Because I love my hubby and our kids.... I've been drug to dozens of army surplus stores. This is hands down the most open and organized place ever. Things are folded, in actual stacks, and there's even an accessible bathroom that was CLEAN. CRAZY. I first went in there to see if they could repair my son's 1911, they said they only do repairs on rifles but would take a look. Cody was very polite and professional fixed my son's gun for free and recommended some extras. I did compare their prices and they are extremely reasonable. I want to preface that I came in here looking for a Swiss army jacket. I already knew in my mind that I would not find it because it's Swiss and I've ever only known one place to carry anything outside the US. SO IT BEGINS! I walk into the store on a rabid search for Swiss apparel. I searched the entire left hand of the store and almost overlooked this rare gem. I back tracked and spotted the distinct red and blue in the jacket and leaped with joy. Even better, this jacket looked like they person who used it was very tactical. The elbows on the jacket were a strong plastic material. Looks like it was meant for crawling, so nothing ripped through. The hood section had a hidden mesh material to cover the soldiers face and there were a total of 8 pockets in the jacket (one hidden inside)... making it heavy! Jacket was right at $20, which kept me within my budget :) They had plenty of other gear like helmets, packaged meals, sweats, hats and anything else you could think of. Another thing that interest me was they carried even more countries gear. Belgium, Jordanian and Italian. The quantity is slim... really slim but it's there and different. One of the guys working in the store showed me this stuff, once I told him I was interested in the "other" stuff. He had quite a bit of knowledge on it all. So customer service was great! This place made me feel young again. I remember when Army/Navy surplus stores sold just that, surplus military stuff. You went through boxes of used clothes and equipment looking for that treasure. Then, over time, most of those stores either went out of business or started selling only new stuff meant to look military or I don't know what. They were also way too clean for my tastes. This place walks a great line between the good and bad of my experience. First, they have a great selection of true surplus clothing and equipment. One of the only places I know of selling surplus ammo boxes, so high points for just that alone. There is also a selection of new clothing and equipment. An added bonus is a modest airsoft section tucked away in a corner. Fair prices on the guns and such but the staff's knowledge and willingness to help you makes up the difference of the few bucks you might save buying on line. I'm old though, so I like going into a store and learning about things, picking them up and examining them before I buy. Rather than just clicking a box and hoping the mailman delivers what you thought you were getting. The store is rounded out with a selection of military insignia and medals and a shoe area that I did not investigate. Worth the trip. read more

Wow... that's what I thought when I walked in. Someone else mentions claustrophobia... they ain't kiddin baby. It's packed in there so tight you get a bit dizzy. Once you make it in and orient yourself there is a whole world to explore. I only made it through like 1/4 of the store on this visit. For the veteran, this store is like candy. But lets be clear, they don't JUST have military gear here, they have law enforcement clothing like trousers for swat or EMS and other field oriented personnel. Boots and hunters apparel. They have the usual veteran pride t-shirts, hats and sports wear, pins, widgets etc. If your going to stop by, give yourself time to look at everything! Parking is ample, prices are not cheap like a thrift store... this is the real gear. read more

If you have never been in a military surplus store this one might be a good place to start. This place deserves our business. It's in a slightly seedy part of the Garland/Dallas border but the store itself is fine. It has the authentic "neat stuff stacked in cardboxes" vibe. If you are claustrophobic you'll need a stiff drink before you start navigating the narrow aisles. It also has reasonable prices rather than the rip-'em-off scale used at many surplus shops. I bought a poncho ($15), army-issue canteen ($2.49) two oversize bandanas for my BUG ($2 each), a couple packs of trioxane (three bars per) for $1. I was at another surplus store a couple miles away where the poncho cost 33% more and the trioxane and canteen cost 100% more. 30.06 status: not posted. read more

I wasn't the one making the purchase this time but my company loves this store. Everyone in here, including the customers, are very knowledgeable about the products. It's a little tight when maneuvering through the isles but it's not too much of an issue considering that there aren't shopping carts. I've only been to one other army store that had better inventory but it was in Galveston, TX so if someone had the need for a good quality pea coat or some serious footwear in the Dallas, this store would be top on my list of recommendations. read more

Classic Dallas staple for anyone. They have pretty much everything and anything. Although going to this store on and off for over ten years they never really seem to change the stuff they carry. Some of the workers are a bit too "Up in Arms" about things and have unnecessary conversations. Most of the time they're very helpful and pleasant to talk to though. They mainly surplus in Rothco and US surplus items , but they do carry airsoft guns, knives, books, MRES, helmets, and very predictably confederate flags. I don't recommend buying some of the foreign militaria items due to a good amount being fake surplus. Although militaria from Europe and America are all legit. Be sure to stop buy and pick up some cool items! read more

Went in for some help with an Airsoft Gun Repair and came out a big fan. I did not the expect the real time service - they took the gun apart, found the problem, and put it back together while I waited. I would have needed to send it out of state for repairs if these guys weren't around. They had the batteries I needed in stock also. The Army Store is a great resource for all your Airsoft needs. read more

Last real army navy store in Dallas from what I can tell. The staff are a bit edgy and jaded like ole bartenders or tattoo artists who think they're Picasso types but still fairly helpful once you go in a few times. Myself, I've been going there for three decades now and they usually have something I need or want. Internet shopping is great but it's nice to see it and touch it before buying. Love this shop. Maybe more out of nostalgia than anything else but good people and family owned and operated makes it unique. read more

Not sure if I will go back. This seems like the type of place you would of thought should of went under 10 yrs ago because of eBay. The selection is good and all of the items are clearly priced. Reminds me of the type of store my grandpa would of taken me to so he could talk to some guys about fighting in the war. One look at the clerk and I decided my grandpa would not come here. He sock looks like it is aging and you would have to inspect every item or you might get a lemon. The clerk was interesting and made me believe they clearly do not drug test. It's interesting but unless I am close I wouldn't put in the effort to shop here at this location. read more

Lots of old military surplus gear and clothes. Decent selection but might not have your size. Can try on clothes in store and friendly and knowledgeable staff. It's a pretty cool store overall, if you can find what you're looking for. read more
