Already into icing protocol to reduce swelling
Gregory B.

My 8 year old Golden Retriever came up lane after playing with some other dogs on Memorial Day afternoon. By 9 pm she still couldn't put any weight on the leg and so I Googled emergency vets. Amazingly ARISE is a true emergency vet and is open 24 hours a day even on holidays. I ALSO LIKE THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE ORTHOPEDIC SURGICAL SPECIALTY THERE. I SUSPECTED MY GIRL HAD TORN HER LEFT CRUCIATE LIGAMENT BECAUSE THREE YEARS AGO SHE HAD TORN THE RIGHT ONE IN A WORK ACCIDENT. THE SYMPTOMS LOOKED VERY MUCH THE SAME. ALSO ARISE WAS ONLY 20 MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE IN QUEEN CREEK. When I arrived at the facility, a young lady from the front desk came and open the door for me and asked how she could help. I briefly explained what was going on and she asked me if I needed help getting my dog into the lobby when I told her I did She arranged for veterinary staff to get a gurney out to my car and help lift my girl out and bring her back into the examination room. There were several other people waiting at this late hour in the emergency room lobby and only one attending that on staff for the night so it took about three hours before my girl was seen. But still, I was very grateful. About 1 AM the vet came out, sat down with me and explained what she was thinking which matched my worst case scenario. The staff made me a surgical consult appointment in the morning for 10 AM and sent me home with some pain meds. I came in in the morning for the 10 AM appointment and ended up meeting the orthopedic surgeon who I liked very much. She's done this procedure many times and recommended We put my girl on the calendar for the surgery the very next morning with a 7:30 am drop off . I walked out of there this morning very impressed by all the staff again as well as the surgeon and I'm confident things will go as well as they can tomorrow. I'm very grateful for how I was treated. Have to add post-surgical compliment. Got calls from staff as she went under anesthesia, and then into actual surgical procedure. Couple hours later, call from surgeon explaining how everything worked and setting up discharge session. Love they keep the patient overnight to stabilize on pain management. Next morning went over to get her and spent about 45 minutes with nurse and surgeon going through post/surgical care, answering ALL my questions and they even helped me get her in my car. Really an all around excellent standard of care. Now it's in my hands to manage her recovery.

This is PARIS, she is our love bud, one of 4 pups

Our pup was sick, found out she had a fever 105 degree In bad shape needed over night W/ meds Next day we brought her home She's getting better each day The staff was excellent in every way She was their #1 patient at that time & next day

inside waiting room

The staff were amazing! They were very attentive to my nervous black lab that had to stay overnight. They called me with updates on her even at night which I thought was very reassuring since she was there overnight & has separation anxiety. Staff did an excellent job informing me on what was going on with my pet & how they were going to treat her since she ingested something she wasn't supposed to. I hope I don't have to come back, but if I did I would be more than happy to! :)

Waiting

They nice ya, but almost every other dog was seen before ours. She had pulled both of her hips and almost every dog has been seen before her, I wish they just give her pain medicine for now but we have been here for about 4 hours!?

Our Shih-Tzu took a flying leap as though she had wings and broke her leg. Our whole experience from the front desk through the technicians and medical team was very friendly, professional, and assuring. And a big shout out to Dr. Bates for the amazing surgery she did on Lulu's ankle & paw

Do not go there. Brought a puppy into the emergency room. Puppy had fever and elevated heart rate. Vet made it seem like he was in distress and said that she thinks he has distemper. Was offered 3 choices. 1st 24 hour to stay which was 2800, 2nd 12 hour stay 2100, 3rd option was to put puppy down and send body to a lab for testing. I called my brother and he said what is the discharge option. They gave the puppy fluids and sent me on my way for 720. Woke up at 3 am and puppy was completely back to normal. Thank goodness I didn't put him down. Took 3 days to get results and the distemper test was negative. I paid $720 for nothing. And was so scared for 3 days that my 10 dogs had distemper. Do not go there. Only good thing is the front desk had good customer service. I did not refuse diagnostics by the way. The vet said he most likely had distemper. Her advice was to euthanize him. Thank goodness I didn't follow her recommendation. I'm so thankful I asked my brother what to do. He was the one that told me to wait for results and do outpatient treatment first. I really hope that this situation is being shared so that the staff can learn from Rollo's experience. I have shared my experience with the valley and all my doggie clients will be aware of what happened. Update 7/15/24 Rollo is doing well. He is growing and thriving with siblings.

Note the large elbow swelling which he ordered Amantadine an antiviral for his pain and swelling

$245 visit and the valley fever specialist Dr Clark did not assess my dog, do labs, or lay a finger on him and sent us home with an antiviral rx to control his pain and a sedative for him to take when he comes back for a visit because he growled out of fear at the visit. An improvement would be a professional exam, with labs, X-rays and experience in handling animals that may bark or growl (animal bedside manner and skill).

Having to say goodbye to my beloved dog of 15 years was absolutely heartbreaking, and it was not an easy decision to make. From the moment we were there, they treated us with so much understanding, patience, and gentleness. They understood that Kiki was not just a pet to us; she was family. She had been part of our lives for 15 years, and saying goodbye to her was like losing a piece of our hearts. Kiki had held on as long as she could for us. She was sick and aging just wasnt kind to her. It was hard to let her go but we had to set her free from pain. Now we live with it each day. But, During such an emotional and painful time, their compassion made a difference that I will never forget. They made an incredibly difficult experience feel a little more peaceful, and I will always be grateful for the care and respect they showed Kiki and our family. Thank you for being so kind to us when our hearts were breaking.

Read the reviews I'm not the only one who has had this experience. A man had to bury his best friend in one. A woman almost lost her kitty in another, took them to court and a judge ruled the vet was not fit for practice suspended license for a year. Read the reviews. Almost a quarter of them are the same thing. Sirena's life was taken because they failed to run appropriate tests including xray to determine and diagnose. They lead to her getting worse not better and then administered incorrect dosage for sedation and pain management leading to death. They failed to properly supervise her under anesthesia. They failed to inform me of any risks, alternatives, or the prognosis of the treatment. They lied on the report several times falsifying what happened so they could be unaccountable. This place did not care about the consequences of taking a life nor what it does to a family after the fact. Sirena was a victim and this will happen again unless you don't give them the chance. My Sirena was with me everyday for 4 years and trusted me to take care of her and I let her down going to this place. She deserved better! It breaks my heart reliving being at Gilbert Queen Creek emergency veterinarian and specialist center. I know Sirena would be alive today if I had gone elsewhere. Crystal the hospital director called 5/1/26 offering 300$ "on the books" saying they could have done better. I will never go back to Gilbert queen creek emergency veterinarian. I was shocked she would even insinuate that I would. The grief of losing Sirena and having conversations with these people mentally and physically takes a toll on me. If Sirena was given critical care, the right care from the right specialist, she would be alive today.

They kept our pup overnight to monitor for more seizures, give her IV fluids, etc. We brought her home today. I have a medical background and I found the care was excellent, appropriate and the communication was great. I received 3 calls from the various vets on duty and each time they were informative and kind. My regular vet had already been notified within about 12 hours of admission and they called to check on us. The only hesitation of have is the cost of services. It seems very expensive. Medication that they provided when we took the pup home cost $62.38 for 30 pills. The price for 120 tabs from Chewy is $25.08. I understand the cost of intensive/ER services is exorbitant in general but $2000 for a 24 hour visit is something that many people can not afford.

When we arrived, we had to place her on the metal table, She wanted to stand, so she was just standing on a hard, cold surface. We were never offered a blanket to make her last moments comfortable while we were waiting for the vet to come by. We were probably waiting about 10-15 minutes in that room before we were seen. During the procedure, they administer sedation before euthanasia. When they explained the procedure to us, they said they wait a few minutes after sedation to let it kick in. However, during our procedure, they administered sedation and immediately followed it with the euthanasia. There was no time for our girl to get to sleep, and we were given no time with her before the final injection was administered. After the procedure was complete, the vet tech said "I'm so sorry!" to us about 8 times before we left the building. I understand there's no words to say in moments of loss, but that quantity of apologies is disingenuous and becomes annoying rather than sympathy. We had her cremated. It took close to a month to receive her ashes back. In that time, we had to follow up with them several times to ask when we would receive her ashes and were never given a firm date. I understand these things take time. However, constantly leaving people in the dark with no time estimates of service completion is frustrating in the best of times, agonizing when it's the loss of a loved one. There are better services out there that will keep your pet more comfortable and treat you with more respect in a time of loss.
