Macchiato

My favorite go-to coffee spot. Usually I get a quad shot of espresso .. times 2. That keeps well in my airtight coffee thermos for a few days when I travel. Today it's a macchiato.. special treat. Tho I wish they still had ceramic mugs. Paper changes the flavor .. Relaxing out front on the bench in the sun. It's still a sweet spot. I used to come to the sit-inside area to prep trips or play cribbage with my cousin. It's quiet today .. often the afternoons are for the high school and local college students. It's not quite as neat and trim as it used to be but it's still very good. Drive through or sit inside.

They were very good. If you get a plain bagel with cream cheese check the bag for cream cheese. But overall really good.

The coffee was good but the environment was way to loud to sit down and enjoy your beverage. The music was almost deafening.

She was absolutely lovely to work with! Very responsive to emails and phone calls, and super flexible and helpful with pairing flavors for us. She made a variety of mini-cupcakes and frostings for our tasting and each were delicious--even the margarita cake! As someone who does not like chocolate, I would have eaten the chocolate ganache frosting with gusto. We ended up choosing traditional flavors: red velvet with cream cheese frosting for the bottom (12") and top (6") tiers as well as vanilla with chocolate ganache for the middle (8"). We had just shy of 60 guests at our wedding and were able to take the entire top tier home. She understood the type of design we wanted for our cake (very simple and clean, which required the use of fondant). Our guests enjoyed the taste, though they thought it was "a bit sweet" (probably due to the fondant). The style was what was in my head but not executed as cleanly as I would have liked--in the days before Pinterest, brides didn't have 1,000 images to show their baker, after all--but I was still happy with the price, taste, and service and would recommend her to friends. I'm pleased to see that she now has her own storefront. I have yet to visit, but plan to rectify that soon.

Roots Cafe Maine - Is this a gluten free bagel? Cause I didn't order that

BLUF: This is a gluten free place, not vegan. They have great options for everyone, and a great…read morevibe with lots of parking. I parked behind Roots and realized it's a super cute place as I walked up. It shares the building with Green Tree Ministries. They might be one in the same? But they are definitely related. I walked in and saw all these books on shelves, and upon closer inspection, there was little cards in the shape of business cards that were for the taking. Each with a different Christian saying or a verse from the Bible. There was something for everyone. This wall of books goes between Roots Cafe and Green Tree Ministries... so I suspect. Well, I did grab a book ("Why Business Matters to God" by Jeff Van Duzer) and a iced Sugar Plum Latte (latte with a lovely purple blackberry vanilla foam). And I also got some chicken meatballs that were yummy and warm. The service was super nice. I thought the barista was so well hidden back there, though, I prefer when you can see the barista crafting beverages, I just find it neat. But that's okay, the ambiance of the place is warm. There is a huge meeting table, there is two different bar areas to sit, there's a couch corner, and tables. It's winter so I didn't see the outdoor seating, but I am sure it's neat. Food was good, coffee was great, service was kind, bathroom was super clean, parking was easy. I mean what's not to like? I LOVE that it's Christian. I felt so included and loved. I enjoyed the ambiance and the people around me. Some reading bibles and doing study, others just enjoying the good food. I also had a brownie that was quiet tasty.

I wanted to love this place as it's a Christian based cafe. I was very disappointed to find they…read moredon't have much of anything for vegans. I tried the avocado toast only to discover that it was covered in butter after I specifically told them I had an allergy. My daughter said that the crepe she had was okay. I found the coffee to be very blah. The DF milks don't blend well (don't have this issue anywhere else). The positives - the building is beautiful. Staff is very nice. I love all the books and stuff. There's a lot of potential but I will only be back to visit the book store sadly until they make some major improvements. They should take some notes from other bakeries like Wild Oats in Brunswick!!

You scream. I…read morescream. We all scream... for site made ice cream on a working Maine dairy farm ! This is a special place... a farm on a hill with their own farm shop featuring glass-bottled milk, sandwiches, and most importantly... Ice Cream ! Starting mid-April or so, they open up "The Barnyard" which is a nice little petting zoo for the kids... and occasionally a "Goat Yoga" spot for adults... which is just so uniquely crazy it almost makes me wish I did yoga. Not into yoga...? I get you. Lucky for us, they also have a hardware store / lumber yard, so you could feasibly come for Mocha Chip and stay for the 4x4 milled posts, and that's not an experience you'll soon get at a national big-box lumber store. Or a Baskin Robbins, for that matter. This place is an experience. The farm is gorgeous, the staff are friendly, the animals are fun, the lumber yard is definitely there, and the product... well that's where it's at... it's excellent. There are a few working dairy farms like this one dotted around the state, and I encourage you to check out each and every one. Smiling Hill Farm is that extra special sort of place, where it's only a few miles drive outside of Portland, but it feels worlds away and it's so, so worth the effort to get to. They also have ready-to-go quarts in the freezer, their various dairy offerings, and rotating, seasonal farm shop fare. Support your local farmers! Also... I've found the local barn cats to be super friendly and just a treat to hang with. YMMV

We came for the ice cream... We weren't disappointed. Well, I was a tiny bit just because the ginger ice cream I wanted to try was sold out, but that's okay. The ladybug (strawberry with chocolate chips) and butter pecan were both delicious. It was a nice day to walk around and enjoy the farm while finishing our treat.

I…read morehave seen stuff about their cakes through social media and they looked good, just never made our way here. That changed after seeing their limited time Biscoff Cookie Butter flavored cake. My wife and I really wanted to try this flavor. Located in the busy Scarborough Walmart plaza area. Located right next to Jersey Mike's with plenty of parking nearby. Walking inside you will instantly have your eyes catching all of the delicious looking Bundt cakes staring back. They have a huge variety of flavors available including the Biscoff speciality and another limited flavor "New-Fashioned Marble". Due to wanting to try both of the limited flavors we decided to grab one of each of their smaller sized cakes aptly named Bundtlets. The staff member was friendly and it took no time to receive the cakes. Gladly we were able to enjoy the cakes once we got home and they were great! Both cakes were excellently made and the smaller sized ones were perfect to enjoy with no leftovers. The frostings used leaned quite sweet so for larger cakes it maybe would have been too much. They are limited flavors but if either one sounds tempting to you make your way here before they go away! Look forward to returning in the future to try out more flavors. Worth giving a try!
