    Before "Heathers"
    Richard B.

This theatre company is known to do things off the beaten path, and the Stray Cat production of Heathers lived up to the billing. This was their first musical in a while, from what they told us, and you could tell from the occasional sound issues. It may be the venue (somehow both too small and too cavernous for the live, often rushing, band), so I'm excited to see what they do in different valley venues (as they become a traveling company this year). The performances could definitely fill a bigger venue! The Heathers were all played well, and the jocks were a great fit as a comic duo. Cole Brackney was a serviceable voice and sizeable (albeit rather small) presence as J.D., but Brittany Howk was on another level vocally and emotionally as Veronica. It reminded me a little of seeing Chris Mann in the traveling production of Phantom Of The Opera: that girl could be something big. The band, as mentioned before, tended to rush the tempo significantly, leading to some songs losing their most powerful moments, but they definitely had talent and could be significantly better by the time you are reading this. I've run sound before so I'll have some Grace on the tech crew (that size a production going through three 15s isn't gonna cut it, unless your sound guy is a minor deity). This is a 4 star production/company. They are darn good, entertaining, and have the potential and talent to be the best live production in the valley with a bit more development.

I still enjoyed my time each time even though we were probably the youngest as someone got my husband and I tickets here for my birthday the past two years. The music was fantastic and we saw the variety show and the Grand Finale show and I enjoyed seeing multiple genres of music. The lead singers and musicians were phenomenal, and I absolutely loved the costume changes. The outfit changes really held my attention and was a great part of the show. The food, however, was just okay. I wouldn't come here for the food alone, but rather for the overall experience and to do something different. The meal included vegetables, potatoes, mashed potatoes, spinach cheese ravioli, chicken Parmesan, pulled pork dish, and a pineapple fish dish. This was the same food both times we went, so I'm not sure if they ever change it, I wish they did for a change. The pulled pork and cheese ravioli were good, but I wasn't a fan of the other dishes. The chicken Parmesan was probably the worst I've had as it wasn't at all what I expected from a traditional chicken parm. Dessert is a slice of chocolate cake that's already at your table when you arrive. I did think it was a nice touch that they pass out foil before the show ends so you can take it home and not waste it. The recommended tip listed on a sign at the table is $5 per person, so in addition to your ticket price, expect to pay at least that much extra. Drinks are also not included, so that's another added cost. Overall, this is a great experience, more so for 50+ and would make a fun gift, especially for a couple looking to do something different. I wish they had a family friendly show where it encouraged families with kids as I could see my kids who love music at 2 and 4 enjoying the show and dancing! I sat about in the middle of the theater and had a good view of everything. I really think most seats will be just fine!

There's a variety of food and it was all delicious. There's a few different proteins, this night was swiss cheese chicken, pulled pork, and beef stroganoff. The was roasted red potatoes and garlic mashed potatoes with gravy. And sides that included suateed vegetables and cheese raviolis , dinner rolls and butter. There was also a salad bar, but after a little bit of everything previously mentioned I was way too full. Had to save room for the chocolate cake. Then came the show. I never saw Elvis when he was alive, so I was excited to see this show. The guy does a great Elvis impersonation, taking you from the 60s Elvis, advancing to the Vegas Elvis era. And, since "and Friends", other folks in the crew did tributes to act like Bobby Darrin, Nancy Sinatra, Tony Orlando, Barbera Streisand, Melissa Manchester, etc. All people Elvis worked with to some level in his lifetime. Interspersed, was information about Elvis, the things he did for people, and discussions of the songs he sang. It was informative and very entertaining. The whole crew were incredibly talented at both singing and playing their instruments. The Silver Star also offers other variety shows, like a Country Music one, classic radio music one and a couple others. I had never been to a dinner theater before and really enjoyed it. If you're looking for something to do for a full evening or maybe have people visiting and looking for something to do, you should totally go!

I was SO wrong and so happily surprised. The place was absolutely bumping. There was a show that night, and Celine Fatale was the first DJ to come out and she completely set the tone for the entire night. From the start, the energy was perfect and just kept building. I honestly have not had that much fun dancing on a random night out in a long time. The bartenders were so sweet, the bouncers were fun and welcoming, and the whole staff contributed to such a positive, safe vibe. But Celine really made it special. Her remixes were so good, and she was incredibly engaging with the crowd. She was dancing with us, feeding off the energy, and you could tell she genuinely loves what she does. At one point, some people in the crowd had this random toy they were obsessed with, and she actually grabbed it and started dancing with it. It was such a funny, spontaneous moment that made the night feel even more connected. I would absolutely go back again, especially if Celine Fatale is DJing. It turned into one of the most unexpectedly fun Valentines nights ever.

We even dressed up a bit to match the vibe, and I have to give credit where it's due--the DJ was bringing nothing but heaters all night. The music was easily the highlight. The bar, on the other hand, was pretty underwhelming. My wife ordered a Tequila Sunrise that was unfortunately awful, while I played it safe with a bottled Coors. The drink selection felt limited, and the bartenders seemed fairly inexperienced. The turnout was respectable, and there was good energy throughout the night. That said, something about the overall atmosphere felt...off. Maybe Hollywood has completely skewed my expectations of what a rave is supposed to feel like, or maybe it was simply the smaller venue. Either way, I walked away expecting just a little more. Even so, the night accomplished one important thing: it convinced my wife that she'd like to go to more raves. I'd call that a win.

But, hands def get dirty! I'd done VIP and general admissions. First time: perhaps fun for a little extra perk like sit closer and get a cheap little banner to wave in the air or the group photo. General admission: you can still see everything and food is the same. Just back a row or two. *an upgraded option does give you cake and it is not much better than the eclair* When you come in and grab a drink waiting to enter the arena, they force you to buy an overpriced souvenir cup for any beverage you get (alcohol or non-alcohol). When you sit down for the show, you do get offered lemonade, Pepsi, or water in their cups (no cup fee). 25oz mug w beer $25 $15 light up plastic glass w slurpee for minor (possibly around 12oz) I gave it four because I think you should be able to buy a cocktail without being forced to buy an overpriced cup. The server was super sweet but def seemed overwhelmed but she handled it well. At the end they expect a $5-10 tip per person ($5 for kid). On top of the already $80 bucks). This seems a bit much for an overwhelmed server slapping your 6 items on your plate from her massive serving tray (drink, bread, tomato soup, chicken corn/potato, and a little eclair (seemed like those cheap little frozen ones from the grocery). They should hire a server per row.

The biggest surprise was the food. I expected typical dinner-show food, but it was actually really good -- hot, flavorful, generous portions, and eating with your hands somehow makes the whole medieval experience even better. The show kept him entertained the entire time, the horses were beautiful, and the staff did a great job keeping everything moving smoothly. Also worth mentioning: parking was incredibly easy. We got in without any hassle and were out of the parking lot very quickly after the show, which is rare for a big attraction. A really fun, memorable night and exactly the kind of reset an excited 10-year-old needed after two intense weeks of 5th grade. Definitely a 5-star experience for us.
