Having just moved to Maricopa, I was looking for an Easter Buffet (brunch) for my very large family. We found Arroyo Grille and I can't give it enough stars! The food choices were varied and so good, there were activities for the kiddos, an Easter egg hunt and even the Easter bunny made an appearance. We had lunch after playing 18 holes. Our server was the barkeep, and he's not a Mr.Personality. They had another regular server but she was busy with three groups of golfers who were busy catching up on their Buzz. The spinach salad with grilled chicken was very average. The Town of Maricopa is the home of poor quality fast food places! Not much there, unless you really like that kind of low cost fast food. Grille 109 at The Southern Dune Golf Club is a true restaurant and a break from fast food. Your items are cooked to order at a reasonable cost. Unlike fast food places, the Grille 109 restaurant does update their menu with new offerings. On Friday January 11, 2013, my wife and I had an excellent lunch here. My wife tried something new that was offered-the grilled cheese. What could be new to a grilled cheese? First three choices of bread, then there's the perfect bacon, tomato and sliced avocado all grilled to perfection! Along with a side of Fries for under $10! I ordered chicken fingers with fries along with a diet Pepsi. Our total bill was $23+ tip. I highly recommend Grille 109 and will return in the near future as it's not "far" from Town. read more

The food is fresh and delicious, I'm pretty sure I've tried everything on the menu from breakfast to dessert and there's not one thing I didn't like. The whole family loves it. Adding to the beautiful scenery of sprawling green courses is an atmosphere of casual and relaxing interaction. The staff provides personal and quick service and seem to have fun and be friends with everyone. The prices are reasonable and I love that you can use your Harrah's rewards to pay. Not only is Chef Neil's menu selection out of this world but the revolving tap selection is always filled with seasonal favorites and the ambiance is second to none. The prices are completely favorable and there's nowhere in this fast-food filled town I'd rather eat than at Arroyo Grille! As a fan of awesome beer, I love that we can get our etched-glass ramblers filled for 16$ too! The fish fry on Wednesday is incredible. My husband and I tried this place Friday evening, and I have to say, I can't imagine where the lack of 5 star reviews is on Arroyo Grille. If you think there isn't a decent place in this town to get a steak, like we did, you are WRONG, read on! We just so happened to arrive at the Arroyo the day they introduced their new menu items. As well as the eve of the grand fall reopening, of the freshly over seeded, velvety green golf course that surrounds your entire fine dining experience. For us it was like stepping out of the desert for the evening and into a sweet oasis. Perhaps it wasn't merely our perfect timing, the food was excellent as well. We started with a basket of Aloha shrimp we were told was a new item. The shrimp was cooked just right, coated with a coconut breading and came with a pineapple cream sauce. The hubby had his Ribeye cooked Med. and was very pleased. It was served exactly how he had ordered it (big plus) and it was juicy and tender (AZ grown beef by the way). I had the Lobster Ravioli and I WILL be going back for more! It was tossed in a creamy white pesto sauce and served with garlic bread. So delicious! Was just what this girl was looking for! Paired it with a nice glass of white wine. Hubby liked that they keep a rotating selection of premium draft beers. We stayed to split a piece of chocolate cake for desert and sat out by the fire on the patio afterwards. Hands down the absolute BEST place to eat in the area. You can choose to eat indoors or outdoors and both places have amazing fire places that are perfect for those cool winter evenings! If you choose to go inside, you walk into a cozy dining area complete with beautiful wood floors! The perfect size to enjoy an intimate meal with your significant other or a group of friends. The staff are so friendly and attentive you almost feel like you're just hanging out at home. Chef Neil is an amazing chef! Ive yet to order anything I haven't absolutely loved! I ate here today with my husband and son. I had the white fish tacos which were pretty good; the portion was large (way to much for me... But a good value), the fish was good, not too fishy, the black bean salsa was delicious, but the flour tortilla was a little tough. My husband had the BBQ Brisket sandwich with onion rings, both which he liked very much and said he would definitely have again. My son had the kids bacon, eggs and pancakes, all of which he liked. The one drawback was the FLIES! For some reason they got really bad just as we were finishing our meal. Overall this is a place I would recommend and visit again. read more

This is Maricopa's version of fine dining, a step up from the multitude of fast food and pizza places that we have, but not a very big step up. We went for dinner on a Friday night to celebrate Father's day a little early. My father had the prime rib and I had a fish dish. Both came with a salad. The portions were decent and everything tasted almost as good as home cooking leftovers, nothing special. The fish was a little overcooked and kind of stringy and chewy, the "risotto" was really just previously cooked white rice with a lot of cheese mixed in. Prices were reasonable for the amount and quality of the food. Despite a nearly empty restaurant, the service was pretty bad as none of the employees we encountered seemed happy to be there and they were not trying too hard to hide that fact. I overheard the server tell someone else about wine specials, but when I asked about what those were she said, "Oh, it's just our usual wine list," which she didn't bother to bring us even after I asked about that. She also audibly sighed every time she approached guests and seemed pained to be polite. I am usually a very laid back diner and generous tipper who leaves a minimum 20%, but I only left 10% this night. I might go back here to try a salad or something easier since the views are so nice and there really are no other choices in Maricopa for real food. However, I think it's worth it to drive to Ahwatukee or Chandler where I can get more of a dining experience with quality food and enjoyable service. This is truly a hidden gem because many people who have lived here for years have no clue they have a local sit down restaurant with incredible views and excellent fare. They are open for breakfast and lunch daily and have dinner Wednesday through Saturday. Go for the fish fry on Wednesday and Prime Rib on Friday. great food--not the same old, same old stuff. donna was a great server and we enjoyed her explanations of the food. it was just a tad pricey by about 20% but it was good. my wife and i liked the fact that the portions were not overwhelming and we could eat and be full without getting a carry out bag. we saw a coyote standing near the tee about 20 yards away and also a rabbit down on the fairway. this place is just 2 and one half miles west of maricopa on highway 238 and is called grille 109. it is newly remodeled and very nice and comfortable. we loved it! read more

Went here (Grille 109) for lunch and had a great meal. I had the Southwestern Tuna Melt with fries and a Diet Pepsi. The bread was a thick cut sourdough bread toasted perfectly. Huge chunks of tuna and green chiles with a slice of white cheddar cheese. It was a huge sandwich and I would order it again. The fries were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Our waitress was really good and made sure our drinks were always filled. I would love to come here for breakfast or lunch again when I am back in town visiting friends. read more

I've tried this place once for lunch and once for dinner. The food is tasty and the atmosphere is very nice with wonderful views of the mountains and golf course. The downside is the cost for what you get and the amount of flies in the building. Seriously there is an ungodly amount of flies buzzing around you while you eat. Flies landing in your drink and on your food is enough to take away a star or two. read more

Breakfast the day after Thanksgiving with a family group of 7 - meh. We were the only customers. Five were served while two waited another 8-10 minutes, which meant the polite ones among us let their meals grow cold. My scrambled eggs were lukewarm immediately after being served (I wasn't a polite one), my hashbrowns were a mere crust about the thickness of a piece of cardboard, and my four slices of of sourdough toast weren't warm enough to melt butter. My three slices of bacon were crispy, which is how I like bacon. I immediately asked for the hashbrowns to be replaced with something resembling potatoes, not a brown crust. My husband's side order of hashbrowns were about the same, with a bit more actual potato (white, not dark brown) in the center, but that $3 side couldn't have had more than 1/4 cup of potatoes. We both had our inedible crusts replaced, and the second go-round was more appetizing and tasted fine, but the quantity left a lot to be desired. Service was wonderful. I would go back for the friendly, warm, professional service and the delightful scenery just outside the large windows. Maybe lunch would be better - I'm willing to give it a try because this type of full-service restaurant with such a great view out on the golf course is rare in Maricopa. read more

On Saturday, March 9th we visited Arroyo Grille in Maricopa and were greeted in an extremely rude manner by the manager Ryan B. We arrived at approximately 5:30 and Ryan proceeded to bark at us, "Do you have reservations?" We said no and he turned away from us. One of the wait staff showed us to a table. From the wine list we ordered a bottle of wine. The young lady was polite and courteous. She responded back to us "they were out of stock on this wine". So, we ordered another bottle from the wine list. Apparently, she reported to him that they were out of the wine we 1st ordered and he became visibly angry with her, while glaring at me. This continued for several minutes until I put my fork and knife down and glared back at him. This went on another 2-3 minutes, till I worded my lips to him saying "You have a problem with me?" This upset my wife whose birthday we were celebrating. We finished our dinner, did not order any more drinks, dessert or coffee. I requested the check, and it was brought. As I looked it over I noticed the wine was charged at $55. Clearly on the wine list, it was $45. (I suspect it was changed by someone, anyone want to take a quess?) The wait staff was aghast and changed it immediately. What was his motive? To punish us for not making reservations? We have been there many times without making reservations. Wouldn't it have been easier if he said "All our tables are reserved tonight; however I can give you a table at 7-8 or 8:30 then it would be our choice to either sit at the bar, drink and have some appetizers or go to another establishment disappointed, but not pissed off. Did he intimidate me? Not a bit. Did he ruin my evening? Almost. Was he abusive to some of the wait staff? That was obvious to all. Would I go back there again? Absolutely, the bartender, chef, food and wait staff is terrific. However, if I see that manager in there I will go somewhere else, disappointed, but not pissed off. We are not snow birds and eat at the Arroyo Grille all during the year. The staff has always been more than friendly and we have always recommended them. One of the usual Saturday night specials is Prime Rib Roast. According to the manager you must now call before noon if you want them to reserve a piece for you. read more

I have been going here and bringing my customers here for years, last Sunday was the kicker.. Funny it took aver 20 minutes to be waited on . the menus were dropped off it took my wife after 15 more minutes to go up to the bar and ask one of the 3 that were standing there if they could take our order. I Ordered a simple breakfast 2-eggs with biscuits and gravy. Wow.. I ask you who puts sugar in gravy??? I had to ask the server to come over and i asked her why the gravy was sweet. she said that it wasnt but shed ask. One of the workers asked the cook if he put sugar in the gravy and he said he was using honey coated bacon so he never tasted it.. after they tasted it they said it was not good and took it off my bill, but never apologize or tried to make it better. I guess the hundreds of dollars i spent there over the years mean nothing.. not going back.. read more

Great night at Arroyo tonight! The food was great as always and we got to enjoy live music by a local artist, Laura Walsh. The entertainment was excellent! I hope to see live options again soon. The restaurant planned for the event and the service was superb. We had a party of 13 and celebrated our granddaughters 20th birthday. Chris waited on us and was attentive and insured we had what we needed. I had the prime rib medium rare and it arrived perfect. With 13 people, it's hard to get us all served at one time, but they did a great job. For Maricopa, I find this to be one of the best locations for a little more upscale dining. read more

I just went here for lunch for the first and last time with my husband. The restaurant was pretty empty, only one other table when we got there, but the service was still not very good. They were not very friendly towards us, maybe because we were not golfing? They seemed to be nicer to the golfers. My husband has the fish sandwich, which was actually pretty good. I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich, and it was not good. The sandwich was dry, some of the meat was very fatty and some was so tough I couldn't bite through it. It is supposed to come with coleslaw on top of the sandwich, and I ordered it on the side....Thank goodness I did because I think it was rotten and spoiled. I actually had to spit it into my napkin, which I've never done in a restaurant before. Oh, and our food sat in the window for about 15 minutes before our server brought it to us. It is great that the Ak-Chin community took over this golf course and restaurant. It originally only allowed men. The tribe opened it up with the feeling of inclusion. The food is above average.
