If, on the other hand, you are a wimp and you think Pilates is hard and you faked having your period all throughout high school PE, this approach to fitness may not be for you. Yes, I too, have heard the inspirational stories of overweight housewives and 75 year old men who just had an open heart surgery, who walked into CrossFit and it changed their life. Good for them. Keep in mind that they're an exception, not a rule. CrossFit kicks serious ass. If you enjoy pain, feelings of inadequacy and can live with both, and you also thrive on personal failure, then by all means keep at it. I wouldn't discourage people who like that kind of thing. It just wasn't for me. I tried CrossFit for about three weeks. I went three or four times a week and every day told myself that it will get better and then I would tell people about the workout and they would respond with "are you crazy?" Which in general made me feel better, because I was reminded that not everyone thrives on pushing their body to absolute limits. Personally, I did not enjoy it. It made me cry. My body, I realized, prefers a nice step aerobics class, maybe a spin class, but mostly elliptical for about 30 minutes, while reading a magazine. But yeah, this place might work magic for some. The trainers here are real professionals and you'll definitely get more than enough personal attention, if, and only if, you can survive... A month.

In 2004, my life took a different turn as I was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the US Army. Details I love: the bathrooms are spacious and single-use only, which is a relief. As someone who positively hates using a cubicle with huge gaps at the door hinge, this is great. They have little lockers to store your belongings, and also a coat rack. The designers of this place clearly put a lot of thought into planning it!
