While visiting family in the Philly area, the suggestion was made to try this establishment. Fist, the facility was very clean, with large dining accommodations. Must say the decor was not what I had expected just from looking at the outside. The food was just ok and could have had a few things added to make it a delicious meal. I have never been to a restaurant that doesn't have Tabasco. What's that about? I love Tabasco on my omelet and my hashbrowns. In addition, small I divided syrups that just doesn't do it for me if I'm having a short stack of pancakes. Please make changes that compliments the food in a greater light. Service was a bit slow, but not sure if it's because it was a Saturday and busy. Our server was polite, but thought she may not have wanted to be there. It adds a damper when sitting with family and they notice it. Overall, ok food, service and location. If I was to suggest this restaurant, it's a maybe as I have had better food. Semper Fi....

I love a diner. I'm originally from the northeast but live in SC now and we just don't have the…read moresame kind of diners that I had before - don't get me wrong, I love a Waffle House but it's not the same. This was a really great spot. My coworker and I were over in North Jersey for work but flew in and out of PHL rather than facing Newark. In order to beat the crazy construction traffic outside of Philly and to have a buffer for whatever TSA nightmare we were going to face, we got back near the airport early... like 4 1/2 hours before our flight kind of early. I wanted breakfast outside of the airport so I found this spot while he was refilling the rental car. I got the French toast with homefries. The french toast was perfect, with just a tiny bit of crisp in spot from the griddle. Same with the homefries. I would have liked a bit more seasoning while they were cooking, but a bit of salt and pepper and I was good to go. My coworker got the big breakfast but subbed out the homefries for corned beef hash. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. The pancake was huge and he said his over medium eggs were cooked exactly like he hoped they would be. Now I just need to plan out my flights so I can come get breakfast here again and try one of the sandwiches, or omelettes, or maybe get French toast again...

Solid diner - huge menu, something for everyone…read more Friendly service, good food, plenty of parking and seating.

Heard about this place as a hidden gem for breakfast, but this rating is for lunch. The location…read morewasn't too difficult to find thanks to the map, but it is slightly off the beaten path for sure. The guy working in the kitchen was very nice and recommended a cheesesteak for lunch. Amoroso rolls were what he told me they use for bread. They have several tables for dine in and the place was well heated for a cold winter day. It was simple and clean inside. My cheesesteak was average, it was pretty greasy and flavor wise wasn't bad. I'm not a huge fan of amoroso rolls for cheesesteaks, the grease also soaked into the roll quite a bit. The portion size was small, but the for the price I think it was on par. I think I paid just under $6 for the sandwich. I'll have to return for breakfast which seems to have much better reviews!

The GPS will direct you to take the unpaved ominous looking road of 'Calcon Hook' but it's not the only way in Chester Pike to Sharon Avenue is an alternative. Once you locate the restaurant it will remind you of a trailer, in a movie about construction workers. Inside it's spacious with plenty of seating and fairly clean considering the age and lack of updates. On this date I'll give a little leeway to service because the cook was in the hospital and the lady 'owner' was alone. But I'm here to tell you she worked that grill, those phone calls, the counter and tables! I ordered the hungry man special 3 eggs, home fries, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 French Toast and 2 pancakes all for $6.99! It was good and plentiful. Each item was enjoyable. I have to say I had several cups of coffee and it's some of the best around. Next time I'll bring a book to read as I sip my coffee and wait!

Just went here for Christmas dinner and the entire experience was great!…read more We nearly forgot that the Chinese-all-you-can-eat place was not open Christmas day so like the years before, we went to this location for December. Spending a holiday here was pleasant with good food, kind staff, and great service. The food I had included a special which was a stuffed green pepper and had mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts for the sides. Preceding that was a tasty beef orzo soup. My parents enjoyed the food as well. Almost as a tradition we were curious about dessert which we usually end our meal on at this place. When I checked out the spread alone I was in over my head trying to see the almost countless sweet options. But that was when a major person on the staff (possibly the owner) let me know what everything was. I was impressed he knew the vast amount of cakes down to the cupcakes and tarts! My dad and I both selected the German chocolate cake while my mom desired the lemon meringue. All was tasty! If you need a place any time of the year (or on a festive celebration) come to the Springfield Diner with good friends and you will have a nice time!
