It was a random day that we ended up at Paul Revere for a seemingly random craving for a Stromboli…read morethat brought me in. Hoping that what we say online from so many people in Delco was the definitive answer for a wonderful Stromboli, the drive out to Lansdowne was done and there I stood in front of the unique counter that drops down about six feet into the kitchen, a setup I simply still don't really understand, waiting for the boli promised to be the ultimate in its field by the people of the area. We had ordered the roast pork stromboli and when it arrived from deep within the bowels of the seemingly subterranean kitchen, I could see the steam coming from the box and could smell the delicious amalgamation of cheese, meat, and sauces within the folded dough. I raced the box back to the car and quickly drove home to cut the thing open to find exactly what I had hoped. An explosion of delicious flavor in all of its glory; still piping hot, quickly devoured! While I cannot say definitively that this is absolute best Stromboli in Delco or "that I've ever had" as I was guaranteed it was, it was exceptionally outstanding. I will be returning here whenever I am passing by the area and will be trying other stromboli offerings. If you are local or simply nearby, you should check out Paul Revere as well and experience the wonder of a top-tier, interestingly different, Stromboli from the heavens of the kitchen of deliciousness.

Tried a few places in the area, with mixed results (some really good, some never again). Bro-in-law (not a particulary astute judge of pizza, being from Amish-adjacent country), suggested this place. It was close by, it was really rainy out, and we were all way hungry--us, dad, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids. Called in an order for some pies--Cheese, sausage, pepper and onion, and margherita--and salads, picked them up, nabbed a coupla chocolate chip cookies that looked amazing, and brought all of back in a jiffy. Open the pizza steamy boxes, mmm smelled sooo good. Uh, what? It's square. Ah, DGAF, let's dig in! Really, really good. Right tanginess to the sauce, nice chewy-crispy dough, salty cheese (perhaps a touch too much, but that seems to be the norm outside the NYC metro area). Salads were tasty, too. Oh, and those cookies. I think I ate them all myself.

Please please please change it back to the OG recipe.

Nice place. great parking. people friendly. Got cheesesteak and a cutlet…read more Cheesesteak was very good. I found out afterwards a seeded Sarcone bread was available but for a charge. I prefer seeded roll but I still enjoyed the cheesesteak. Strange how they asked me which cheese i wanted but not the bread. The chicken cutlet sub was delish. However the cutlet was chopped up. A cutlet to be chopped up on a sliced completely open sub roll. What a disaster with nothing to bind it together! First time for that and what a mess it was ! Probably would've been good chopped in a wrap or on a salad. It was my first time. Now I know. Next time i'd get seeded roll for cheesesteak and ask to not chop up the cutlet. Delicious food.

I got a good feeling about Mel's. I decided to get the ultimate cheesesteak. The ultimate cheesesteak is a filet mignon cheesesteak. It has a $16.95 price tag. That should have been a flashing red beacon of 'Jim don't get this cheesesteak.' The meat was very good. I repeat, the meat was very good. I don't think the other stuff worked with the meat. The roll was pretty traditional. It had a Mel made cheesy combination of American cheese and Wiz, I thought this was too much. I think the great meat only needed complementary pieces. We took our Cheesesteak to 2SP Brewing Company. Next time we'll go straight to Aston Abbey. How can you dislike very good filet mignon?
