My sister and I have been matcha hunting to see what cafe offers the best matcha. Aroom's matcha is pre-made and pre-sweetened (think 2 oz of vanilla syrup, which may work well for large catered orders or high-volume service. However, for customers who prefer unsweetened drinks such as myself, reducing the amount of matcha to compensate for the sweetness is not appropriate. I prefer 0 sweetness and that is not something they can do. Customers are paying premium prices for drinks made to order, and the inability to properly customize undermines that experience. The ambiance is also amazing, I love how chill everything is and the staff was knowledgeable in what drink to order. We went with the cloudy matcha & salted coffee. I previously have only gone to the Wallingford location, but I loved this location a lot!! The space was larger and seemed like a great environment to get work done. While I was in line to get my drink I kept seeing so many yummy dishes being brought out. I definitely need to come back and check out their food menu. I love their black sesame topping, and I tried it on their matcha this time. The gloomy matcha was really good, but I think I prefer the sesame on the coffee. aroom's waterfront location is huge and bright! i love the vibes in there. there were people studying and chatting. their staff were attentive in making the space clean. my bestie and i got their gloomy matcha and pandan matcha. the black sesame cream top on the gloomy matcha was intriguing in a good way. however, it didn't pair too well with the matcha in my opinion because the cream top overpowered the matcha. the pandan cream top for the pandan matcha was a subtle flavor compared to the black sesame cream top. overall, i wasn't the biggest fan of the actual matcha, but their cream tops are yummy! read more

I came here around 2pm on a Tuesday and it was quite busy! All the tables and single seating were filled! I waited a couple of minutes and was able to snag a table just before about 10-15 people came in so just my luck I was able to grab a table before then! The staff were very nice and when you pick your drinks up they let you know that if you don't love your drink you can come back to the counter for them to remake it to your liking which I thought was super thoughtful! I got the banana matcha which they only serve iced, which is fine for me because I very rarely drink hot matcha. I don't usually love banana/artifical banana flavor if it's not an actual banana however the banana cream paired so nicely with the matcha. I am not a matcha purist by any means so I do like my matcha a little sweet and this was the perfect sweetness for me! Not too sweet at all (best compliment for desserts and drinks if you're Asian). I would definitely come back to get this again and would love to try the other matcha, coffee, and food they have to offer! read more

I loved how the pandan sweet cream blended with the earthy matcha, it wasn't overpowered by the sweetness and the drink was very smooth. Stopped by here while on our way to catch a boat for the locks tour on our son's second birthday. We had about half an hour to spare and it's right by the pier (like a two minute walk.) They were fairly busy but after a while several people who ordered after us got their orders. We only ordered two drinks and a croissant. They use a digital system and give out buzzers so I'm not sure how they lost our order. My husband decided to go wait by the boat since it was nearly departure time. They finally called me over after about 15+ minutes and said they lost the order and asked me what it was. I explained that I needed to catch a boat in ten minutes and I needed a refund. They were mildly apologetic but then insisted they could get the order done quickly. It really seemed like they didn't want to hold up the line by giving me a refund since there was only one register. There's no outside drinks allowed on the tour but I stupidly agreed to just have them make two black cold brews rather than the signature drinks we wanted to try. I didn't want to be difficult and they clearly didn't have it together. The workers making drinks made them but the person expediting said she had other orders to hand out. I waited as her coworkers urged her to just hand them over to me???? I'm sure I seemed frazzled as I was stressed by the situation but I wasn't telling them off or anything. It was really bad customer service. I took the cold brews and ran over since it was less than ten minutes until departure. Husband chugged his. I drank like two sips then tossed it. Coffee tasted good but I essentially threw away $25. First and last visit. They owe me a refund. On a positive note, the locks tour was wonderful. read more

I had been to the original location before and love their matcha so I was excited to hear they opened the waterfront location. The spot is super cute and makes for a great excuse to walk by the waterfront too! The energy was great with friend catching up, people working and an all around good vibe. I tried to pandan matcha and enjoyed it. I like that they also do customizations and even let you come back to change something after tasting the drink. Located right on the waterfront across the street from Ivar's in the Maritime Building, so pretty new! I've had the vegan peanut butter topped coffee 2x's already...once cold delivered to me by a friend & once hot, at the establishment itself. I don't typically like peanut butter but it is their only vegan choice so I took it & I'm so glad I did, I LOVE IT! It's nutty, almost like a sesame flavor & it's delicious either way. My only wish is that the would offer cups or mugs for dine in service as I do not like hot TO GO cups(my body doesn't need anymore microplastics) as I prefer hot drinks...next time I'm going to ask if they'll let me use my personal travel container...I wouldn't even mind a small up charge for this option..,the drink is THAT GOOD! The girls at the counter were so sweet, knowledgeable & helpful making our selections(took my aunties there before we hot the exhibit next door). They have a pastry case with mostly sweets but I chose the savory pinwheel & let them heat it for me, YUMMMMMMM!!! Think flaky croissant like texture sprinkled generously with everything bagel seasoning. I shared with my Aunties...perfect little bite with our coffee. We didn't really have time for the hot dishes...but the table next to us was being served as we were leaving...I definitely want to go back! I am so happy Aroom opened up a Downtown Seattle location! My fiancé and I stopped by before hopping onto a ferry to Bainbridge as Aroom is right across from the ferry terminal. I got the croissant banh mi and salty coffee and my fiancé got the almond pastry and a hot gloomy matcha (matcha with black sesame cream top). The croissant banh mi is such a fun concept and was delicious! We did have to wait a bit for the almond pastry to come out. I think because it was busy they had forgotten it, but when it did come out it was good and still warm :) This was my first time getting the salty coffee and it reminded me of the salty cream coffees I got when I visited Vietnam, so tasty and strong! They do play pop music at a moderate volume over the speakers, but it was still easy to have conversations. It's also kind of a maze to get to the restroom, but there are plenty of signs to guide you there! read more

I wish they had more comfortable seating- some of the seating are awkward and hard half-height chairs. I live nearby and I'm excited that this place finally opened up! Service was extremely fast. My coconut coffee came out in a few minutes and the salted egg meatballs came out shortly after. The coconut coffee is amazing. It's your typical strong Vietnamese phin coffee with a creamy and strong coconut flavor with just the right amount of sweetness. Most places don't have a super strong coconut flavor but Aroom definitely meets my standards. It reminds me of the coconut coffee from Luckin Coffee. Definitely my new favorite place to get coconut coffee. Also the coffee itself is extremely strong! A few sips and I can feel the caffeine rush. Maybe next time I'll get decaf The food is also very yummy. Salted egg yolk meatballs with a tomato sauce(?) and bread. The bread tastes so good dipped in the sauce and the meatballs with the salted egg yolk is perfectly seasoned. Not to mention, the beautiful presentation and fast service. Ordered a hot sesame latte and chocolate croissant and it was the best sesame latte I ever had. I could actually taste the black sesame and it was so smooth, sweet and creamy. No bits/chunks definitely a 10/10. Croissant was also surprisingly really good too super buttery and flaky. Would totally come here again. Had about 45 mins until our ferry left and even though there was a long line we got everything we ordered in less than 10 mins. Very nice people too! read more
