I have been a customer to this location for over 20 years. The previous owner even installed my original pump. I purchased a refurbished motor for my pool. The motor stopped working in less a week, so I took it back in to the store and was talked to like a child by Paul, because I did the work myself and had questions. Paul specifically was always helpful in the past, but lately however he seems to hate his job and is passive aggressive/rude to customers. Randy is no better as he seems to be running on a short fuse and annoyed by questions we as customers have. Overall this location has changed to the point that as of today this was my last day as a customer. I just asked for a refund and will find another location to find another motor. I think businesses forget customers have other choices and do not have to be treated with disrespect like this. read more

I purchased a Hayward TracVac on Saturday and immediately had problems wit it. When I went back to the store the employee first indicated I had installed it wrong. He then told me it wasn't his problem and I would need to take it up with Hayward. He further told me that te problem was caused by rhe design of my pool and I was i would need to take it with Hayward. Good luck with that! Haywards customer service number tells me I have called out of hours but the are open 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. I called at 4:30 pm local time on Monday and got this recording so I thought maybe it was North Carolina time so I called at 6:00 am MST and got the same recording. AZ Pool Stuff 07/08/22 6:49 PM On the fifth of July, I called AZ Pool Stuff and got a quote from Randy the owner f,or the past 2 years, what he would charge to install a spider gasket on my Pool multi-port valve and have a valve/union/part installed for a leak in the top of my pump. The price was agreed. At noon today, Sal came do the repair. I took him to my pool house. I then proceeded to watch Sal work on the gasket. He told me he didn't like people looking over his shoulder and he didn't like people watching him work. I backed off and walked outside for about 10 minutes and then walked back inside the pool house and sat on the opposite side of him working. After he finished screwing the top of the valve, I asked him which direction the gasket went into the valve, smooth side up or down. He did not answer. After finishing the gasket, he went back to his truck to get a Sawzall to cut the pipe to repair the pipe leak from the threads above the pump. I again asked how he handled the gasket. He mentioned silicon and I asked him how long should I wait before using the pool equipment; did it need to dry for a day or could I start it now. He did not answer. I then asked him where the valve (hi-temp valve) would go on the down-pipe to the pump that Paul at the store (AZ Pool Stuff) said would be needed for the repair. Sal told me he would repair the leak. I asked him how. He told me he was not there to answer questions, just to fix the problem. I again asked him how he was going to fix it so I could dismantle the pipe to add Teflon tape to the threads should it ever leak again. He told me he didn't answer questions, and he would not be teaching a class. I again told him that I wanted to make sure that what I envisioned was what he intended to do to fix the leak. He told me he was not there to answer questions, but to make the repair. I again told him I wanted us both to be on the same page and he said he was not there to make any decisions, just to make the repair. I rephrased my question and ask what was he going to be doing to fix the leak, to help me understand prior to him doing something that would not meet my desire in the future to add Teflon tape to the threads should they ever leak going inside the pump. I told him I wanted us to be in agreement before he started the repair so both of us would be on the "same page". Sal told me he couldn't work in "these conditions". He would not answer my two questions and asked me to leave the pool house. I told him, it's my pool equipment, it's my money and it's on my property. He refused to explain how he intended to fix the leak, so I told him to get off my property and I was going to call the store about him. He said he didn't care. He picked up his tools and left. I then called Paul at AZ Pool Stuff and told Paul what happened, how I needed to know when I could start the equipment. Paul said he would contact Sal, to find out when I could start my pump and call me back. I didn't receive a call back so I decided to go to the store to talk to him in person about how I was treated. I explained in detail to Paul in the store about what happened, and how I was surprised they would use someone (Sal) who was so disrespectful to me, a faithful customer for years. Paul then got Randy, the owner for me to talk to. Randy told me right off that he supported his employees. He also said he too refused to have any customer watch him work on their equipment; that he tells customers right off that he would walk off the job if they continued to watch and that Sal's demand is normal in the pool equipment repair business. He also told me he did the same thing on a repair job this morning to an owner who wanted to watch him work. Randy said that this is normal, that no one is allowed into a surgery room to watch, and neither are customers allowed to watch a mechanic fix their car. I told him I was well aware of OSHA standards, and a surgery room is not a pool house. Randy said having a customer present during repairs is unsafe for the person making the repair as it distracts him. I told Randy my questions were prior and after Sal replaced the first gasket and I felt my questions were respectful and reasonable. I told Randy I've done business in his store for years. Randy again said that he stood by how Sal treated me. I told him I was not feeling comfortable with his comments and that he was making it very difficult to retain me being a customer at his store. As I walked out, I asked Paul to call me about when I can start the pump... but he never called. I hope Randy contacts me later to make this a "win-win" solution to retain me as a customer and I can continue to get all my pool stuff from him. If not, it will reflect the lack of respect and character of Randy and his staff. I hope to post at a later date that this was resolved amicably. read more

I've owned my pool for over a year (two summers) and have done all my own maintenance. I've learned a lot about pools. I've mainly used Leslies but after needed some O-rings that they didn't have (though they did, they were just on a part in the store that they could have take off and given or sold me but wouldn't), I tried here. They had exactly what I needed. After looking around, their chemicals were cheaper and the acid is a higher concentrate than Leslies. I'm going here from now on. I have been a loyal customer of this store from the time it opened many many years prior to Randy the new owner buying the business. Let's say over 20 years at least I have been a loyal customer and the previous owner was very kind, courteous and helpful. When I found out he sold the business I will say that I was a little skeptical of what the new ownership would be. I went into the store and was helped by a gentleman by the name of Paul, who is wonderful! He's always very helpful, courteous and respectful. However, today I went in to make a large purchase. I needed an assembly, two sections of vacuum hose and a new gasket for my filter. Randy the owner explain to me what the proper name was for the part that I needed. I asked him if he had it he said yes I asked how much and he told me, I said sold I had a few more questions that I wanted to ask like cost to install and another customer walked in so I said go ahead and take care of that customer I have a few more questions. As typical a few more customers walked in I graciously said go ahead and take care of them as I waited patiently to the side, once he was done helping those customers I walked up with the two sections of hose asked Randy for the gasket and the assembly and said I'll take that for now. He says I just sold the assembly to that guy that was just in here. I honestly thought he was joking at first and said no really do you have it in the back? He said no I just sold it to that guy that was just in here I said, you are joking, right he says no, then he says I'll have one in on Monday. If Monday was convenient for me I would've come in on Monday . What business owner sells the last part that a customer is patiently waiting to pay for to another customer as they walk in the door after them? I want to be perfectly clear here, once Randy told me the price $160.00 I said sold I'll take it. It is beyond comprehension why anyone would do something like that to a customer. I write this review today because this isn't the first time that he has been disingenuous to me or disregarded me as a loyal customer. I would estimate that I have spent well over $3000 since Randy has been the owner I purchased a new pool vacuum I've purchased pool hose. I've purchased chemicals, skimmer basket replacement parts for my previous pool, vacuum pool floats you name it I've bought it at the store. After today I will never shop at this store ever again, I will pay more at another store. I will drive farther to get what is needed because I do not deserve to be treated the way Randy the owner treated me today. It's one thing to be knowledgeable in your field and explain or advise people that they're doing something in the wrong way. It's another to be arrogant and disrespectful. Went to another Pool store with my pool water to have them check it I was told my chlorine was off the charts and I needed Maratteck acid and I needed to drain my pool completely but not now but in the fall, they told me to drain my pool half wait a year ago which I did, so I took the same water sample this morning after I went to the first place to easy pool and stuff they did the test within moments there like you need just need some Maratteck acid everything is perfect, I said my Clerenes not too high they're like no it's perfect I love this place I will only be coming here from now on read more

After our house being without a diving board for months and the pool store blowing us off and actually claiming there was no solution for a replacement, other than spending thousands of dollars to install an entirely new setup, I did my research and found a replacement board in less than 2 days for a fifth of the cost they wanted to charge us. Once we told them that we needed our old board back so that we could fix the problem ourselves, Mike (the owner) took it upon himself to throw it out so that we couldn't use it as a template for drilling the new board. Well, I found a way around him and his bad business tactics to try and screw us out of more money. We made our own template using my mad measuring skills and now we have a perfect new diving board! Mike lost our business and we are happy to never deal with them again. After many years of the Burketts doing a lot of business with Arizona Pool Stuff, they will never get another dime from us again! read more

Had them replace our pool sand filter with a cartridge filter and drain our pool. I wanted to go with them to support local business over Leslies even though they gave a more expensive quote, plus our neighbor recommended them. While they are polite and friendly in store, our experience with them at our home was a different story. They didn't give us a time frame, showed up that morning and left after draining the pool because of an emergency with no explanation. Meanwhile, they left our equipment in our pool for a couple days staining the pool bottom rusty. I also started refilling the pool myself by the next day without their instruction but by that time the top step of our pool started peeling as it had been without water all day in the heat. They also didn't come back til I called and rescheduled and the owner was very short over the phone, again not giving a timeframe but insisting we leave the gate unlocked (who wants to do that)? Anyways they came and finished the job and spraypainted over our pool pump lid (I asked them to paint our pool pipes, but they did a sloppy job with that too). Only a week later also realized they never even took our sand filter which was left in our alleyway next to our door to backyard, while they charged us over $100 to haul it away. When I called to complain the owner said "it was heavy." Ok, how is that my problem? So after insisting they come back they showed up didn't knock or call (no timeframe again leave gate unlocked) and hauled it away. You guys lost a loyal customer. read more

In Store: Moved here to Phx over five years ago and went to different pool stores in neighborhood. My experience, Leslie's will always try to oversell you product you don't need, or are marginally helpful at best. AZ Pool has always been honest, never trying to oversell and prices have been comparable to Amazon (I'm frugal and can't help cross checking:) ). Would ALWAYS rather support neighborhood store when comparable. Pool Service: I work away much of the time and have been taken advantage by two other contractors before coming to AZ Pool. We've used their services for three years and love our dependable (and reasonably priced) weekly cleanings. Only company we have had where the tech leaves a check off sheet of what they have done each week on our patio table!! We had an issue with one of their guys last year, and they refunded us a month WITHOUT us asking, THAT is UNBELIEVABLE!!! We now have Eric and couldn't be happier:). This is my pool store for life! I have used them for years for everything from chemicals, to parts (hoses, new drain cover, brushes, o-rings, baskets... You name it), to repairing my old Hayward navigator vacuum. They are always courteous, helpful, and prices aren't bad. Have had problems with pump for some time. Was worried I was looking at a $1200 replacement pump. I called Monday, Paul came out Tuesday and fixed my problem. And not only was the service great, the cost was very reasonable. They didn't try to sell me more than I needed, just got the job done. Another place I called! didn't even return a call for 48 hours. We have shopped here for a few items like shock and chlorine. Recently our pump stopped working so we brought it here to be fixed. They sold us a new motor telling us our old one was bad. Got home and the new motor didn't work. Find out that they NEVER even tried to turn on the old motor we brought in. Turns out it was simply a bad switch to turn the pump on.....called them to get our old pump back and they said it was gone. SO basically we had a $2 fix that cost us $250....when we spoke to them they of course admitted no wrong doing at all and took ZERO responsibility for what happened. I will NOT return to this store for anything. read more

The store maybe a viable alternative to other stores but the service dept. is far from adequate. After spending over $2,500 and a year of 15 minute visits and replacing every part on my pool I was told "My pool was shot". I contacted another pool company and after an hour of replacing all the work performed by Arizona Pool Stuff SW my pool works great and hasn't looked this good in ten years! Arizona pool stuff has always been very helpful and yesterday I was amazed by their integrity. I went there thinking I should buy a new pump but Robert was able to talk me through repairing my own. Instead of spending hundreds, I spent $48. They may have lost out on selling a new pump yesterday, but they gained a customer for life. When I do need to buy a new pump, I will be sure to buy from them. read more
