Came as a party of 2 craving Thai dinner after a Monday at Dolores Park -- we walked over after sunset and received prompt and friendly service immediately. The interior is cozy and relaxed, with gentle lighting and animal sculptures and decorations. Folk/indie music was playing in the background. Ordered thai tea + 3 dishes to share: *Tom Yum- 5/5 ! Delicious, had more tomato flavor than other Tom Yum soups I've had. Perfectly fragrant, spicy, and sour. while not thee best I've had, definitely very yummy and we enjoyed it. *Pork Larb (laab moo) - 5/5, wish the portion was slightly larger but that's only because it was so yummy :') the textures, toasted rice powder and fresh flavors were thoroughly enjoyed. *Pad Kee Mao- 5/5 can't go wrong with a good pad kee mao. had the perfect amount of sauce and meat/veggies/noodle ratio. Every dish we ordered was spicy but not too spicy; i enjoy spice and think the slight spiciness was perfect and not distracting from other flavors. The bill was around $60, not including tip. Definitely reasonable for SF and worth it for the amount, quality, and deliciousness of the food. Seems to be a women-run business, props! We love to support SF's small businesses and this is a great one to go to for Thai food. A large portion of the meat was difficult to eat, leaving very little quality steak. I've been ordering from Aroi for a while now and usually get the spicy eggplant. Tonight's spicy eggplant didn't have one chili in it and was so bland. The rice was overcooked and gluey. I'm disappointed as I want to support this business. I called the restaurant to let them know there was zero spice and said "Oh well, the chef must have forgotten". Bummer. read more

Wow. The food was good. As others said, it is "Thai casual", which means it can be your go-to "I don't want to cook tonight" / "I need some comfort food option" option. I did a pickup, but everyone was nice when I walked in. Place looked good. I went in at 7pm and everyone that was sitting looked to be having a good time. I got the green curry with pork at medium spice and it was pleasantly spicy. It was under "wow, I need some milk", but likely beyond what my light-spice mother would care for. Ordered Tom Kha, was good. Also ordered pad see ew (sp?), and pork eggplant. Both dishes were under par for us. Seemed like the the Pad see ew was left in the pan too long, not fresh looking or tasting. Because we asked for the pork eggplant not spicy, it came to the table pretty bland. The food was delicious and the servings are generous. The spice levels are true to description, running rather mild. The chicken in my dish was tender and smelled fresh. I appreciated how the colors of the mangoes and apples arranged around us matched the decor. The seats were a tad uncomfortable but nothing too distracting. After months and months of waiting -- so many months that I was beginning to question whether this place would ever open -- I was excited to finally see the lights on! I've already had dinner here three times in the last week and a half, and everything has been delicious. The curries are on the thinner side, which I prefer: The veggies and optional protein get to shine through, rather than being shrouded by thick, heavy sauce. I would love to have some Bird's Eye chilis thrown in there; I like my curries spicy! I keep trying to ask for spicy, but spicy curry continues to elude me. I know they're capable, though: So far, I've had a wonderfully spicy Pad Kee Mao with beef and Green Papaya Salad (once; second time was mild, third had no spice). Other items I've tried include Green Curry with chicken, Mango Curry (red) with chicken, Pad See Ew with beef, and Mango Sticky Rice. What a great addition to the neighborhood! Food was delicious. Great, very casual addition to the neighborhood. Opened with the Lao Sausage (Sai Ua). It was deep fried, sliced, and served with salad greens, red onion, ginger and peanuts. A terrific appetizer to share. Followed with my usual comparison dish at Thai restaurants, Pad Kee Mao. Very flavorful, lots of pork (though you can also order it with beef, chicken, shrimp, or veggie). Pleasant amount of oil on the noodles. My partner and I wanted to try somewhere new and we were more than impressed with Aroi Thai. The food was excellent as was the service- we went on a Saturday night and the food came out quickly, was so flavorful and perfectly balanced, and the service was attentive and friendly. Definitely the best Thai food in the area (we live two blocks away). We got the Red Curry with Pork, the Pad Prik King with chicken, and sticky rice and we were in heaven. The food was so good we didn't even care they don't have beer or wine (which is fine because there are two bars on the corner). Can't wait to go back and try more on the menu. read more

Honestly this place seemed to have all the right ingredients. The place is quaint and cute and it seemed like they were making authentic Thai food by the looks of their simple kitchen (maybe just my perception). The food was incredibly underwhelming. We ordered the Tom Kha, Pad Kee Mao, fresh rolls, and yellow curry. The fresh rolls were just lettuce with tiny shreds of tofu, carrot, and bean sprouts....where were the noodles, the mint, the other ingredients?? The peanut sauce was yummy but bland (how can Thai food be bland??). Yellow curry is such a magical dish and so I was so sad that my yellow curry was literally flavorless. The tofu was cooked well and the veggies were fresh. The Tom Kha soup was the best dish...veggies were cooked perfectly and fresh...the tofu was perfectly cooked...the broth was slightly too sweet without as much sour as I prefer but it was still yummy. The drunken noodles with chicken was flavorless, the noodles were mushy, and there were 4 pieces of chicken. They also do not serve drinks, just water. They said you can byob. Happy to have such a yummy and friendly restaurant open in my neighborhood. I have gone twice and love the mango and pumpkin curries. The sauces are nice and thin with lots of flavor and good ingredients. The default spiciness is a bit higher than other places, but they adjusted to make it perfect for me.
