I read the reviews and knew for the worst to the best an idea of what to expect, and I thought that I would give it a shot. Initially, I called and left a voice message and Leo did call back and we spoke and he gave me what I thought was a fair quote and let me know that it would be $2 a letter and a $20 minimum which I thought was fine. He also let me know the hours of operation. I did show up the next day at about 10:45am where he failed to mention to me that the one metal he doesn't do is Tungsten - which seems like an important thing to mention. This should have been asked on the phone. This just irked me because I didn't have a lot of time to begin with to step out of work to run this errand then have to find some place else. They also don't have website that references this, and I can only wonder now if he turned me away because he didn't feel like doing my $20 work. If that's the case then that's fine because I am also then entitled not to refer this place to others as well. I didn't find the other place that I went to instead to have a problem with engraving on Tungsten. read more

Shoot, it's been awhile since I've written a review. Let's get back into the swing of things here. Scene: My fiance and I about to be married on February 7, 2014, and we're to leave the Chicago area on a flight by January 31. Her wedding band came engraved from James Allen. I got my wedding band elsewhere, and had procrastinated for weeks. No, more like months. It's January 27, and I start panicking, just a bit. A few calls here and there to places in Milwaukee (my current city), and no real luck. Finally, I call my jeweler friend who is more of a designer and ask for suggestions. Without thinking, she says, "Yeah, call Art Engravers" just across the street from me... A rt Engravers is located at 29 E Madison in an unassuming building. R ight as you walk in, go straight towards the elevator and hit Lucky 13. T hat's right, this building actually has a 13th floor even though it's historical! E ngraving "Changberg" inside my wedding band was simple for the guy. N ot to mention, pretty cheap. G oodness gracious, he was done in less than 24 hours, and did it for 15$. R eally friendly guy who looks comical since he's usually got his jewelers glasses on A ctually - he does a lot more than just rings. Also does awards, plaques, trophies V erily (hey, V words are hard, ok?), I'll have some nice knives engraved as well E xcellent work, though my experience is limited only to engraving a ring. When it came time to pick out rings for our wedding, a friend recommended Art Engravers to us. We had an idea of what we wanted to do but weren't sure if it could be done or how to approach the situation.The challenge .... was to get something to match the engagement ring I gave to me soon to be wife & have something made for her to compliment the engagement ring. The engagement ring was Celtic knot work. Leo (owner) referred me to a fellow jeweler within the Jeweler's Row building who specialized in Celtic designs and she had one that was perfect so I purchased that from her. While this was going on, Leo was designing something for my wife. They came up w/ delicate bands that would "lock" into both sides of the engagement ring.Maybe a week later we picked up the custom bands & they were awesome. We had a great experience w/ Art Engravers. The service, the pricing and the quality helped ease some of the pre-wedding stress. read more

I got a really good experience with Art Engravers. The price is very competitive, it was done very fast and it's superb quality.

I was extremely disappointed in the engraving...I won't bother going into the multitude of slights to craftsmanship...but, the fact that cup's decorative box was covered with soiled fingerprints is indicative to the care taken in the work. read more

Just tried asking a simple question...response was "I guess" in a snotty tone. I was trying to see if Art Engravers could possibly add a line to a glass etched retirement plaque we already purchased but was greeted with a snotty condescending attitude. Just hung up. I searched online find good review on yelp. I called over the phone said it will be around $10. I sent someone over to the shop the person said it is $15. After they finished job we went there pick it up come out $30 charge because it is not flat piece have to hand engrave instead of machine. Why they don't carefully check it when they take in this piece for engraving. I felt it is very rough and unprofessional service. It was not good experience for their service. You have no choice after they done the job paid double charges. read more

9 years ago my husband went to Leo for an engagement ring for me. The engraving is beautiful! So we went back to him for our wedding bands. We gave him some Norwegian Rosemaling designs for him to work with and we were very pleased with the results! I recently needed both of my rings re-sized and the engagement ring repaired (my fault). I picked them up yesterday - they look brand new and I can get them over my knuckle again. read more

I went to Art Engravers to have some names engraved for business card holders to give as gifts. Art was very friendly and offered good advice in terms of placement of writing. Incredible craftsmanship, speedy turnaround time and great deal. My fiancé was given his father's wedding band and will be using it for his band. It was engraved in 1961 when his mom gave it to his dad and when I brought to Art Engravers, they were able to match the script perfectly with our initials and wedding date. such a great deal and it was done the very next day - would go to them again in a heartbeat! read more

Skip the jewelers, and go right to the source. Most Jewelers do engraving themselves at a higher cost, or send their work to Art Engravers and charge you a mark up. A nice jeweler gave me the referral. Ive had wedding cake knives and a ring engraved. Good work for honest rates. Nice guy too. read more

Awesome. If you're in the Loop area, you should not use any other engraver. Fantastic work and service!
