i ordered 2 armored backpacks for my children during the summer of unrest 2020. they were afraid of getting "shot". they felt better when i placed order in august 2020. as covid ravaged this country the order kept falling behind like all ammo, guns etc. in early march 2021 my kids kept asing about the order. i checked ar 500 armor and they reported it delivered around december. i never got it so travis helped me fill out police report and now i am expecting delivery soon. we must all realize the challenge of covid, social unrest and violence this past year and ar 500 came through. this is much faster than my supresors, short barreled rifle, gun parts and ammo. they are the best. great customer service and coming from small business owner i know how hard it is to find people passionate about their job and customers. bart read more

Numerous attempts to try and get in touch with someone to absolutely no avail. The automated emails after submitting an email to support@ar500armor.com are abysmal and disappear into the void. I placed an order on 7/5/2025 and haven't heard a thing. Nothing but radio silence. Don't bother trying to call either, their phones are down, shut off, or flat out aren't in service so the 602-501-9607 is garbage. It's a damned shame, I ordered my vest from this "company" when I was with the United States Capitol Police and everything was expedient. Take reviews with a grain of salt. I'm seeing a huge influx of bad reviews from impatient people saying they waited 3 weeks with no gear and now they're mad. When the sites clearly say 5-9 weeks when we all placed our orders. I'm one of them. Besides waiting most haven't even owned the product or waited past 2 weeks... This is an honest review of this company. Carriers: Their product is top notch. Especially for the price. I had low expectations for the quality of their Veritas and Testudo carriers and carrier accessories but was actually really pleased. I would put this on the level of my HRT and MayFlower rig that was 3x the price. But these being a newer design obviously are far more superior with the new standard features others like the mayflower are missing. Plates: Originally I ordered the Lvl III plates. But with the long wait time I did more research and figured I wanted III+ plates. I changed my order and had 0 issue from their staff. They were actually really helpful. These steel plates are heavy in hand. But once in the best it's actually really manageable. No where near as light as soft armor but still. In hand you think there is no way you can carry these. But once in their carrier and on your body you can easily wear the vest all day. Shipping: Again I was one of the people who was a little stressed with the shipping times. But I was told 5-7 weeks for my order due to COVID and got my gear with in 7 weeks. So you can't knock them for that. Especially when every other company I went to had the same exact wait times for orders. RTS, HRT, Crye anyone you can think of all had 4 to 7 week lead times on their gear. So how can you blame AR500 for the same issue? Only thing I could knock them for is, instead of boosting sales and taking more orders you're already behind on. Just list out of stock until you get more product in to avoid this type of backlash. Customer service: This was one of the best and worst things about them during the pandemic. As far as their staff they were more than helpful. I made corrections and changes to my order 3 times. Each of which every rep was more than happy to not only help but talked about it with me while we did it with support on my decisions. RTS tactical and some other companies I called and even ordered from were honestly some of the worst. When I went to cancel my order from RTS tactical before ordering from AR500 the guy was basically talking shit because I wanted to cancel and his attitude was basically like I should be lucky to be able to order from them and buy their shit. And he was like a car salesmen trying to convince me to not cancel and offered me all these extra deals but still had attitude about it. Some young punk you could tell hated that job over the phone. As far as the customer service system for AR500, that's where it lacks. Some days unless I called literally first thing in the morning you were not going to get in touch with anyone. It literally just stopped talking calls and would disconnect you or send you to a voicemail that wasn't even in use anymore. Their chat was a little better. But sometimes the site wouldn't even let you start a chat. That said again as soon as you got a rep on the phone they were completely helpful and awesome to work with. When my wife gets out of the service and has to check back in her issued gear. We will be ordering another carrier and plates from here. I won't buy another $300+ kit ever again. No need to with this level of quality for half the price. Again just look at what reviews you're reading. It's a huge trend with cancel culture to bash AR500 cause grown ass men can't wait longer than 2 weeks after they agreed on a 5 week wait time. But cry on a review cause it's a movement to try and ruin AR500 and they can hide behind their computer screen cause of their soft ass feelings from people who can't wait. So don't base your idea off a guy who hasn't even touched the product and cries on the internet like a child who can't hold their emotions. Some of while I bet didn't even place orders and just want to come in and bash AR500 cause everyone else is doing it. I waited and am glad I did. This review pains me to post because I had a great experience on my first order from AR500 consisting of a pair of vests and plates. I recently ordered an armored helmet to add to the group of items i already purchased. WELL, in talk to AR500, its my fault the package didnt arrive, they expect a police report of the theft, etc. Which in reality, the fedex driver never tried to deliver at my address. Buyer Beware On July 7th AR500 had no issue taking payment with the promise/expectation to deliver products with a possible 8-week additional lead time. Since then, not one order status communication was sent, while I've received no less than a dozen or so marketing emails peddling AR500 products.  I reach out on Sept 30th and receive an automated response telling me you're running an additional 2-3 weeks behind the original lead times. No problem. I continue with my inquiry since I was already past your additional 2-3 wait times.  On October 1st an awesome, helpful CSR very promptly replies that we're looking like more like a 12-14 week lead time for orders, and since we're only on week 12 to give it a few more weeks.  On October 19th I reach out again to see where the order status sits, and I'm not informed: "your order is currently in our priority queue, and it should be shipping at any point in the next 2-3 weeks". I believe we have different definitions of the word "priority" but it's moot at this point.  Assuming I have any level of trust in these dates, we'll be damn near to December before I'd see any orders on my doorstep. Keep in mind this was a July 7th order. It's tough to think this isn't much more than some type of company scammy growth initiative where you're using paid for orders to scale your business in times of uncertainty while continuing to misrepresent your actual shipping times to new customers (current wait time on your website for my products still shows 6-weeks as of 5 minutes ago) I understand demand is high. I understand you're a growing business and need some empathy from customers at times like this.I appreciate your personal responses and value a company that has solid onshore CS support.  I can't understand how you continue to market to me without so much as a single update to my order.I don't see how you can take someone's money and not deliver a product for 6 months when you claim 6-8 weeks. I can't comprehend keeping current or prospective customers in the dark by not updating the lead times on your product pages to reflect reality... the current product page still shows a 6-week lead time.  I don't do business like this. Beware of poor shipping and handling. The items were horribly packed and unsecurely shipped in a FedEx plastic envelope instead of a sturdy cardboard box. I was concerned and upset due to the awful shipping possibly compromising the integrity of the products. I received this from the Armored Republic bundle sale (2022 January 26). 1 x AR Concealment Plate Carrier - White Medium 2 x AR500 Armor® Level IIIA Rimelig 10" x 12" Soft Body Armor 2 x AR500 Armor® Blunt Force Trauma Pad - 10" x 12" The AR concealment carrier was folded in half like a piece of paper; therefore it came out wrinkled. All items where tightly stacked together WITHOUT additional protection, like bubble wrap or packing paper, into the FedEx PLASTIC ENVELOPE. AR500 did not even use a cardboard box. Since there was no packaging protection, I have no idea if the plates and trauma pads experienced enough stress during transport to be damaged. Other heavier boxed items could have poked into the items like spikes. I sent an email and photos with my concerns to support@ar500armor.com. The customer support response was quick and professional. Their reply was: "We definitely understand your concern regarding your order and how you received it since it was put into a FedEx envelope. We have passed this concern onto our warehouse team to see what we can do to improve how we pack the concealment carriers in the future. We have had several members of our team look over the condition of your carrier, trauma pads, and soft armor and we have designed the carrier and soft armor to keep integrity and strength even if it is bent and moved in several ways and any folds in the armor and carrier will flatten out over time and we do not see if causing any issues regarding the protection and durability of our products. If there are any issues in the future regarding your carrier and armor when it is used please reach back out to us as we believe in the strength and durability of our products as they are designed to be the highest quality possible." I feel that the Sales team is blaming the Warehouse team and "forwarded" the concern, but nothing will come of it. I feel that I could not be the only person who received the AR Concealment Bundle in a plastic envelope. I decided to keep the items. AR500's return and exchange policy for store credit only is stacked against the buyer. Their return policy would make me lose more money since I would have to pay the return shipping and only get store credit. If I had shipped the items back in the exact same terrible manner, the company would likely deny my claims in its own favor. I have read comments on various sites. I was giving AR500's products a chance to form my own opinions. I do like the product, but not so much for the company now. Sadly, the awful shipping and lack of concern for the customer's first impression upon receiving the package are negatives for me. I will most likely avoid AR500 and its sister site Ironsidebodyarmor. All this disappointment and frustration could have been avoided by simply using a strong cardboard box, instead of a flimsy plastic envelope. Don't forget that FedEx also provides boxes! Asked my grandson what he wanted for Christmas and he mentioned this company. It's been 27 weeks and still no merchandise. He realized the company deletes all negative comments from their socials media pages. Here's the tip: They average over 10k "likes" on most post on Instagram. But when it comes to promotion/sales post, they average less than 500 likes and minimal to no comments. This is a sign of deception. There's no way the marketing department can explain this away. Watch for their response and do your own research. They are censoring their own sites. It took more than the initial promised time of four months to show, so I got pretty upset when I read lots of reviews where people were still waiting after 7 or 8 months. But we did get our product only a week past the deadline. If you are broke like me but want something to be able to wear in an emergency situation, I'd like to impart some things on to you about the steel armor from my experiences. 1. 8lbs per side doesn't sound like much, but you won't be bugging out while wearing these and a pack, and ammo and your weapon. Not realistic at all. I have been lifting weights my whole life, so I am very strong. I might make it a few more miles than you on foot, but it's not realistic. This will slow you down considerably. 2. Body armor is hot to wear. 3. The carrier is very tight. I am 220 6'. I should have gotten a Testudo (bigger plates & carrier). I cannot get into any of the pockets and can barely use the molle grid on the chest for accessories. 4. If you can afford it, get the light body armor. These steel plates are just too heavy. Conclusion: I will probably order through a different business next time. The wait time is just too long and unpredictable. I do not believe they have light enough armor to suit my next purchase. read more

Editing my review again, finally. Some time after my last update a new replacement carrier randomly showed up at my door. I'm assuming they decided to honor their policy. However I am not using this carrier anymore and have started doing business elsewhere. While I'm glad they did eventually do the right thing, it was far too much for me to get them to honor it. Update: After angrily emailing basically any and everybody at AR500 with an email address, I was finally contacted by Mr. Edward Cordova. He was very genuine and forthright about what was going on at AR500 and with my order. He was able to make things right for me and get my order to me in quick fashion. I'm still a bit ticked about the absolute lack of communication from the customer service side and the fact that I had to involve different departments just to get an answer, but they squared me away. 4 stars because once they did ship, it showed up really quick and the quality is very good. Ordered and wasn't informed that it would take a month as I ordered for Christmas I had to reach out to them to find this out. I then waited and didn't have gifts for some of my family because of this, not to mention I have to now pay the cost of shipping to two different states as I didn't come by Christmas. Then it gets here and it's delivered to the wrong address because someone sent the wrong address to fed ex even though I input the correct one.Then I was treated like I stole it and told that I needed to file a police report otherwise they wouldn't send me the replacement or my money. Like many people, I placed an order in December 2019 (Dec 2nd to be exact) and was informed that there was 6-7 week lead time. Not a great way to start out the relationship, but I said "fine". Eight weeks come and go so I reach out to customer service on January 27th, 2020 to see where my sweet new gear is in the process. About 2 weeks later (Feb 11th, 2020), I finally get a response that basically says, "Yeah, we completely oversold our capacity during the holidays so thanks for the money. Don't worry, though. We're using part of that money to hire the people we should have already had in place to begin with. You should have your pew-pew plates in 2-3 weeks." OK, not exactly those words but you get the idea. The 2-3 week additional lead time they quoted is what they said, though. So now the additional 3 weeks are upon us, my mailbox is empty, and I haven't heard anything else from the company. At this point, I'm expecting it to show up one day in the future after I've forgotten that I placed the order and have started watching YouTube videos on how to build your own plate carrier setup out of old phone books, a free #Beto2020 T-shirt, and used condoms. Lastly, what has made the process so frustrating is the lack of communication other than receiving promo emails on sales they're running. I get that you can't completely turn off your pipeline due to an extreme backlog of orders, but it's probably smart to segment out the customers from emails trying to get more money out of them who are growing more irritated by the day. Due to China-Virus I gave them that high volume lead time to ship. contacted customer service and was told my ship address didnt match up with billing address (had items shipped to work). But made sure to process my credit card. Never received a phone call or email regarding this issue. Other companies will send a courtesy email or call regarding this type of discrepancy. I placed an order for AR500 armor at the end of August and wanted to have it shipped to my residence in Dallas. I received an email stating that they could not ship to an address different than the billing address (NY billing address) without sending them a photo copy of my license as they suspected fraud. I replied back to them that sending photo copies of IDs across the internet is not secure and that usually my credit card company handles suspicion of fraud issues. I then received another email, stating that if I responded with my correct address, the issue would be resolved. So I did. I then entered in to a customer service chat on the AR500 website and was told again to send a copy of my photo ID, which I declined to do as it is a security risk. The customer rep then went down the path of NY State law forbidding shipping armor to NY etc. and again asked for my ID. I asked how the issue of credit card fraud is related to the NY state law, and I was told that they can't ship to NY. My response was that I was not having it shipped to NY, but to Dallas, and to my knowledge I was not breaking NY laws while I am in Dallas. Bottom line, the customer rep was conflating two completely different issues into a reason to not ship to an address that was different than the billing address without sending them a photocopy of a picture ID (driver's license). I ultimately told them to cancel the order. So - some good with the bad, the customer service rep was professional and polite, and while I didn't agree with his view of the situation, was just doing his job. And this is not about the personality at the end of the customer service line, whether its email, chat, phone etc. but about the business practices of the company. Folks - in a day and age where most fraud and identity theft occurs from theft of your data being stored at a company site (despite claims to protect your information) or being sent across unencrypted internet connections, AND where data sent to businesses dealing in firearms/armor/triggers etc. can be, and is, freely turned over to the government, you should not be sending any business a copy of your photo ID. AR500's claim to be concerned about fraud is disingenuous. Let the buyer beware. read more

Forget a customer service response I purchased a 6"x 8" Level III armor plate side panel. It was not exactly what I was looking for. Too heavy for my purpose. I actually needed the same size but level II or IIA kevlar lite material. Customer service exchange policy said to either call or send a message via their refund/exchange site and wait for a response. catch is that you have 30 days to make this request. On day two, I made the request and two weeks later, never heard back from them, so I sent another email per their site. Again, I never heard back so I called. The phone waiting period for customer service was so long that I reserved a spot so they could call me back, but they never did. I don't expect that I'll be able to exchange or get a refund. Seems their site is designed this way. Bottom line, is their customer service gets a big "Zero" from me. read more

So!!! This goes to the employee ( I don't know your name ) but he took care of the problem. I've purchased full kits from here multiple times and every time I call it's like talking to a buddy. They walk you through whatever you're purchasing, and I mean they are sales man, but they do take their time matching what your requesting. Which is a good thing when you're trying to not spend more than you need. Quality product!! I have plates from like late 2013, which still look new even though the terrain I train at has made me go through 2 plate carriers. Legit customer service. it does take a minute to talk to someone, but they've taken care of my questions and issues easily. I'll spend my money here anytime, and based off IG posts, I can sure put my money on a CEO like that. Thanks guys read more
