair. Our project threw him a few challenges that he handled by contributing his own ideas that were ultimately time and cost saving as well as being excellent solutions. He has a very good eye and is not satisfied until the work is done correctly. He puts in the extra effort where ever it may be needed. He is on the job from beginning to end, owns his work and is proud of it, as he should be. We are very happy with the results. Bonus - he lives in San Francisco. We highly recommend Arthur for any remodeling needs. Thank you Arthur!

Our garage was in a dilapidated state: crooked walls, missing and destroyed sheetrock, naked studs, no insulation, pipes, and wires sticking out from every corner, and the laundry room was non-existent! After an exhausting search for the right contractor thru Yelp and many unexpected bids, we came across Arthur Remodeling. Based on excellent Yelp reviews, we noticed that the company mainly specializes in kitchens and bathrooms, but we decided to give it a shot and called for a bid anyway. Arthur showed up as scheduled and gave us a competitive bid, as well as several clever and exciting ideas on how to improve the space. We feel incredibly lucky that Arthur agreed to take on our ugly, scary garage renovation, and he managed to completely exceed our expectations, going above and beyond throughout the process! All the neighbors are now visibly jealous when we open our garage doors :) Arthur created an amazing laundry room, with a row of wall cabinets, installed a new utility sink with faucet/cabinet, gorgeous mosaic backsplash, new lighting, and laid stunning concrete tile floors. He even re-designed our staircase leading up to the laundry room from the house, bringing it up to code (the steps used to be too short before) and tiling it just as beautifully. Arthur insulated the entire garage ceiling and installed a new sheetrock everywhere, creating new walls and ceiling where it didn't even exist before (our upstairs floor is now a lot warmer). He also demoed the old storage space that was built-in / suspended off of the main garage ceiling, making the ceilings very low and the space was super cramped. He then cleverly relocated the storage into an alcove space above the foundation/retaining wall, where he installed rows of metal storage shelves and finished the space off with sliding doors. Now we have super tall ceilings, recess lights, and an overall bright, beautiful space, which looks way too gorgeous for a garage. Arthur also replaced/brought our electrical panel to code and relocated and concealed all the water, HVAC pipes, and electrical wiring so that we ended up having a clean-lined modern space. Last but not least, he refinished the floors in the main garage area, and they now look brand new. Lastly, Arthur helped us re-design the facade of our house, install new lighting and house numbers and made several other appealing improvements. We are absolutely blown away by Arthur's craftsmanship in every aspect of construction and his impeccable attention to every little detail! He is exceptionally knowledgeable, punctual, and honest, and his work is absolutely flawless. Attached are a few photos of our garage / laundry room. Thank you, Arthur! We really appreciate your hard work, and we love our new space!

Arthur recently remodeled two bathrooms for us and did a wonderful job. He is a true professional, with expertise in all the building trades. We are still amazed that one man could handle all the electrical, plumbing, carpentry, tile work, and painting by himself. Each and every aspect of the remodeling was top quality, with great attention to detail. Along the way, Arthur also offered very helpful design ideas for lighting, cabinets, and paint color choices. From beginning to end, Arthur was intent on making sure that the job was done right and that we were happy with all work. Our next project will be a kitchen remodel, and we plan to use Arthur for that job as well. As home owners for over thirty years, we have dealt with a number of skilled contractors, but Arthur is definitely the best.

    3-sided Gas Fireplace, Living Room

We were looking for someone to remodel our wood-burining fireplace, which we never used, as was in bad shape and outdated. Initially found Arthur Remodeling thru Google search and then looked it up on Yelp, so we decided to give it a try. Arthur and his crew ce in, demoed our fireplace in about 6 hrs ( it was a lot of hard work, which involved extracting the old brick/clay chimney that ran all the way from the ground floor up 2 stories high). The demo part looked scary, but Arthur reassured us that the end result will look great. And he was right!! Arthur and his 2 guys then built new framing per manufacturer's specs, dragged a brand new flue up to the roof and installed a modern , 3-sided fireplace, including re-finishing the walls around to match the rest of our living room. We are very happy with the results! Attaching a pic of the finished product. We would hire Arthur Remodeling again in a heartbeat!

To start off, we feel lucky to have found Arthur for our Master Bathroom remodel project. From the first moment he came into our house, he listened and understood our vision for our perfect oasis. He recommended some brilliant ideas along the way in terms of layout, design and functionality, which helped us achieve the ultimate dream space. Arthur's attention to detail and stellar work ethic are his most valued attributes you could only wish for in a contractor. He always finds and implements solutions for any type of issues he encounters, and his "can do" attitude enables him to exceed his clients' expectations at every turn. Arthur is extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled at all aspects of general construction, there is nothing that is outside of his ability to accomplish. Anyone that is able to land Arthur Remodeling for their project should consider themselves lucky! The photos of our space speak for themselves. Thank you Arthur!

I ended up hiring Arthur Remodeling for several projects around my house based on solid Yelp reviews. Arthur gave me a competitive bid for the work that needed to be done, and right away, I liked that he came across as very composed, honest, and reasonable. He replaced 6 old doors for me, including my front entry door, installed new French doors in my dining room, new garage-entry back door (all with new frames, and complex locks), as well as replaced 3 interior doors. Arthur suggested that since all the doors now had new trims, he could help upgrade/replace all the baseboards and window trims throughout the house. I ended up being quite happy with his idea. Still don't know now he managed this - but the way he removed the old baseboards (which I was worried about) left absolutely no damage to the walls! My window/door trims, and all the baseboards throughout the entire house now look absolutely seamless, as if it's all one single continuous piece of wood trim. Arthur did a fantastic job, and his superlarive quality of work and attention to detail truly differentiate him from other contractors I had worked with before. I highly recommend Arthur Remodeling and, without a doubt, would hire Arthur again myself for future projects.

Arthur has remodeled for us two bathrooms and a kitchen in San Francisco. I liked his enthusiasm and working together on the best fit solution. My bathroom vanity arrived in the wrong color that delayed my project - he patiently waited for the new vanity to arrive and helped with design and sizing. His work ethics are also exemplary, I certainly will hire him again for major improvements.

I was definitely persuaded by these reviews - and now will question every business that has 5 star reviews. Do your homework and don't be fooled. Project took much longer than what it should have because they were disorganized and would forget certain things (the foreman would even admit that the PM should have told me certain things!) that I would have imagined a contractor had down pat in terms of sequencing. They use some subcontractors and you are at the mercy of their schedules. They just are not organized (you will do a lot of the reminding, checking in, following up, and certain things still may not happen). They failed inspections meaning more cost (it is their job to pass these! It says this in any contract!) If it seemed as though I was questioning something, the PM got defensive and sometimes unprofessional, gaslighting me in a very aggressive manner. I saved the communication, in fact. The people I worked with directly were young and it showed in the almost-too-casual style of communication and lack of professionalism. I surrendered towards the end and just wanted the project done and everyone gone. I feel completely foolish that I went with the significantly higher estimate thinking it would offer a smooth, superior experience. The actual people who did the work worked hard though and did nice work - hence the two stars. But at the end of the day, it's actually hard to enjoy the work as I am reminded by the months of bad experiences - up to the very end. You can find more experienced contractors out there for equal quality of workmanship and for a more competitive price. I am using a different contractor now for other work at the property - it's a 180 degree difference - they have a dedicated team for my project, meaning time to completion is more accurate and on time; they have a dedicated person to procure the finishes and fixtures, not myself; they are way more organized and even provided me a timeline of what to expect and communicate with me what time they are showing up and what progress was made that day (!!); they are bringing a truly expert eye with attention to detail that ELEVATES the space and are teaching me to ask things I didn't even know I should KNOW to ask; and most importantly, I feel truly comfortable asking questions without defensiveness and aggressive steamrolling in their answers. I received none of this level of care or expertise with MHR, and I want you to know that you should expect these things!!!

But anyway, on the date of the site visit, the guy come without any tool for measurements and for note taking. The guy just spent like 20 mins walking around the house and said he will get back to us with a quote. But I never hear back from them since. I think the company is very picky on clients and like to see if they have enough money to pay for their service. If they think we cannot afford it, they will just cut all the communications. Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

Overall, the project went well, and we're happy with the final results. Bryan, our foreman, was a strong asset to the project. Even though he was managing multiple jobs at the same time, his responsiveness and willingness to go out of his way to address our concerns made a big difference. Because we were home throughout the process, we were able to catch issues early and communicate them directly to Bryan, who consistently followed through to resolve them. What Went Well: * The tile and flooring subcontractors were excellent - their craftsmanship and attention to detail truly stood out. * Bryan, our foreman, was responsive to texts and phone calls, listened to our concerns, and made sure they were addressed. He even designed a bi-fold closet door for us, and helped pick up all the material to build it. * Bryan also took the initiative to handle several unfinished items himself, which we really appreciated. * The post-build cleaners were top-notch and left the space in pristine condition. * Throughout the project, everyone we interacted with was professional, courteous, and conscientious. There were no conflicts or issues, which made the experience comfortable for us. Areas for Improvement: * The timeline was a pain point. While we were originally told the project would take 6-8 weeks, it ended up stretching to 12 weeks. * The design process fell short of expectations. Because Prime's in-house designers weren't available, our design work was outsourced. We only received a full design package for the master bathroom. As a result, we ended up creating our own renderings for the other rooms to help communicate our vision to the team. That said, we were very happy with the design and material selections for the master bathroom they did complete. We just wish the same level of attention and design support had been provided for the rest of the project. * At times, resource availability was limited, likely due to workers being assigned to multiple jobs. This led to workflow inefficiencies and delays. Toward the end of our renovation, our foreman Bryan had to personally step in to complete several tasks, such as installing faucets, shelving, and baseboards. He managed to get it done in between site visits and meetings, which we appreciated, but it also highlighted a lack of available crew to close out the project. Despite these few challenges, the quality of the work met our expectations. We appreciated the team's effort and the final outcome.
