We had friends in town visiting from Chicago and they chose Argosy for the vegan options. We arrived at around 8:30PM on a Friday night and the restaurant was pretty busy with patrons dining inside and out. We were seated promptly upstairs overlooking the main dining room and bar area. Our waitress greeted us warmly and took our drink orders. We had several questions about the menu and she answered them all with a smile. Our order was as followed: impossible burger with fries, vegan pizza (Escobar), Curry Goat and Meat Loaf. The impossible burger & pizza received rave reviews but the meat loaf & curry goat both were hmm different from what we expected. I would not order the curry goat again as it lacked that authentic Caribbean flavor and the meat loaf was not prepared southern style. Overall our dining experience was just okay due to a couple of the menu selections. The sweet potato martini had rave reviews but the serving glass is small, like just bigger than a sample size. I will be back to try some other menu items because the ambience and decor gave you NYC industrial meat packing district which was cool. read more

Although this is not a pizzeria, it hands down has some of the best pizza in Atlanta! The restaurant is large dummy lit space with a number of high top tables near the bar and then booths and couches covering the rest. There also is an extra room in the back where they sometimes have a Dj. Argosy is great for large parties, happy hour, and late night eats. There is a parking lot in the back and also street parking is available On my last visit I ordered the Boss Hog pizza, which I love! (Pictured) all pizzas are cooking in a wood fire grill which gives all of the toppings the perfect amount of crunch I decided to give 3 stars, strictly because the service was trash. Honestly it's pretty hit or miss whenever I go but this last time just especially rubbed me the wrong way. The male server we had was just rude and snappy and honestly getting on my nerves. I dined here on a friday night with a friend. We sat on the outdoor patio and it was great. The service was good & the waitress was very friendly. I ordered a glass of red wine, which was not that great. Maybe I just got a bad bottle or glass but it was probably one of the worst glasses of wine i've had in a long time. Literally my current favorite brunch spot! I bring everyone here for our first brunch together and no one has ever been disappointed. It's in the cute little East Atlanta Village so the design is, of course, amazing. The restaurant his nice, old-world, eclectic charm. I always order the pancakes and chicken for brunch and will probably never stop but friends have gotten the breakfast burger and salmon bagel and have basically licked their plates. When you're done eating, walk around the cute city you're in. The restaurant is surrounded by adorable shops you won't find anywhere else. Plus there's gorgeous murals all around you. This restaurant is a gem. It blends a traditional menu with masterful flavors. I had Mama's Meatloaf with collard greens - perfection. Others at my table at hamburgers and pizza that looked mouthwatering to me, but I was immensely satisfied with my dish. This place is amazing simply amazing. Once you walk in you really don't have a idea of what to expect it's sort of a hipster classy type style place where you can have a romantic dinner and have guys night out all under one roof. The bar is my favorite, it look like it's a mile long, full bar which is always a good thing and they have craft beer which is my favorite. They have a brick oven where they make some of the best pizza on the East side of Atlanta during late nights. I'm not sure how many times I've passed by this place not knowing how great it was. This was a stop requested as a part of birthday celebrating. So many things were revealed. This is a pretty big establishment with a huge bar & great mostly wood decor! The inside almost reminded me of a modern lodge. We sat on the patio and had drinks. We started with the Mongarita (their version of a margarita). Delicious & strong - just the way I like them! By the way, our server was really sweet and very attentive. The next set of drinks we had were again, pretty strong. My bf's 2nd drink was a long island iced tea that was superhero strong. Seriously! I sipped it and felt buzzed. Needless to say, I was the one that drove us home. My 2nd drink was the Pink Susie. Not as girly a drink as it may sound and very good. Other than strong drinks, I love the setup of this place. So I have a new favorite spot. This place is exactly my kinda spot. It offers a little bit of everything but for me it really seals the deal with these few things: Beer list: it is one of the most expansive and impressive beer lists I've seen in Atlanta. Its not just a numbers game either, it's got some limited release stuff and some really kick-ass breweries like Mikkeller. Food: a lot of places in Atlanta have not figured out their foods value and the price point to sit at. This place has. It is very good food and it won't necessarily break the bank. Ambiance: With such a huge space and a nautical theme this could have gone wrong in so many ways to, however I'm delighted to say it does not. I would say this is the worst bartender at Argosy. She made sure she took care of patrons like her but did not wait on anyone else during EAV strut. There is an order EVERYONE in service abodes and she discriminated again not anyone she deemed she wanted to wait. She told a patron beside me if you don't like it get out of the bar, very unprofessional. I took a video of her attitude. Btw they had a junior bartender appease us but then never served us after. Complained to manager at door and said he would talk to her. Not a very inclusive restaurant or bar to me with that attitude. Argosy! I saw that my Yelp! buddy Trevor W. mention how good this place was, so I mentioned it & guess what? I was surprised & taken here that night! I have a pretty special guy in my life that takes care of me. I was uber duber excited! The parking lot is a bit hectic during peak hours, so we parked next door in the hair salon parking lot, amongst other East Atlanta Village patrons. Nice, short walk to the restaurant. First, there's plenty of parking seating in the restaurant. There are a few outside, shaded tables. Upon the restaurant's entrance there are high top tables to the left. To your right there are some leather sofas where you can be seated. These tables are located near some games (scrabble, jenga, etc). You can have your food/drinks delivered to you while playing board games with your friends. I love this concept. This changes the dynamics of the restaurant. Now, it becomes a mini lounge/restaurant. There are also tables by the woodfire grill where the pizza is made. More tables are escalating up the restaurant. Food: when you look at the pictures on Yelp! you see a bunch of Plancha burgers. You know what I ordered, right? ha... simply delicious! There are no substitutions or modifications to this burger since this is their signature burger. It doesn't need anything added, though. I paired the burger with their collard greens. I had never tasted collard greens with a hint of sweetness until I had them here. Outside of my family, these may have been the best greens I've ever had!!! Drinks: There is a 1 page food menu. The drinks, though? 5 or 6 pages of beers. All kinds you could imagine. The last page, I believe, are cocktails. First visit here last Friday night. Super cool place and jam-packed that night. The noise level inside was almost deafening. Luckily, they had a few tables outside on their patio. Had their Plancha burger w/fries. The burger was good, but overall lacked a lot of flavor for me as it was a simple burger with only caramelized onions, pickles, and cheese. Once I added some Yum sauce to the burger that I had for a dipping sauce for the fries, the burger came alive. Huge beer selection with apx 20 drafts and endless bottles. Spirits and wine also available. This was a heavily trafficked place and you really feel that fact when you sit out on the patio, it was quite distracting. More distracting was the fact that the large front door does not close on its own and most people left it open. Would love to come back sometime on a less busy night. So I visited Argosy because it was part of a bachelorette party itinerary. At first I was concerned about them accommodating our large party but that was no problem, as they gave us the entire second floor to sit on. We noshed on some delicious appetizers while the restaurant patrons glady participated along in our party shenanigans. I had the Plancha burger, which people have likened to be similar to the H&F burger. While good and kind of close, it's not the same. But it was a good burger. I also tried the asiago mac and cheese and the sweet potato chips that are made in house. They were very delish! I'm going to assume it wasn't known in advance that this place isn't your typical bar-they are more about their beer than the other liquor so don't come here thinking you can get a girly frou-frou drink (one of my friends asked for an apple martini and got her feelings hurt lol). Apps: We tried the special, Mandu - a delicious pair of dumplings, served with kimchi. It came with soy sauce...which was an unnecessary addition. It was delicious, but $12 was a bit much. Main: This is one of a few places that serves the Impossible Burger, an entirely plant based burger. Disclaimer: I am not nor have I ever been a vegetarian or vegan...never even considered it. I don't generally eat veggie burgers either. Anyway, the burger was delicious. It tasted like a fatty delicious hamburger. Two caveats: 1) The burger was a bit softer than the meat burger. 2) American cheese? No thank you...I prefer "real" cheese. Note: the fries have a choice of dipping sauce. They didn't mention that this costs extra. Also, not worth it. They need to up the game on the flavors here. I tried the stout honey mustard. It tasted like horseradish. No honey, no stout, just whole seed mustard. My husband got curry ketchup. They literally must have mixed a tiny amount of curry spice into ketchup. Drinks: A great beer menu. We visited Argosy late night on Wednesday, June 6 at about 11:15pm for a party of two. We tried to find a place that still served dinner; however, it appeared a little difficult after we made several stops nearby at other places without success. We arrived here and were promptly seated. The decor of this venue is simply stated but beautiful. There were several seating areas that would be great for casual conversations with groups of maybe 4 to 6 friends. This would be a great place for many different occasions. Tonight, we learned that they also close the kitchen at 11pm on weeknights; however, they do serve pizza past 11pm, as that is done separately from the regular kitchen. We decided to order the Boss Hogg Pizza in addition to our drinks. These are not personal size pizzas....these are large pizzas good enough for 2 or 3. Tonight it was 2, because we were really hungry after a long flight. Our server was efficient; however, very quiet and hard to understand in the somewhat loud environment. There is a nice patio outside, spacious and clean. The decor inside is modeled after a ship, with wood paneling old paintings everywhere. Quiet without sounding like a morgue. The bar itself runs along one side of the restaurant, with eclectic pieces sporadically decorating its wall. The wine selection was extensive without being exhausting, and the food menu was short and sweet while still having variety. I myself and a vegetarian, so a lot of restaurants leave me with the option of eating grass as my entree. Not here. They have a good amount of vegetarian/GF picks. We had 2 glasses each of Sauvignon Blanc, I cant remember the brand. The spicy popcorn was a cute little starter. For our entree we shared the ESCOBAR PIZZA. What piqued my interest was the vegan chorizo that came on it. I asked our tender to give me the skinny on it, and he was honest and detailed. It was delicious. Back to our service: Our bartender was awesome! Attentive but not up our butts. He offered refills at the perfect time and was very knowledgeable to the questions we asked. While I cannot remember his name, I do clearly remember him saying that he was apart of the opening crew, (circa 2012/13) He even had a shirt displaying so that was modeled after the ATL 96 Olympic Games. I came back here during the evening and got a total different vibe from this spot! On a Saturday early afternoon, it's more family and kid oriented. At night it is more grown and sexy. Also had a chance to try the pizza, which was delicious! You can watch the pizza guy make it in a brick oven. Argosy also boasts one of the best bars I've ever seen in Atlanta. First, I just want to say that I'm not one of those people who you'd respond "yeah that makes sense" if you were told they wrote a 14 paragraph review of a restaurant just because they felt their food was disappointing. Personally I feel like finding out someone leaves restaurant reviews is like finding out someone only works out to the Hamilton soundtrack. And yes, I understand good reviews are pretty essential to the success of a local restaurant so someone's gotta write em. And leaving a bad review because a spot genuinely disrespects you completely unprompted or was racist towards you is also totally justified. I almost was able to forget about this meal. After years of suppressing unpleasant memories you'd think forgetting one bad meal would be easy. I tried so hard. And I almost successfully walked myself down from the ledge of wasting time I will never get back writing a review... and then I read eater's 38 essential restaurants around atlanta, winter 2023. Seeing Argosy listed filled me with seething anger. That's probably unreasonable and also probably says more about me than it does about Argosy, but I guess I feel justified writing this because of just how depressing this experience was. I also want to say that I have an appropriate enough knowledge of food and cooking and cooking in restaurants to describe our food accurately. And I also think I'm thoughtful enough not to exaggerate just for the sake of throwing shade. I've had a lot of apathetic meals out there, but I've never been driven to write a review by one of them you know. Anyway.. The service was solid. Had two servers, both were nice, both recommended things that should've been good. They have a bunch of beers on tap if that's what you're into. The restaurant itself is a cool and unique space. That's not what the review's about but it does matter so I will say if you're just going for a beer or whatever it's fine, whatever, who cares. But this is a restaurant that eater considers essential to Atlanta and I assume at least some people read eater. I was there on a Saturday night around 9, it wasn't weeded, I didn't order anything weird or ask to make any stupid substitutions. If you're a good restaurant this is the sweet spot right? Anyway after drinks I asked my server if the wings were good, said I wasn't picky. He redirected me to the killer tofu. Said it was good. Word, I like tofu. Salt was more absent in this dish than my alcoholic mom at my childhood tennis matches. The tofu spent enough time frying like your crypto bro friend spent enough time in the womb. A little longer and things might not have been so bad. The whole mess sat in this pool of chili oil and.... well just chili oil. So much chili oil? Woulda grabbed the bill and left at this point had I not put in the mains before the app got to the table. New server recommended we get the plancha burger and the brussels sprouts salad. The burger itself was alright but really it was because it was the first piece of food that didn't illicit the feeling of "this is now the worst thing so far." The fries sucked in the ways that all fries that suck do. You've had bad fries. You know what I'm talking about. The brussels sprouts salad was offensive. When it got to the table I had to wait till someone passed to ask if what was on the table was the brussels sprouts salad. It's one of those dishes that should probably look like its name? If you couldn't tell, there were no brussels sprouts in the brussels sprouts salad. Actually, there was a worse number of brussels sprouts in there. One. One halved brussels sprout. There were many other bad things about this dish but none worse than that. Letting this rant sit unposted for two days has convinced me of two things. The first is that I will not stop thinking about this sad meal at least until I post my review. I need to get this off my chest and I absolutely refuse to dump my rant on one of my friends who does't care. So someone who's looking for an honest take on the food at a restaurant they're considering going to should have the chance to read this instead. The second is that I could've gone harder on the food. What I really hate is when restaurants just phone it in. Its one thing to shoot and miss... but Argosy's just not shootin man. So there ya go, 0/5 stars. And if this was an off night or I ordered wrong (exclusively at the direction of the restaurants own servers), I just think there are so many spots here whose food tastes like they care. Probably my favorite place in east Atlanta, with large windows and ample menu options, it's the perfect eatery for a fun day or night out. We've had their brunch and now their dinner. Both were great experiences. They don't have a reservation system but due to its huge space, there's always a table available. Of course if you wanna sit at the window there could be slight wait. Though their covered patio is very cool as well. As for the servers, they are friendly and efficient. Coming to their food, scrumptious and some outstanding. We ordered the Hot Chicken sandwich; finger licking good. It comes with fries and we ordered the curry ketchup, the perfect combo. The sandwich isn't hot from any angle, it just has a somewhat kick but it's done by the combination of flavors, not just by spiciness. The roasted chicken was ok (nothing extraordinary) the breast portion could have used a bit more flavoring. But the carrots it comes with were amazing. Lastly we had the Plancha burger. We requested for single stack, and felt it was adequate for us. If you are very hungry then I'll go with the regular size. The patty was fully cooked yet juicy. My date and I went to this location and was very disappointed about this place. We always checked Google to make sure there are health and safety policies before going anywhere to eat. Google stated this location required customers and staff to wear a mask. We went there today right at 5pm and dined on the porch. Mixed reviews about this place. The spot itself is fun to hang out at, great big backroom with different games & a bar. The area it is in is very sketchy, we did not feel comfortable parking in that area & leaving our car, did not seem safe. There were people lurking around in groups of 2-3 & some walked slowly behind cars as cars were trying to find parking, with hoods pulled up & faces hidden. Not sure if that's what people do in that area but it is a bit sketchy. The food was ok in my opinion, and food is something important on a night of drinking. We sat outside which was cool until this chick came with a German Shepherd. Hair flying all over the place and he was a bit active. His tail kept hitting my friend, when he said something it went down hill from there. Chick got upset and took her dog to the car and the energy was horrible for the rest of our experience. An easy 5/5. Great atmosphere, great service, great food. We sat on the patio and had a fabulous time. I was craving pizza and Argosy more than satisfied that. We started with the popcorn--a great twist to regular popcorn. It tasted like a perfect kettle corn, but with spices. We also got boiled peanuts, which I had never had before, but they were also great. We ordered two pizzas: Butcher's Block and The Penelope. They didn't come out at the same time, which was fine but just something to be aware of if you're in a group. The pizza was perfect--the crust, cheese, toppings. Another thing to be aware of is if you're picky and like to modify your order at restaurants, this place is not for you. They don't accept substitutions on most things and kindly request that you don't ask. Not a big deal, just order off the menu; it was created that way for a reason. Great ambiance, excellent service, delicious food! Really enjoyed the spicy popcorn, Mac and cheese, fries with dips (yum sauce, argosy bbq), mutiny of the bounty pizza, salted caramel blondie (so good!!), and fried apple pie. Will definitely be back! read more

Good spot! Menu was little more creative than typical burger bar restaurant. Vegan options are a plus for our family! Hits were the burger and pizza. My meal was not so great. Chicken was over cooked and tough and the side that came with it were not edible. The sauce was too much for my taste. Service was good and attentive. read more
