I give this place one star because they were professional crossed all their t's and Dot their I s. I drove my crippled vehicle in there and they offered me a loaner car I had to have proof of insurance and they said you just have to pay for the fuel there's no charge per mile. That was very nice of them.. he also charged me $285 to tell me that my engine was blown. They first said they would do a complimentary electronic analysis and said there were cylinders misfiring.. I didn't feel comfortable with their assessment so I had it towed to a shop I knew was reputable through my own experience and they determined I had a broken valve spring. They replaced the valve spring for $400 and I got my truck back running tremendous as it always did. If I had gone with them they would have trashed my perfectly good motor. I do not recommend this establishment as I do not have faith in their mechanics. read more

My husband has been bringing our car here for 4 years because they worked with our Max Care warranty. Every year our air conditioning breaks and we have spent thousands of dollars fixing it. I started to feel something shady was going on after the issue kept happening. The last time we had our air conditioning fixed, they kept the car for 9 days because they said they needed to do a quality assurance test and that they also went ahead and fixed our shock absorbers because it would be covered by the warranty (we didn't ask for this work to be completed). When we finally picked up the car, the engine and under carriage covers were in our trunk! How did this happen if they were doing a quality assurance test? They did send someone out to our house to put the covers back on but only after my husband refused to bring the car back to the shop. Two weeks later we got a flat tire and brought the car to a local mechanic to fix the tire. During a complimentary car check, they discovered our air filters were absolutely filthy, our battery was close to dying, and the car's alignment was off! How the hell none of this caught at Arndt is beyond me. We will no longer be bringing our car to Arndt unfortunately. read more

I am completely dissatisfied with this place. I had heard nothing but good things but after taking my car there I will never go there again. When all was said and done I was charged $875 to replace an alternator. Everyone that I talk to you said I totally got ripped off. And I knew that I did too. I walked in there crying to get my car back. Then two days later I realize that there's a part of my engine in my backseat. They broke it while removing it from my engine.... So just left it off in my backseat?????????????????? I did not go back there to get it put back on because it's about a half an hour drive so I had a friend do it and they told me that there was also a part of my engine that was not connected. No wonder my car was running worse after I brought it there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First way overcharged me and then don't even finish the job and break pieces of my car??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable I will say the lady at the desk was nice and that's about it read more

My vehicle needed a new transmission. It ended up being in the shop for over a month. I was then told that I needed another part put on. I asked if it was absolutely necessary and they said yes. I talked to someone else the next day and they said that I only needed the additional part for 4wd-so, not needed to drive the vehicle. One of the men answered when I called for an update and he was very rude and used an aggressive tone with me when I asked if I could have a discount for their numerous mistakes. Eventually, my step dad went and talked to them for me and got things sorted out. However, I am not sure if they were rude to me because of my gender or if they're like that to everyone. BUT they were reasonable with my step father. My family has been customers of theirs for a few years, but none of us will not be doing business with Arndt's again. read more

Arndt Automotive provided excellent service on quick notice when the Check Engine light on our 2018 Dodge Ram 5500 hotshot pickup came on and subsequently broke down in Rochelle, IL. We weren't able to get to a Dodge dealer. Arndt clear the engine codes and perform the automated regeneration needed to get us back on the road. We highly recommend this shop! read more

Dropped off truck on Sunday evening. Told they would work on it on Tuesday which I was ok with. They never even worked on it or moved it from where I dropped it off. Finally picked it up on a Friday with nothing done to it. Truck was in same parking spot since Sunday. Poor service. No apologizes. No follow up. We are now scrambling to get it fixed as our son is deployed overseas and is returning to the States soon and wants his truck. read more

This shop performed so far below expectations that I would leave a minus rating if I could. I was a first time customer and referred to them by a current FLEET customer so I felt comfortable bringing my vehicle in. All I needed was a diagnostic. Well, to start, my appt. was at 1pm, they didn't even bring my truck in the bay until 2pm. Now mind you, I am waiting in the customer waiting area, and they knew it. As I am waiting, I figured I would take a walk around and look to see if the truck was even being looked at, well, it was, kind of, one tech had to remind the other ( the one " working " on my truck ) of the model and engine size. OOkkk. Well, the other 3 times I walked around, the hood was never opened ( as far as I saw ) and both techs were chatting and looking at a different vehicle. It was at 4 pm when I finally told them to just bring the truck out since I haven't heard any updates and 3 hours is a bit excessive for a diagnostic. As they brought the truck out, I heard someone in the office say that it was supposed to be a drop off anyway (GUESS WHAT ! IT WAS NOT A DROP OFF ) then they handed me a bill for over $200 . ABSOULTLY ASTONISHING ! The shop is pretty, but the service,,,, hmm. N/M . Only nice thing was the lady at the desk, she was polite. read more

This place is an absolute JOKE! They told my husband at noon to come bring our van down to change a tire to a spare, that no one was ahead of him, they were open. So being in a small town, he goes and instead of switching out the tire that should take all of five minutes, they move the van to the side of the building and proceed to EAT LUNCH! Then when he asks why they weren't changing the tire, they reply, "Well you shouldn't have came during lunch" WHAT!? I specifically asked who it was that said that and then gave the reply and the OWNER said I did and shrugged his shoulder when I asked why he would say to come down right now they had no one in front of him. Then when I go down there 6 months pregnant to ask why they would carry themselves as such a poor business especially towards a local family, they have NO ANSWER, laugh in my face and call the police. I have never ever dealt with such a poorly ran business and to be one in the very same town as I live, is just a sad and pathetic joke, they deserve all the negative reviews I've heard about them from word of mouth and online. Had 2 vehicles serviced here and was very happy with the quality and the speed at which they handled the repairs and the cost was competitive to other locations until I had a more complicated issue with my 2007 GMC Yukon. On start up, I noticed a smoke(burning oil) coming from tail pipe and then the problem developed to smoke coming from front passenger side hood. Took it in once for this issue and for an evap code(check engine light). A repair was made that did not resolve either issue and they reset the computer to turn off the check engine light(evap code) right when I picked it up with my two kids. Within a week the check engine light returned on and the burning oil out of tail pipe and the hood only got worse. I returned the truck to the shop promptly. Many more tests were done(smoke test, est) and the shop recommended a new passenger side manifold(which I agreed to proceed with) to resolve the smoke leak from the hood. The reason for the burning oil remained undiagnosed until I suggested a valve cover and gasket replacement(other people have reported that this fix can resolve this issue). They were unable to diagnose the issue and after the work was done new problems arose. My truck is now leaking oil severally and they wanted to charge me extra money to find the evap code related problem on top of all the tests they did. My truck was with them for almost two weeks and the information they were communicating with me was conflicting. One person was telling me a test was being done on a certain day and a part was being installed on a certain day and then another person had told me the part only had just arrived and not been installed yet and that certain tests hadn't even been done yet because their better technician was coming in on a different day and hadn't looked at it yet. So now, the check engine light remains on, there is a constant oil leak and I'm out a few thousand dollars on repairs because they couldn't properly diagnose the problem. So maybe if I left my truck there for a month and let them charge me for dropping the fuel tank(evap code possible problem) and take apart my engine(potentially hundreds of dollars) they would be able to discover why my truck is burning off oil during start up and now leaking oil, profusely. read more

Never EVER will I return to Arndt Automotive in Malta Illinois. I have been a customer of Ardnt Automotive for the last 2 years and have spent thousands of dollars at their place of business on repairs, maintenance and tires for my vehicle. Yesterday I dropped my car off for an oil change and tire rotation. After my services were complete I received a call from the Owner Andy Arndt telling me that there was an indicator light on my dash for "Service Ride Control". He asked if I wanted him to "Run the code" to see what area of the vehicle had set off this indicator in my dash. I told him that would be ok so I know where there might be a problem. I expected a call back and after 1 hour I called to find out where the code had been triggered from, only to find out they had identified the area that triggered the code and instead of calling me to tell me so I could decide if I would like to investigate the problem further...they opened up my car and started investigating it further and told me I was going to have to pay the labor for them further investigating. I did not approve this investigation and told Andy I was not paying for it. He said I would have to pay and went on further to tell me that there was a sensor broken in the hub assembly and it looked like that area of the car had been replaced recently. I pointed out that I have not had any work done outside of his shop for the last two years. He said he did not work on this Hub before. I again pointed out that would pay for the oil change but was not going to pay for the labor for this unauthorized investigation. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, Julie at the front desk pulled my invoice and it still had the labor on the invoice. I was sharing with her the situation when Andy walked into the front office. He began to raise his voice at me and tell me that I should always ASSUME that when I come there, there will be extra fees attached. I pointed out that I had no problem paying for my oil change but I was not going to was required to pay for unauthorized work on my vehicle. I also pointed out that I have never had this problem when I have spoken to him son Cody in the past. He has always been very upfront with what the costs would be and received my approval before doing any work. Andy continued to scream at me and tell me that he DID NOT CARE what I have experienced previously and that I would have to pay the amount on the invoice. I told him again that I was not paying for the labor. He proceeded to grab my keys from the key rack, go outside where my car was parked for pick up, and drove it back into his shop and shut the door. I immediately began to cry. I have never been in a hostile situation as a customer like this in my life. So I asked for Julie to go please find my keys. Once she returned she said she would only hand the keys to me after I paid in full. So I was forced to pay. After I paid, I asked for her to print off all of my past paperwork from my time at Arndt. After returning home and looking through my paperwork. In fact, Ardnt Automotive had replaced my Hub assembly where the problem is currently in my car. So he denied it to me and basically accused me of having work done elsewhere when it was right in his paperwork that he replaced that part in the past. So I should be able to get that repaired for free, but I NEVER will be returning again to their place of business. I was physically scared with the way he was shouting at me and holding my car hostage....after being a loyal customer for 2 years. read more
