Acai bowl was made from scratch, so there was a bit of a wait. (All of the products here, including the milks, seem to be made from scratch.) The acai base has a more banana-heavy flavor compared to other places I've had acai bowls from, which was a bit disappointing, but I liked that it came unsweetened (you can add sweetener if you want) and was assured that any sweetness came naturally from the fruits themselves. Inside of the cafe was completely empty when I went (early afternoon), but perhaps it would be more active in the morning. The inside was very bright and sort of trendy though, which made it feel less empty than it actually was. The guy at the counter was very nice and helpful, especially with questions about some of the ingredients. I was so excited when a friend got me a gift card to Arlee's. I have been a vegan for a decade now and it has been difficult to find good vegan eats in the Princeton area. I was also proud to be supporting a local business whose ethos seemed so closely aligned with my own views of being environmentally conscious/partnering with local suppliers. I understand that we are in the midst of a global pandemic, but literally nothing here is fresh or made-to-order. As someone who has severe food allergies, it was disconcerting that the girl behind the counter could not tell me any of the ingredients that were in their products. I flipped open the menu on my phone and skimmed through what I could eat, and decided to try the vanilla cheesecake. The cheesecake was so overwhelmingly tart and tangy that I threw up-- I like lemon, but this was overwhelming! I've been wanting to go to this little place in Princeton for some time now, and today I was finally in the area. I was super excited to try their vegan treats since they seemed really delicious on their menu and I have never tried a real cheesecake, almond butter cup, or cinnamon roll so I was super psyched. (I have a dairy allergy which is why I've never tried any of these before.) So, I ordered the three treats mentioned, and the total came out to be roughly $16, after a 10% student discount. I brought these goodies home and immediately dug in, only time be dissapointed. I think my favorite of the three has to be the almond butter cup, since I'm a sucker for chocolate, but that was about it. The cheesecake had way too much icing piled on top, and was too lemon-y for my liking. The cinnamon roll was a different story. Now I liked this one more than the cheesecake, but it just wasn't really dough-like and I could taste the individual grains of cinnamon. Despite all this, I do think that their shop is super small and cute, and their employees are really nice. On top of that, I like how they put the ingredient labels on the outside of all their containers so that consumers know what is in their products--something very helpful to me. Overall I feel like I didn't buy their best sweets but maybe I'll come back in the future and try some others. read more

I'm so confused by this place. It's a juice bar but it's like a juice bar from the future or one that came off the set of the movie The Fifth Element. There is no juicer in sight when you walk in, just a sleek, modern interior with glass cases full of lovely glass bottles of..."freshly" pressed juice. Don't get me wrong - the juice tastes good. And their selection is fine. Something green, something yellow, something red, etc. But come on guys. Anybody who knows anything about juicing knows that freshly pressed juice should be consumed within about one hour to get the benefits. For anyone who is someone besides anybody -- the major benefits of juicing include a fast injection of vitamins and digestive enzymes. Both vitamins as well as digestive enzymes in particular, are fragile items, susceptible to destruction at the hands of light, heat, and time. Fruits and Vegetables have, essentially, enough digestive enzymes in them to help an eater break down their fiber and no more. So when you remove the fiber through juicing you get those enzymes delivered to your digestive system in a bento box. It is helpful for kickstarting metabolic functions, healing to the gut, and not something that is easily accessible without something like a juicer. Vitamins are vitamins, but they break down too. Minerals are the ones that don't break down as easily, including in things like broths, even bone broth. So basically, unless there is a little juice elf working behind the scenes in Arlee's, what they are selling is wildly overpriced mineral juice. WILDLY. And while I'm glad that their combinations blow Whole Earth Center's out of the water, when I order a juice from Whole Earth, they make it for me right then. I'd much rather that. read more

Ugh this place is SO good but SO expensive (especially for a student). The only 'juice' I've tried is the almond milk cold brew latte, which I loved. Coffee lovers: don't be scared of the white color; it still tastes like a latte! In terms of food: I've tried the collard green red pesto wrap twice now, and I'm a huge fan! It's super flavorful, and doesn't taste at all like you'd expect healthy/raw foods to taste (as in, it's really good). It's crunch, refreshing, and full of veggies. Eating it can get a little messy though, so make sure you grab some napkins! I've also tried the cheesecake (made with cashews, I think) which I also highly recommend! The consistency and taste reminded me exactly of traditional cheesecake, and made me feel a little less guilty about indulging in my favorite dessert :) The only downside is the price, which I can understand. It's not the most accessible place price-wise or location-wise for a Princeton student, but I'm happy to treat myself to Arlee's every once in a while. read more

I was served by a lady who seems to be the owner//manager and was very helpful and offered me samples of most of their juices (which were all pressed via masticating juicer. They also sell healthy bars and snacks. I got the green wake up juice and it was pricey. They also charge you $1 for the glass bottle but if you return the bottle they give you the $1 back. I was strolling through the downtown Princeton area and I popped in to Arlee's. I was greeted right away by such a kind young woman named Sarah. She helped me navigate through the store, offered me a few delicious samples of some of the new juices they had concocted and told me if I had any questions that she was right there for me. I was the only person in the place, and it's very small so it was pretty easy to navigate from that point forward. I decided on an immunity booster shot and tried a few snacks.They have samples available so that you don't have to commit to an expensive snack or juice and less you really love it. They pride themselves on making everything natural and organic and you can taste that. No sugar or additives. Arlee's is the absolute perfect place for anyone who loves juicing. In a huge freezer lies a large variety of juices that are fresh, organic and delicious. From Kale and Apple to lemon and giver, there's is little something here for everyone. All of the drinks come in bottles, which if returned, provides a discount toward the next juice you buy from them. This is an excellent idea that promotes health beyond just the juices they sell. I've picked up lunch from here twice: first time was a Spicy Eden wrap- since this is a raw foods place, the wrap seemed to be made of dehydrated fruit and seeds (slightly sweet, slightly chewy) and it was actually really good. I wish there was more avocado in it since it was mostly collard greens, but the flavors were tasty and fresh. I got the pizza today- again, the pizza is made of raw ingredients (calibrate your expectations accordingly): the crust is savory and more biscuit-like than a conventional dough, but still tasty. I was pleasantly surprised by how large it was, and the large amount of hummus and tasty fresh seasonings on top. It's more expensive than the wraps, but more filling IMO. Like everyone else, I was super confused when I walked in. It's a juice bar and there was no juicer, or anything that would involve making juice. There was a fridge with premade juice already in it. To me, there's no advantage of going here when I could go to playa bowls, have fresh juice made right in front of me, and it's probably cheaper. I was pleasantly surprised to find this place as a nearby stop to get fresh pressed, raw, organic juices. Young lady working was helpful and informative. Having had experience with these types of juices, I went in with a good idea of what I wanted to get. I was offered samples if I wanted to try out any of the juices. She was reluctant to let me try one of the samples because it had been made 2 days prior so it was getting close to the sell by date and she didn't want to give me a sample that she didn't feel would do the drink justice. The samples actually helped with my decision and after making my selection, the drinks were put in a nice mini cooler bag for me to carry. They also provide a discount for returning the bottles. Previously my experience with juicing was the Cooler Cleanse. So that is what I was comparing Arlee's to. There were a few of those drinks that I actually enjoyed but most i'd drink down fast to avoid the taste. However, with Arlee's the drinks I thought I wouldn't enjoy I found myself enjoying. I did like the Kale Blend 2 over the Kale Blend 3. As was explained to me in the store, the lower the number, the sweeter the blend was. So 2 is sweeter than 3, 1 is sweeter than 2. That was definitely the case after trying both drinks. The Pineapple Blend I expected to enjoy and it did not disappoint. You get that initial Pineapple taste with the mint flavor coming at the end to leave a little aftertaste. The one I didn't expect to like was the Beet Blend. My experience with the "Red Drink" during my Cooler Cleanse wasn't pleasant. That was one of the drinks i'd get down fast because it had a chalky taste to it. It featured the same ingredients, Beets/Carrots/Apple/Lemon but at Arlee's they add in Ginger. I'm not sure if it's the Ginger that made it that much better but I actually enjoyed the Beet Blend. The last drink I purchased was the Almond Blend. I got both the one with Raw Cacao and the one without it. This was my favorite drink with the Cooler Cleanse. It always came at the end of the night after a full day of juices and featured raw almonds/ vanilla bean/ dates/ filtered water and would taste like a milkshake. Arlee's goes with Organic Sprouted Almonds/ Organic Raw Agave/ Organic Cinnamon/ Organic Vanilla/ Distilled Water. The cinnamon really adds a nice spice to the drink. I do prefer the Blend without the Raw Cacao but both were enjoyable. I'll definitely be returning to Arlee's and i'm excited to now have a go to spot to get good juice. The only negative is that the larger, main bottles cost $10 which can become pricey if you go through them quickly but these types of juices are never cheap. I would highly recommend Arlee's to anyone looking for cold pressed, raw, organic, juice. read more

I usually buy green juice from whole foods or make it myself, but this place is my new stop! Since the juice is so fresh, I definitely notice it tastes better than bottled juices that have been sitting on the shelves for a long time. Juices are a little more expensive then other raw juice you can buy at the store, but I'm totally willing to spend a couple extra bucks for the quality, freshness and to support a local business. Is this a scam or what ? Please read I have been juicing for a while now I make my own juices at home, when I found this place I said let's give it a try I was very disappointed. I use a Breville Juice Fountain Plus Juicer JE98XL I bought a two kale blend#3 and this is the first time I don't drink it right away I put it in my fridge look at the picture and see what happens. I have noticed that the last time that I bought the drink that it seems the more lemony than others. I went back to the store and they said nobody complained and they would not refund my money. They said it felt more customers complained they would check into it. I felt on satisfied by the action of the staff and the owner. Last time I was there I had asked them if they do add water to water them their drinks and they said no but some of the drinks they have to add water to like Almond milk blend. I felt this was a scam and they do add water to water down all the drinks and the Admore lemon to hide the taste of the water. You check for yourself. After I left a drink in my fridge for 24 hours it looks separated I tasted to drink without shaking it seem to me like it was water with lemon on top you do the test and see what happens. read more

They are so knowledgeable about their products, and I even learned about SourSop, looking younger already! I've visited this place many times before I actually bought something. The store looks very clean and neat. Products are very organized and the store has a modern feel. I tried the vegan cheesecake the other time and it was very delicious! I couldn't believe that it was made from plant based ingredients. This time I bought the Kale Blend #3. And the staff says it was freshly squeezed today. I could taste the freshness of the ingredients so I was happy about that. The only thing it bugs me is the price. A 16oz juice would be $10 plus tax...not very budget-friendly...but I believe they do subscription so you can save some money from that. Overall a great place! Didn't know this place had opened yet but walked over last week during a beautiful day to see - I was in luck because it was! They weren't stocked fully (they said I just missed their lunch rush) but they had enough to choose from. The person working (I think his name was Brian) was amazingly friendly and helpful. He let me try a beet juice and asked me what fruits/veggies I enjoy. The location is a little further down Nassau, but I think this place will thrive in Princeton. Juices are a bit expensive, but that's to be expected for convenience of not juicing at home. I'm glad they told me to keep my glass because if you bring them back you get reimbursed, although I'm not sure how much. Looking forward to trying more from Arlee's! read more

Juice! My new obsession. And out here in Jersey, I wasn't even sure if it's a thing. Like, not a smoothie dumped with protein powder. I mean a cold-pressed juice. The girl that works here is super helpful. I told her what I needed and she poured samples of four different kinds of juices - lemon, lime, carrot and pineapple. The lemon one has quite the kick of cayenne. I felt my sinuses open up immediately. And the girl said it helps open up your chest. My brother chose the pineapple one, which gave me energy and cleared my head. Oh and she told us about their student discount and knocked like $5 bucks off our order. Awesome, thanks. And if you bring the glasses back, you get a $1 each. Places like this in NJ are impossible to find. It's the kind of healthy and eco-friendly place you only really find on the West Coast. And really, even in NYC, places like this are sparse. And I really respect the simplicity of ingredients in the juices here. Other places I've gone to mix together like 7 different juices, and you can't really distinguish the ingredients' individual flavor. Not to mention it's mostly apple juice anyways. The lemon blend is extremely simple - lemon, water, cayenne, dates. So it does the specific task of opening up your sinuses/chest with pinpoint efficiency. And likewise with the pineapple juice, it clears out your head. I wish more people understood the value of juice. I feel like it's under-appreciated out here and people pass judgement on it. "Why would I pay 9 bucks for a juice?" How many times have you heard someone say that, right? And well yes, from a rational perspective, you have a point. But cold-pressed juice is an emotional experience. It makes me feel so much better, especially when I'm drained, hungover or tired. So when you talk about getting value for your money, think about how much you would be willing to pay for the best nutritional-value. In that sense, it's totally worth it. read more
