Definitely an interesting experience, but I admit straight away that this experience is a little…read morepricey. I like the fact that there are daring enough to challenge the audience with nudity (both male and female) in a very tasteful artistic way and I'd give them high regard for that. It honestly reminds me a lot of what the Greeks used to do through the history of their plays and performances. There were a few minor things that I had disagreements about when I went. First off it may have just been that performance but the play I attended just didn't see them that well written. Again it could've been a bad play on this attendance and it doesn't mean I won't give it another chance to see if the writing of gotten a little better. On a positive side, it was good to see them use actors who are new to the acting experience to get them seasoning. So when you go you will definitely see local upcoming talent on stage. The other negative part I have was the sound quality. They had to use headset with microphone which I thought took away from the experience of watching one on stage. There are a lot of feedback issues, dropped sound quality, and the likes which took away from the experience. I think though this too could be rectified with a little work backstage for the next time. I would like to go again and see what they have to offer. Definitely This place gives you a whole new perspective to the idea of theater which I think is a good idea. It is a pricey ticket though so be forewarned.

The show was fabulous and we all really enjoyed it (even my teens who complained about going to a show in the first place) We found the theatre itself easy to access and scored a great parking spot even though we arrived just about 10 minutes before the show was set to start. It said 7:30 start time but probably started closer to 7:45. Tickets were waiting at will call as requested and all of the staff working that evening were super friendly. At the performance we saw, the role of Evan, normally played by Mason Ballard, was played by his understudy, Daniel Shain Graf and he did an excellent job as did the rest of the actors. We purchased some refreshments at intermission, which were very overpriced, but that is to be expected at all entertainment venues these days. Thanks to all of the companies and individuals who contribute to the arts to keep this theatre company going... we will definitely be back!

Western States Ticket Service has been the major player in after market tickets in the valley for…read morethe past two decades. I am unsure if they are still part of a larger affiliation of companies, but I know there was a Pacific States Ticket Service operating out of Seattle, WA, that they referred me too for some Dave Matthews Band tickets back in the day. There is not much to say, they are the same as every other ticket broker, but more efficient and more trust worthy. They over charge ridiculous amounts for tickets to any event within Arizona, including music concerts, sporting events, golf tournaments, etc.. You can try and negotiate with them over the phone and depending on demand, you might get somewhere. Be prepared to deal with some really bullshit fees and service charges for using your credit card. That being said, you can guarantee your tickets will always be waiting for you, they have not been in business for this long because they aren't delivering as promised.

You could tell this was a very casual event and fortunately most people finished their meal before the two performers began, but there was still some paper rustling and chip crunching so maybe quieter food in quieter packaging would help in the future ;) I loved how before the performance the garage door style wall was up so we had plenty of fresh air and light, and I was impressed with the screen image of curtains on the stage which as you can see in the pictures, really gave an excellent trompe l'oeil effect! On January 28, 2026, Sam Krausz (tenor),Yichen Xue (baritone), and Wan-Ting Yu (pianist) were all superb, and Yichen Xue was a real hoot as he really got into his role in the Così fan tutte piece where he is trying to convince a woman that he is the best man for her so he flexed his muscles and mimed reading a book, and showed how he could dance and sing. Not all pieces had adequate introductory information which was too bad as it is crucial since there were no projected subtitles as we had hoped. The online program just listed the songs and which opera they were from, but didn't even give an English translation or any helpful context for the song, so I think that should be considered for the future. It would also be a great encouragement to attend their big production if they could have one piece from it, even if it's just some piano music to tease people into attending. Perhaps they could also offer a little perk like a 1/2 price drink at Symphony Hall if you show you attended the Opera for Lunch production. Cultivating new patrons with little perks is always a good idea.

I appreciated how they had multiple sign language interpreters, as well as overhead subitites in English and Spanish. My daughter had a lovely time and enjoyed the show. She said she enjoyed hearing the singing and the opera singers really do have amazing voices. Before and after the show there is a crafts activity. For this year they had a decorate your own hand drum and there was also a goody bag to take back which had a sweet treat, a music toy, lanyard and a few small fidget toys. The only negative is that there might be a lot of road closures if another event is going on downtown and the parking lot is a little small so it can fill up easily.

CCT's first production of 2010 was last night's "Love Letters," a dramatic reading of letters that span about half a century documenting the relationship between the wealthy and extravagant Melissa and her grounded and focused friend Andy. While I won't go into great detail (go see it for yourself--there's another showing tonight and three more for the next two weekends) I must say Amy Henstra--who was also the director and producer--did an amazing job of making Melissa a complex and interesting character. We were fortunate to not have obstructed views, which are possible as the seating is all flat. However, the chairs are mighty comfortable. We were also lucky enough to meet the staff that help with the box office and concessions, all of whom were darling. How was going to see a play in a church? Interesting, especially when you consider the content and language of "Love Letters." I'm excited to see what other productions CCT will bring to stage. Now that its on our maps, CCT and N2T just across the parking lots, will likely see us more frequently. And based on that, CCT may be seeing an increase in stars.
