Had to duplicate some keys, this shop is just down the street. Came in with the originals, clerk at the counter informed me about how much each of them would cost. I agreed and he made the copies. I recently use Armor Locksmith to do all my windows locks. I don't know how he persuaded my friends who were there to let him provided a couple of garage remote controls, which I do not need. He said that they were $60 each but actually charged me $160 for the two. I rang him up regarding this but he said that it is non-refundable. He tried to impressed me that once the remote controls were programmed they cannot be reprogrammed again. I have bought them on ebay for $4/ each and they were very easy to programmed and reprogrammed. Just a matter of pressing a yellow button on the actual machine and then press a button on the remote to synchronise with the remote. There was suppose to be no callout fee and yet he charged me another $140. This was confirmed with him when I first arranged for his service. I ended up with a bill of $420!!! ***Update*** I have to update my previous review. I am removing two stars because the key fob that i bought ended up falling apart...literally. The center button fell out and with my luck it rained before i could get to go back to the locksmith. Now my key fob doesn't work and I'm back where i was before buying a new key. Service was definitely 5 stars but i wish the quality of the key fob was better. ***Previous Review*** I own a 2002 BMW 5 series. This locksmith has been nothing short of amazing. They have made me a replacement key at a reasonable price and when the key stopped working shortly after, they replaced the board in the key free of charge and in a timely manner. Not once, but twice I had appointments with them to come to a property to repair and replace parts at a small residential rental building entrance. Both times they failed to show up. I had originally arranged it in the store and the second one with the actual repairman who was apologetic after the first no show. Unprofessional liars. My husband and I keep losing the remote for our Kia Rondo. We tried ordering a replacement from the dealer and were astonished at the price, but even more astonished at the wait time. We checked out Armor without any referrals and were so very pleasantly surprised. The remote was replaced the following day at less than half of the dealership charge. It was done quickly and efficiently. Great experience. Unfortunately, we've since lost 2 more remotes and perhaps we should have a long string attached to our belt loops! Not even sure how I locked myself out my house, but these things do happen. I got their number from a friend who has used them in the past and recommended them as decently priced and good service. They came very quickly, which i totally appreciated b/c it was quite cold out. The guy was really nice and didn't make fun of me for locking myself out, he said it happens to people all the time, and that if it wasn't for people like me he'd be out of business. Only took him a few minutes to get me back into my house. I really hope not lock myself out again but if i do at least now I have them saved in my phone. read more

Armor Locksmith's advertisement of 50% off duplicate car keys + programming compared to the car dealership was really enticing. The owner Benny told me that it was going to be a quick and hassle-free process and that it would only take 8-10 minutes. Well something happened and Benny and 2 other locksmiths came to my car and couldn't find out why my car key wasn't programming. They kept me out of the loop and wouldn't tell me what was going on. After 40 minutes of frustration, I really wanted to leave but they deactivated my original car keys and couldnt even get that one to work. Worst of all, my car alarm wouldn't turn off and it was beeping non-stop for a good 30 minutes. They were constantly calling other people on their phones to get advice on how to fix my car. So at the end, we found out that they were programming my car the wrong way because they didnt realize that my car was a hybrid. Afterward, they were able to get my key to work but my checked engine lights were on and my VDC lights wouldnt turn off. They were going to take out my battery and start experimenting with it, but then their mechanic friend advise them not to do so and send me over to them. We were finally able to resolve everything but I was scared that they messed up my car and I missed a morning appointment. I guess you get what you pay for at the end of the day. Next time, I might consider going to the car dealership and spend more money just to have the ease of mind. The whole process took 1.5 hour. Come if you have a regular car but Hybrid owners...Make sure you tell them it's a Hybrid or you'll most likely go through the same situation I did. I rather go to an expert for future reference. read more

Simply put, extremely shady business practices. I had an extra electronic door opener programmed for my car. The locksmith fixed it and there was no problem. I asked if he could take a look at my trunk because the latch would often require more effort than it should have. He told me it would be no problem. Ultimately he told me that he broke the locking mechanism and to go to a junk yard and buy the part and he'll install it. Fast forward one week of duct tapping my trunk, I bring him the part, he installs the part and tells me that the "boss" needs to charge me $150 dollars for the service. I told him that was entirely too high and that I wouldn't have this problem if he had never broken my trunk in the first place. He threatened to call the police and I told him to just remove the lock. Got the lock installed for $20 at a mechanic. I don't know if this is how the place operates typically, but the locksmith that I dealt with, Moses, should be avoided. read more

If I can give a zero or negative star I would. This has got to be one of the worst experiences ever in my life, the cashier with rings all over his face had such an attitude it is amazing how they still have business. I went to the store to make a set of keys, when I entered the place there was nobody on the floor, so I called out for assistance, "Is anyone here", 3 minutes later a man with rings all over his face appeared with a look of disgust, I proceeded to say, " I need a set of keys made" and handed the man the keys, the attitude that followed is unbelieveable, ghetto is an understatement, throwing keys around and after I paid he threw my change all over the counter and gave me stare down that was disturbing. I will never ever patronize this place again. I will also tell all my friends and neighbors this experience, hopefully they will do the same. A note to the owner, don't hire possible murder suspects and if he is the owner, then go seek some professional help, you really need it. The keys he made was not smooth at all, they all took a little jimmy to get the lock to turn, what a huge disappointment, go to Home Depot, this place is not worth your time. read more

Quick and dependable! I had to get an additional key for my 2006 SAAB 9-5 and the dealership that my mechanic referred me to, no longer handled those requests. So after doing a Google search, I came upon Armor Locksmith. I called them and their assistant said they can do SAAB key replacements. After leaving a $50 deposit and waiting two days for them to order the key, I made an appointment to drive out to their location the following week. They were courteous and they told me to park my car on the corner so that they could bring out the necessary tools/materials to program the ordered key. The entire process took between 20-30 minutes to program the key, test the key and finish paying off the balance. I was very satisfied with the service they provided and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend Armor Locksmith to anyone who is looking for replacement key for their vehicle, or other locksmith services. read more

I've used these guys for my home and office and they were great on all occasions. Recently though, one of my car remotes was stolen along with wallet, and these guys provided a new remote along with reprogramming so that the stolen key would be useless to the thief. Save yourself and your home and don't go to them. I got a high security key card lock from them for $244 just weeks ago. Now when I return home my "high security" lock is unlocked. Someone made a duplicate of my key and breaking into my home. They told me to keep my key card and the only way that someone could make duplicates was to have the card and come to their store and make copies. I did not ever give my card to anyone. Either they are doing this or they gave my keys to someone other than me who is doing this. Dishonest and untrustworthy for the security of your home. read more

If I could have given zero stars, I would have! About a month ago, I called to have someone come and install a lock on my door, at my new apartment. From the first conversation with the person on the other line, I should have decided to go with another business. But in a moment of desperation, I conceded and used them...worst mistake EVER! The locksmith who was sent, Daniel Caputo, was actually very friendly but the job done, was subpar, at best. Before he began, I showed him the lock that I purchased and asked him if it would suffice...if not, I told him that he could use one of the company's locks and I would happily compensate him for that as well. However, he assured me that the lock was fine and proceeded to install. Not even 5 minutes into the process, he makes a comment about the lock and the door, though I can't remember his exact words. At that moment, I told him AGAIN, that if my lock was giving him an issue, to USE HIS OWN...He continued on! When he finished, he told me that the lock was not as tight as he would like it to be but it "should be fine." Now, anyone can agree that hearing those words is not reassuring at all. Not even a day later, my key gets jammed in the lock, taking me at least 7 to 10 mins to get in the door...long enough for someone to acost myself and my 3 year old son, if they wanted to. When I called the company to explain my concern, the director of operations, was very argumentative and nasty, blaming me instead of taking ownership! At the bottom of the receipt slip, the first line of the warranty CLEARLY states that all work is guaranteed for 90 days of installation. This is why I was incredibly confused when I was told that I would have to pay more money for another locksmith to come out, just to investigate what I was saying?! That's absurd!! Probably because I am female because when my father called, the directors whole tone was different!! I'm so sick of these crooks taking advantage of people and not standing by their work or their word. There are too many competitors out here, waiting to be utilized, that won't discriminate based on someone's gender or even color. DO NOT USE THEM! read more

This was a nice surprise. My 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe FOB had stopped working for a while and I did a Google search for a car locksmith and it took me to Amor Locksmith & Security since they were closer to my job. Highly impressed. For starters, the place is kept clean and staff was really nice. The technician Richard was professional and answered my questions quickly. When he didn't know the answer he called his boss Benny which provided the info. Richard quickly reprogrammed the 2 transponders and also made me an extra door key for the one I've misplaced. The whole processed took less than 30 minutes. The price, wow, was better than I expected. They advertise 10 to 50 % discount when compared to a dealership doing it but I think it was more the 50% less. Nice surprised. If I ever need anything to do with locks (cars or home), I'll definitely use them again. I highly recommend them. read more

Called to inquire about a duplicate key to made for my car. I was told the Locksmith would call me back with some information within the hour during the afternoon. I never got a call. I called the next day to ask and he said told me the cost. IT WOULD COST $50 MORE THAN WHAT THE DEALERSHIP CHARGES. I told him this and he told me "Good luck with that" and hung up. He tries to rip me off and proceeds to be rude on the phone. I won't be giving any business to this place. Terrible. read more

I ordered yesterday an emergency lockout of my apartment's door. There was a guy named Jay in the store in that time, who gave me the charges: $80 for the opening the door (obviously, it was the charge for drilling out the cylinder) and $195 to replace a multi-lock cylinder. I agreed, since I couldn't shop around in that moment. I was told that the locksmith tech would come in 15 min, and he came after more than half of hour. The tech was young, probably a "rookie", and spoke a little English. He spent 2.5 hours to finish the work, which for a professional wouldn't take more than a half of hour. In the meantime, he tells me that the lock itself had a broken mechanism, and it had to be replaced. He talked on the cell to his manager and passed it to me. The manager (I thought he was a subcontractor) tells me that the total charges were $500 plus tax. He said $125 for opening the door, $175 for the new cylinder and $200 for the new lock. I argued with him that the store gave me different charges, but he wouldn't back down. I was very disappointed with the length of service, with its quality and the outrageous charges. Today I went to the store to clarify the bill, and there were two salespeople, and one of them was the same Jay, who said that the manager I had talked to on the phone yesterday was in fact the owner of the store and his name was Ben. He defended his owner fervently, saying that he can overrule him, and that I allegedly had agreed to the new charges (how could I turn them down with a door with a removed broken lock?) and to my argument that I was double-charged, said that the new lock doesn't include a multi-lock cylinder. Jay was disrespectful and rude this time. They suggested to me to come later to meet with the owner Ben and dispute the bill with him. I'm not going to waste my time and to spoil my mood again with such jerks. The store must reveal all the charges upfront. If I got locked out, it means that the lock might have been broken, not only the cylinder, which, anyway, you would drill out to open the door. Gus read more

I had a great experience with Armor. First of all, they are the least expensive around, and I checked several places. Tiffany, their service person, was helpful and cordial throughout. Though initially there were problems programming the remotes, they kept at it till they resolved the issue. My perspective--problems come up in every area of life be it service or repairs or whatever. The key point for me is whether you get abandoned in the face of those problems or if the service people keep at it until the job gets done right. Extremely disappointed. Called on Saturday afternoon to find out if he's opened on Sunday, and was told yes--he's opened ALL DAY on Sunday! But when I got there, the store was closed. I actually dropped everything to be there on Sunday as this was, while not a real emergency, a very important visit nonetheless. Mr. Locksmith, if you're not going to be there, at least have the courtesy of telling your customers that you're not going to be there, or have a sign on the door explaining why you're not there. Communicating with your customers is very important. Two other customers, by the way, were outside with me, and they were angry as well. If I remember correctly, they also said that they were told that the store would be open on Sunday. At any rate, I wound up getting my keys made at a 99 cents store in a Chinese section of northern Queens. The service there was very good.
