Jewel had great energy and was an excellent instructor. I had a lot of fun freestyling for two full songs, with a short break in between. Everyone there was friendly and had great vibes. Parking was convenient, thanks to the available parking lot.

I dance bachata, salsa, meringue, cumbia and tango. i wanted to meet people so I joined as a single person for a group of lessons. while dancing with a member he grabbed me roughly and shoved me into "place" where he thougut i should be positioned for the song, then yanked me again very roughly. when I approached the teacher about this behavior she completely and totally ignored my concern about THE ASSAULT I EXPERIENCED and she said I need to move to the beginner area IMMEDIATELY in the middle of class! it was humiliating. before this she was giving me so many minor corrections and no one else. she also did not enforce partner rotation which leads to better learning. I sat in my car and cried for 20 minutes before I could safely drive home. i have not been to any studios since this traumatic event. i was the only plus size in the group.

Reinier has great energy (even on Zoom) and the lesson was very easy to follow and good exercise (I didn't expect to sweat at home!). Reinier is a handsome cuban man with good rhythm. He chose fun and upbeat music, too. The many dance moves we learned were very practical (I recognize them from casual salsa nights I've attended in the past - without any lessons). I liked how he went over each move and we practiced at just the right pace -- not too fast or too slow, too challenging or too boring. Even though I had missed the first salsa class, Reinier did a recap at the beginning and it was easy for me to jump right in! I feel like I learned more in this one class than all the casual salsa nights (which usually start with a free lesson) that I've attended before. I'm very excited about attending the next class. Their instructors are very knowledgeable about different dance genres and their history. The facilities are clean and well-organized, and both locations have designated parking spots. The only downside is that it can get quite hot during classes, especially when we're moving quickly and there are many people. It would be even better if the windows were open or if there were fans to help circulate the air in addition to the AC. Overall, the instructors and classes are great--I can't wait to come back for more!

They bring in great musicians to play on Friday nights, the floor is usually crowded, they have a wonderful volunteer system, and the people who run it are some of the nicest people I know. Ben is very enthusiastic and cares a lot about his community. The location for fridays (have not been to Tuesdays) is pretty nice. From what I hear, their lessons are also a lot of fun. From what I've seen, the teachers are dedicated and passionate about teaching their students. You can't ask for a better swing venue in the area.

I love to support the local dance community, but I can't support bad business practice. I've been a Lindy Hopper for over 10 years and took a couple 1-day tap clinics that challenged me and sparked an interest in tap. When I saw Eastside Stomp was offering a Tap for Lindy Hoppers 3 month course for $150, I jumped on it! The class description sold the class with a wonderful description but did state no refunds. That's fair and I had no problem committing if we're learning. First class was like a tap class for children! We drilled a simple 8-count to death. Second class was worse. I had to ask Amy for more details (weight distribution, etc) since it she didn't explain basics unless asked. Horrible! I've taken enough classes to know a good teacher. Class did not deliver as promised, so I emailed Ben promptly to get a refund. He agreed, which was awesome of him. Problem is, I haven't seen the refund check (it's been over 6 months!). I've called, emailed several times, and even reminded him in person with no results. Poor business practice!! Even if they can't give a refund, a class credit would have been appreciated. But this is BS. I'm not rich enough to throw away $150! Recommendation: if you're looking for Lindy Hop classes, go to Chris Chapman of HepCat Swing in Capitol Hill. He'll take care of you! If they offer another no-refund class, I would suggest asking to audit the first class to see if you like the instructor/material before you commit the funds. *** Update on October 2014: Finally tried reaching Ben on Facebook and got a quick response (after no response via email). Planned for a surprise pole dance class for our bride to be and everyone had an extremely awesome time. Marisa does not ever come across as a judgy person and you feel comfortable with everything, though you may not know the moves at all! She made us feel beautiful and we had such a great time with bruises to commemorate this awesome session! I am not sure if it is because we had a small private party that it was not the studio as pictured. We were at Marisa's place which she converted an area to be a private studio with 4 poles. Though small, it was intimate and a great atmosphere - not to mention super reasonable pricing! The small routine she taught was sensual and challenging enough where you want to try it over and over again! The best part was she allowed us to bring/drink some liquid courage, which is super nice and accommodating considering we were here for a bachelorette party! Marisa and Jasmine are encouraging of women of all capabilities. In addition to dancing, they invite guest instructors to teach new classes (most recently hula hoop!) and host workshops. They also recently added Zumba to the weeknight lineup. The studio is brand new and conveniently located in Woodinville just two minutes off hwy 522. It's on the second floor of a commercial complex with ample parking. The dance space has lots of natural light and mirrors, but is sufficiently private to get your groove on. Came here for the first time this evening for a kpop dance class. The facility was very beautiful…read moreand new. They had a lobby with some merchs and 3 dance rooms. The instructor for this kpop dance class, Emily, was amazing and fun to learn from! She spoke both Mandarin and English and was able to teach in either languages. The class was super fun and we had a great time. The only room for improvement was that I wished they had cubbies for storing our belongings. We had to put our jackets and purses on the floor. The 3 rooms were right next to each other, and we could hear music from other rooms during the class. But it was not a big deal to me as I was enjoying the class. Restrooms were shared with the building; no code needed. Parking was easy as the studio was in a plaza, and there was a parking lot. There were also restaurants in the same plaza that we could go to after the class.
