Their instructors are very knowledgeable about different dance genres and their history. The facilities are clean and well-organized, and both locations have designated parking spots. The only downside is that it can get quite hot during classes, especially when we're moving quickly and there are many people. It would be even better if the windows were open or if there were fans to help circulate the air in addition to the AC. Overall, the instructors and classes are great--I can't wait to come back for more!

The waiting room is always clean and the staff periodically cleans the floors and bathrooms. They really do a good job at keeping things clean and orderly here for the students and parents. They do screen out the windows to the practice rooms, so it's difficult to see inside so the students have some privacy when learning their choreography, which I know my son finds comforting. He's more on the shy side and he gets self-conscious when we watch him practicing or learning the choreography. I feel like here, they bring out the confidence in him. Even though he's a little ashamed to show us his dance routine sometimes, he really enjoys dancing and never wants to miss a class. We even had to adjust his Taekwondo schedule so he can make it to dance class. I definitely recommend Eastside dance for kids and adults who want to learn to dance. If I have time, maybe I'll give it a go. Update: Our friend's son wanted to try hip-hop and he tried out the kid's class. He really enjoyed it! He said he definitely wants to sign up for the class and he's joining the Eastside Dance Family! YAY!

The Scene I was a guest here for a five year old girls birthday from 1-3 PM. The child's class was invited and it was a mix of girls and boys. The format was, sit in a circle, introduce each other, start practicing lyrics and gestures to a song. Kids all go to the bathroom as a group. Eat Pizza / Fruit / Cake. Parents stand in a line behind a table. Performance of two songs. Some observations: Some kids were warmer uppers, like mine. They suggested I could sit in the circle with my kiddo to help her get acclimated. We were 6 minutes late. I did sit for a bit, but had to move to a chair. I did suggest my kid go and talk to a teacher and that seemed to help. There were two boys who kept playing outside the circle and not paying attention and following the rules. I was a bit bothered by this and am not sure what should have happened. 1. I wondered why the parents weren't encouraging their kids to participate. Was it because they were boys? And boys don't need to participate and follow instructions? 2. Why weren't the teachers trying to encourage the boys to participate? Were they assuming that because this was Disney princesses they wouldn't want to? All in all, I can't see everyone ignoring two girls not paying attention and doing their own thing and distracting the group. I feel like boys should be looked after and encouraged just as much as girls. While yes, the parents should have maybe done something, in situations like this, I try not to jump in, and assume the people who are being paid to run a two our event can work to include everyone. Loved that they had all of the kids go to the bathroom. Smart. One of the teachers seemed new, and didn't quite know the songs, she was looking at the more experienced teacher most of the time for guidance. I could see this made the students not know if they should look at her, or look at the obvious leader. Thought they could have done one dress rehearsal before showing the parents. Only one boy participated out of a group of aprox 25. 5-6 boys stood there. To me, this is a failure of inclusion.

The fact that that was a five minute argument was absurd!! so customer service goes a long way if you don't care about that then this is probably your place. it's very cute, and I loved everything about it except for the people that run it and that is the god honest truth. also don't go here if you don't want to feel bad about being 'poor' (less than 100k per year) .... not being able to afford a class when they're offering a scholarship to you but you're made to feel guilty and bad about it everyday. (the little backstory behind that is also we are exposed to start paying after this semester when we got back on our feet after moving here and spending all our money moving out here!) Our daughter would've loved to go back. And now I feel like she can't because of these people. Just really poorly mannered. Aside from that the classes were great.

We joined this school in 2018 after trying several other studios, which all got a thumbs down from my discerning daughter, who was very clear that she didn't want to participate in dance recitals with little girls in too much makeup and explosions of glitter, bows, and over-bedazzled costumes (just not her cup of tea). She wanted a serious, yet fun studio, and KKSD is it. From day one this has been my daughter's happy place. She has made great dance friends, and has felt well supported in her passion for learning many types of dance. The families here are wonderful. Miss Karina is a serious instructor, who doesn't over-praise during class, but is also very loving and encouraging. Her twice a year dance performances at Meydenbauer Center are very well choreographed and professional. The costumes are beautiful, elegant and tasteful. The performers look fantastic, yet age appropriate, and get wonderful stage experience to build performance confidence naturally. We will continue to be part of this studio as long as possible, and in the new year I will start taking adult ballet as well. I'm excited to start. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STUDIO!

I went to my first class a few weeks ago and this was the first fitness class that I thought about walking out before it ended. Don't get me wrong, the studio is awesome and has a nice vibe - the staff is super friendly as well. But this didn't feel like dancing...it was more like...how would I describe it... choreographed fitness steps for suburban housewives with no rhythm. Ah, there we go. Instructions were super fast and hard to follow, the music didn't match the vibe of the dance.... ie: attempting to dance hip hop style to a Jackson 5 song. (I use the term hip hop style loosely because I *think* that's what they were aiming for.) I'm glad I went though..I'd been wanting to try AKT for a while but learned it was not for me. I think this could be a great place for a specific demographic, though.
