First impressions, the teacher is patient, loving, positive, uses three languages (French, Russian and English) and gives the class time to get their yah yah's out. From beginning to end, the emphasis on stretching and preparation worked with the rest of a wonderfully basic, clear and inspiring lesson. Whether or not my daughter falls in love with ballet, this is a great studio and curriculum.

We joined this school in 2018 after trying several other studios, which all got a thumbs down from my discerning daughter, who was very clear that she didn't want to participate in dance recitals with little girls in too much makeup and explosions of glitter, bows, and over-bedazzled costumes (just not her cup of tea). She wanted a serious, yet fun studio, and KKSD is it. From day one this has been my daughter's happy place. She has made great dance friends, and has felt well supported in her passion for learning many types of dance. The families here are wonderful. Miss Karina is a serious instructor, who doesn't over-praise during class, but is also very loving and encouraging. Her twice a year dance performances at Meydenbauer Center are very well choreographed and professional. The costumes are beautiful, elegant and tasteful. The performers look fantastic, yet age appropriate, and get wonderful stage experience to build performance confidence naturally. We will continue to be part of this studio as long as possible, and in the new year I will start taking adult ballet as well. I'm excited to start. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STUDIO!

Their instructors are very knowledgeable about different dance genres and their history. The facilities are clean and well-organized, and both locations have designated parking spots. The only downside is that it can get quite hot during classes, especially when we're moving quickly and there are many people. It would be even better if the windows were open or if there were fans to help circulate the air in addition to the AC. Overall, the instructors and classes are great--I can't wait to come back for more!

The waiting room is always clean and the staff periodically cleans the floors and bathrooms. They really do a good job at keeping things clean and orderly here for the students and parents. They do screen out the windows to the practice rooms, so it's difficult to see inside so the students have some privacy when learning their choreography, which I know my son finds comforting. He's more on the shy side and he gets self-conscious when we watch him practicing or learning the choreography. I feel like here, they bring out the confidence in him. Even though he's a little ashamed to show us his dance routine sometimes, he really enjoys dancing and never wants to miss a class. We even had to adjust his Taekwondo schedule so he can make it to dance class. I definitely recommend Eastside dance for kids and adults who want to learn to dance. If I have time, maybe I'll give it a go. Update: Our friend's son wanted to try hip-hop and he tried out the kid's class. He really enjoyed it! He said he definitely wants to sign up for the class and he's joining the Eastside Dance Family! YAY!

This past year during the pandemic, Beth and her staff accommodated each student's needs. Many students danced with masks and other precautions in the studio, while classes were also available virtually for families that preferred that. My daughter was in virtual classes and really enjoyed them. The teachers made a point to include the students at home, while also providing instruction in the classroom. The virtual students joined classes at the end of the year and were able to take part in an outdoor recital, it was a wonderful show. My daughter started in this studio at age three, and just completed her final year as a senior. RSDS is a great place to dance.

The most important piece for me was finding a studio that offered something beyond beginner tap and a studio that is certified by Dance Master of America-RSDS fit that criteria. The studio rooms are quite spacious and have viewing windows so others can view from the outside throughout the year without being distracting. There is plenty of parking outside and there is an office area where you can pay your tuition or purchase items in their dancer shop. My class was great. Many of my classmates had been dancing together for years and welcomed me with open arms. My instructor was Beth, the owner, she is a wonderful teacher and is really focused on helping dancers with their technique. This studio is a positive space that encourages dancers to learn and grow. I was fortunate to watch the recital (and also participate) and I was blown away by the talent of the dancers and choreographers.
