Pulled Chicken on top of Ribs
BB Q.

Review is only based on their BBQ food. Got the 2 meat combo with Ribs and pulled chicken, they had pulled pork and hot sausage too. At first look the chicken was all multicolored with the white and dark meat but also the amount of seasoning on each piece was different. I would say it was more "chopped" than pulled. Juicy meat, like it was stewing all day like some pulled meat dishes are made. A bit chewy for my taste but not terrible. Flavor was like a bad lemon flavor to me, not a fan. Rib came wrapped up in the tin foil that the chicken was in, I completely understand why they do that but its weird cause the steam and juice from the chicken make it seem like it was all cooked in the same foil. I couldn't grab the bones because they didn't stick out like St. Louis Style does. What I would call oven baked style more than smoked. A bit more tender than the chicken, but I just wasn't getting great flavor from the meat or the spices. The rub had a lot of very "dry" style spices, stuff that's neither hot, sweet, or powerful. So it really didn't make an impact. They told me the potato salad was one of their favorites. This potato salad is that store bought, sweet onion, miracle whip, red bliss potato salad. I myself really like this style but I know most people don't. Beans were Drowning in Gravy sauce. Some bacon or pork, some bell peppers, pinto beans. Bean didn't really hit me with flavor as much as the gravy did, but even the gravy wasn't much. Traditional New England style though, not bad. Cornbread came it it's own container and it was still hot! I don't think that is a regular thing but it was a good piece. It tasted like they have a generic store bought mix but then they doctored it a little bit to make it a bit better. Sauces were pretty thick, smokey was my favorite, but the meats were so juicy I would never put sauce on them.

Adam burger with pulled pork

I understand they just opened from winter break, but you shouldn't forget how to make a burger. I ordered the Adam burger which features their pulled pork. First off the bun was a bit charred, nothing I couldn't over look. The burger nice charbroiled taste, but lacking any form of seasoning. Veggies were a nice treat, but a bit heavy on the tomato slices. Wife ordered the Arnie burger which is just their bacon cheeseburger. Nothing too spectacular, under seasoned patty as well, and no bacon to be found anywhere. As for the Chili Cheese fries, or lack of, tastes like canned Hormel chili and some tasteless cheese sauce on about a handful size amount of fries. I understand it's not a large order, maybe put it in a small container so it looks like your getting more? Overall not a great first impression for the summer season.

This is the sort of local joint every town needs...drive up and get an ice cream cone or a burger and run into your friends while you're there. Sadly, most of these "American Graffiti" or "Happy Days" places are long gone. Not so in Concord--Arnie's has been there for years and is still going strong, with a wall of "Best in NH" type plaques on the wall to prove it The menu features all the standard food made fast, plus some surprises, like Southern pulled pork bbq along with hot dogs and hamburgers of every description. French fries that are really good! Ice cream in about 30 flavors also on tap. Friendly service, and you can eat at a counter or take your food outdoors to a picnic table. The lines sometimes get long in summer, but don't be put off by them. Arnie's slings good food and the lines prove it.

Cheeseburgers, fries and a couple of shakes.

Always try to get to Arnie's when we fly into Boston. It's a drive to get there (about an hour and a half north into Concord, but we'll worth it. The best burgers and shakes. The place is cute and the staff great. I would definitely go miles out of my way for a burger and fries at Arnie's!!!!!!

At our request they encrusted this cake with our recipients favorite candy- Nerds!

We have been stopping by here for treats for years. However, only recently we began ordering ice cream cakes from here too- and oh my are they AMAZING. Worth every penny in flavor and appearance. Super impressed with both cakes we ordered and the one we grabbed ready-made our of their fridge!

A frappe and a kids size scoop of ice cream just short of $10.00. I don't think so. Won't be back.

Wonderful little lunch stop!…read more It was full of locals and regulars and on a wait for lunch. At that moment I knew I had picked a good spot! We chilled with the folks up front for a good bit before getting a table. It seemed we were the only people that had not been here 30-40 times before. Most people didn't even want menus and the sweet server ladies just brought them food without conversation at all. It's kind of old school feeling inside. It's an open kitchen and you can see all of the action. Inside is all wooden and rustic. It reminds me of my grandmas house in Camden TN. Not sure why. It's just really comfortable in here to me. The tile and fireplaces make super cozy. This place has some of the best chili that I have had in a long time. I dig the fact they give tortilla shops automatically with the chili. Win!! Thick and meaty and oh so filled with spice and love!! Cheese on top was a nice touch too. Really liked it! My French dip was fucking killer!! So damn big too! I could only eat half of it because of the the fire ass chili I had already eaten. French fries were battered type. Nothing wrong with that!! I drove around with this sandwich for two days of travel and ate it on the road later. Stupendous French dip!! C had an open faced roast beef sandwich. FIRE!! The green beans were so pretty and fresh too. She could barely get 1/3 down, lol. It was a ton of food. Economical! Hometown feel! Good people working and eating here! I love it!! I'm not even sure I could find the place again. I sure am glad I did the first time! '26 -39

Maddy's Food Hub - Jollof rice with chicken or fried rice with chicken

Let me start by saying the food is delightful. While I am far from an expert consumer of this…read morecuisine, I have consistently enjoyed the Jollof rice, the fried plantains, the chicken gizzards, and their goat dishes. The portions are generous and the food is wonderfully spicy. The restaurant is very loud as they play music on a sizable PA system in a relatively small space. I would not recommend eating in for anyone with auditory sensory processing differences. That said, if you're going to eat here, pay cash or go somewhere else. In our last visit (October 2024), my credit card was triple billed for our meal. The staff told us that it was a problem with Square. Cool. I've dealt with Square. Square can be a pain, I get it. Sadly, that was the start of the problem, not its resolution. The receipt they sent me was a completely different order (literally nothing we ordered was on the receipt, the the receipt was for almost twice the cost of our meal). The staff said they'd fix it. Cool. We'll wait. However, after waiting 20 minutes or so for this to be resolved, the staff told us that they were unwilling to wait on hold any longer and that they would follow up the next day. I never got a call. Two days later, I called to follow up as the charges had only been partially reversed. When I called the number staff gave me for follow up, they told me my refund was processed. Looking at my credit card statement, it most definitely was not. They refunded a partial and seemingly random amount, leaving them still having overcharged me by more than $60. The staff person I spoke to, who assured me that they would be available on Monday, said they were too busy to talk and would call me back. They did not call me back. The staff person I have been in contact with has been consistently argumentative. I have consistently been made to feel that I am the problem and am an inconvenience for insisting on accurate, timely correction of the charges. I don't care how good the fried plantains are (and they're really good), they're not worth this much headache. I'll not be going back.

I'm so glad there's a place in Concord to stop in for authentic African cuisine. Maddy's Food Hub…read moreopened on Fort Eddy Road near Planet Fitness recently. The space has a homey atmosphere with seating in the dining area and a takeout counter. After seeing their small grocery Mart next to Man Yee Express in the Heights, I decided to head to their small restaurant for takeout. I ordered the Banku & Fried Fish ($17 plus tax) and the owner asked me how spicy, referring to the sauce that comes with it. I was given the spicy sauce and the non spicy tomato sauce on the side. My food was ready to go in about 15 minutes. The boxed dinner had a dense balled cornmeal (slight salt flavor) served with fried croaker fish with bones with shredded onion, and pepper on the side and hot & mild sauces on the side. The hot flaky fish needed to be carefully deboned before enjoying. The sauces were great with my food and with the Banku, the dinner was filling to eat. I will keep Maddy's Food Hub on my list of places to stop for a fresh cooked African meal.
