Art always challenges one to shift one perspective and muse new ways of thought and bent on life. The patio and outdoor landscape is equal parts calmness with water gently gurgling, koi fish swimming with lush pretty plantings and equal parts First Friday pumping techno bass, food trucks and art stalls. If you find it's hard to get your child to practice music at home, you'll also know how nearly impossible it is when traveling. In the past I have contacted music schools, rented instruments, and even bought a keyboard and hardcase. Each of these solutions created its own problem from the school that said we could use any open practice room only to be barged in on by a very pissed off nine-year old who insisted we were using "her" piano, to having to returned to a music store for parts missing from the keyboard we rented, to having to pay a hefty additional fee to the airline for the oversized instrument case. By good fortune I found Dodge Music when planning our trip to Phoenix. Miciah made it easy to arrange and pay for practice space but the best part was the studio itself, a nicely furnished and impeccably clean room with a well-tuned baby grand. Sure beat the shoebox sized and airless practice rooms that we had to put up with in the past using console pianos that were on their last leg. Miciah was friendly, obliging but never intrusive and let my son get on with his practice as soon as we stepped in. An added bonus was Miciah's dog Gizmo, a very gentle, short-hair dog who would hang out with us. My son is very allergic to animal dander but both the house and Gizmo were almost antiseptically clean (compare my house anyway). My son didn't have any problems with his allergies and Gizmo was a welcomed lesson companion. Even though my son wasn't taking lessons from Miciah, I can say with confidence that his studio exude a relaxed atmosphere where one can readily focus on lessons. Thanks a lot, Miciah and you too, Gizmo!

The beginner class is 6 people for three hours, which lets you get a decent amount of 1 on 1 instruction when needed. You start out making bracelet cuffs and transition into rings and pendants after two classes. Copper & brass are free to use and silver is extra $$. Once you know you're going to start rings, I would go and buy your stones from S&J because it'll be cheaper!

Don't accidently go to Phoenix Theater when you come to the show. It is a smaller more intimate theater across the street in the BMO building. Snacks and beer and wine available. Right now performing, "You're a Good Man Charliie Brown" is on the schedule/kiosk. So if you have a really little one make sure they can sit for a bit longer show then say, what "Childsplay" shows are, which are usually 45 minutes to an hour or so. VYT Is really stupendous. I have seen many of their shows and they are all great! The kids are every talented. High quality. The costumes and the sets are usually pretty amazing too. They do a few shows a year. A lot of superstars have started their industrious careers here in show business, media, and other high profile jobs. Gone on to big things. Art makes you smart for sure!!! so whatever you choose to do in life even if you are not stage struck for a life in musical theater as an adult theater training has so many benefits to life in general whatever path you choose. So parents, if you have a mini Thespian on your hands, check them out. They split their time, or at least had been, between Herberger theater and their own house located on Filmore and around 1st street. Definitely an interesting experience, but I admit straight away that this experience is a little…read morepricey. I like the fact that there are daring enough to challenge the audience with nudity (both male and female) in a very tasteful artistic way and I'd give them high regard for that. It honestly reminds me a lot of what the Greeks used to do through the history of their plays and performances. There were a few minor things that I had disagreements about when I went. First off it may have just been that performance but the play I attended just didn't see them that well written. Again it could've been a bad play on this attendance and it doesn't mean I won't give it another chance to see if the writing of gotten a little better. On a positive side, it was good to see them use actors who are new to the acting experience to get them seasoning. So when you go you will definitely see local upcoming talent on stage. The other negative part I have was the sound quality. They had to use headset with microphone which I thought took away from the experience of watching one on stage. There are a lot of feedback issues, dropped sound quality, and the likes which took away from the experience. I think though this too could be rectified with a little work backstage for the next time. I would like to go again and see what they have to offer. Definitely This place gives you a whole new perspective to the idea of theater which I think is a good idea. It is a pricey ticket though so be forewarned.
