For all the times I've been on Moreland and in East Atlanta, I can't believe I didn't know Argosy was tucked away over here. Such a cute spot--and an overall great time. Our server, Trey, was awesome. He was attentive, friendly, and really helped make the experience smooth from start to finish. One thing I loved about Argosy is the ambiance. It can go either way--you can keep it super casual or dress it up a bit for a night out. I also noticed they have karaoke on certain nights, which I definitely plan on coming back for. We started with cocktails and ordered the Rosé Cadillac (I took a picture of the menu for details), and it was really good. As a self-proclaimed lightweight, I appreciated that it was enjoyable without being too overwhelming. For food, we split a wood-fired pizza--the "Boss Hogg"--and each got a six-piece order of lemon pepper wings. The wings were okay, but the pizza? Absolutely slammin. Looking back, I definitely should've taken some home. Overall, Argosy feels like one of those spots that works for any occasion--date night, casual hangout, or group outing. So let me start by saying my first time here and I liked the pork chop and brussels sprouts nicely seasoned and cooked. I honestly was not a fan of the tofu and eggplant dish that I had. I believe it was the seasoning that was used that I was not particularly a fan of, but it was nice and beautifully plated. I also had a spicy margarita that was delicious but yet spicy I recommend the vibes and atmosphere. It's beautiful and slowly lit inside. The service was OK, but our waitress wasn't as attentive as I would've liked. She rarely came to check on us and it seems she was more ready for us to leave. What's not to like about Argosy? Ambiance is a bit dark but we were going to a cabaret afterwards and wanted something warmer and darker. It's a big restaurant with multiple levels and a heated patio. Service was fantastic. Recommendations were spot on and the server was knowledgeable and friendly. Food was excellent. My wife got their killer tofu and the feta plate and loved them both. I tried the tofu and it was really good. On the recommendation of the server, I got the red snapper special. This is how all fish should be cooked. It honestly couldn't have been better. I also got a side of fries with curry ketchup because I'm fat and shut up. Soooo good. This place was recommended by a local and it did not disappoint. They have a great beer selection with something for everyone. I had a key lime pie sour that was awesome. The wings were great although theu could have used a little more siuce for my liking. The pizza was pretty legit. I got the Boss Hogg and really enjoyed it. I like goat cheese in moderation and was a little worried it might overpower the other flavors on the pizza but they used just the right amount so it gave just the right amount of creaminess without getting too funky. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times since I gathered my notes/pics and actually submitted this review. As we pulled up closer to the restaurant, I was figuring out the parking situation when I noticed they actually have a midsize lot reserved just for restaurant guests--free of charge We walked in, passing by the patio, and were warmly greeted at the entrance. We let them know we were a party of two hoping to sit outside, and they quickly accommodated us. We were handed a couple of menus and started to review all our options. The beer list was serious--super extensive. I needed a few minutes to make a decision. Wifey asked for a Blue Moon, but unfortunately, they didn't have it. While we kept reviewing the menu, our server did mention a special appetizer: pork empanadas. We were intrigued and decided to give them a shot. There were a bunch of hazy IPAs on the list, and the server was great about bringing out a few tasters to help me make a final decision. I ended up going with the New Lord from Magnanimous Brewery, which hit the spot. I also asked about the Nashville hot chicken sandwich--wanted to know how spicy it really was. The server let me know it wasn't too hot, but they could put the sauce on the side, which worked perfectly for me. Wifey went with a combo of southern inspired sides: collard greens and mac & cheese. The greens even came with a cornbread muffin, which was a cool bonus. Our empanadas arrived first--crispy, flavorful, this turned out to be a great recommendation from our server. Not long after, the rest of the food followed. My chicken sandwich had an amazing crunch, and while the hot sauce on the side wasn't particularly spicy, the flavor was solid. The sandwich came with a nice small side salad. Wifey enjoyed her Southern-inspired sides but did mention the collard greens were a bit on the salty side. I asked for a couple more beer samples to decide on round two and ended up going with another New Lord Hazy IPA. As we sat there, we noticed the place was buzzing with activity--it's clearly a popular spot. All in all, we really enjoyed our first visit. Great vibes, solid food, and awesome service. I went to Argosy this evening to try to have a nice experience. Got there about 630. Surly bartender with pigtails didn't even look at me. Another guy got me water. And a glass of rose. I finally ask surly one if she took food orders. I ordered a pizza. When it came out i had not plate no silver no nothing. I used to love this place but i will not be back. I went to Argosy for a late night bite to eat after most other restaurants in the area were closed. The guy at the host stand was friendly and helpful but, sadly he was the only one. It wasn't very busy (three or four tables plus 3/4 of the bar seats). There were four people behind the bar, but it took forever to get someone to even acknowledge me. Service was lackadaisical and while they weren't rude, the servers didn't actually seem interested in doing their jobs. They spent more time talking to each other than acknowledging the guests at the bar. My guess is that they forgot about my food because when it finally arrived, it was lukewarm. But it had taken so long to get to me that I decided to just eat it instead of asking for it to be remade. The food itself was mediocre and not very remarkable. It was definitely lacking salt and, as mentioned, it was cold. Even the sauce (that I paid extra for) was bland. It's been a while since I had eaten at Argosy. Argosy was introduced to me as a real cozy tavern like spot to get some good food and drinks and I think there's some truth to that. Service here is kinda strange. My two buddies and I were seated very isolated from the rest of the patrons and our waitress didn't even introduce herself to us--I literally had to ask what her name was. On top of that, she just straight up seemed like she didn't want to be there. We ended up moving to a different location because we were so siloed so we ended up with a different waitress and it was the same story! Hardly interested in us for some reason. I tried smiling at the staff whenever I'd walk past and never got a smile in return. The beer here is fine, if not flat as seen in the pics I posted. The Argosy is a a staple in EAV. I have both dined here as well as sat at the bar for drinks, and every time I have a good experience. The latest trip to the Argosy consisted of sitting at the bar (which is awesome by the way), and ordering a couple beers and a pre-dinner "snack". Since we had reservations a little later, we decided on the popcorn. It's salty, sweet and lots of umami that keep you reaching for more. Allow me to set the mood! It's Hoopz last night in Atlanta before moving back to Seattle. As such, I wanted something close to his area, good, and that I had never tied before. Naturally I end up on Yelp performing a search and Boom! I stumbled across Argosy. Though I have been in this area numerous times, I have never noticed Argosy. However, tonight was the night... I was excited as the restaurant has its own private lot. Woo Hoo! Anyone who knows the area can't attest that parking is not the best when it comes to available spaces. Once parked, we headed inside. Argosy is humongous. I'm talking super big covered patio area in the front, when you walk through that space to get to the main area, the inside is HUGE as well. The setup has your organic local bar feel and is musically vibrant and upbeat. Upon walking in we were seated within moments. The table setup makes good use of the space as you don't feel crowded at all. We were a party of 2 and the tables next to us were a party of 10 and we both had ample space. As I looked over the menu, this is the traditional bar food menu with the Argosy twist. This makes for a limited selection to choose from, however, there is at least one traditional favorite of each food element in the menu. Our server arrived at the table within moments, welcomed us to the venue and took our drink orders. She was very pleasant and displayed a joyous smile. After a few moments of burger vs. fries, I decided to get the Wings and Fries and babeeeeeeeeeee. These wings were amazing. The wings come in a sauce I have never had before, and now that I have had it, I want to continue having it. It's like a Buffalo style sauce not too spicy, with an Argosy taste twist to them. As far as the French fries... Hear me clearly. The art of a Homemade fry is not something everyone can execute well. However, Argosy has discovered the ART of fry making. The fries are crunchy on the outside, however, soft and fluffy on the inside. Furthermore, the fries are lightly salted which brings out the authentic taste of the potato. To make it even better, the fries aren't too oily or overly greasy. Though I loved my wings, the French fries stole the night!! All in all, I will be back at Argosy soon as I MUST try the burger next. read more

I came here with a friend for the steak and gin martini Tuesday special. We opted to sit on the patio which was spacious and cutely decorated! The patio faces Flat Shoals so it's a fun spot for people watching as well. They have ceiling fans to help keep it cool - we went on a hot evening but it still felt nice out there. The inside is your typical brewpub-type industrial wood look, I love it. It's very spacious and the bar is a nice focal point. Service was nice but a little slow in comparison to capacity. I ordered the steak frites Tuesday special, I enjoyed that they offered different accompaniments to the steak - I went for the chimichurri! I ordered my steak medium rare and felt it was cooked perfectly. My friend ordered burger. I also got a side of homemade blue cheese that was tangy but sweet, really yummy. While I liked my food, I will say that everything was SO salty. I loooove salt. But the amount of salt on the fries, in the chimichurri, and even on my friends burger was a little much. Came here for dinner with two friends. Very cool vibes inside. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. It was very good! Delicious flavors throughout. I was able to have either fries or a salad as my side. I went with fries because on vacation calories don't matter. Fries were delish as well. They have house sauces for $0.50. I had the yumyum sauce and garlic parm. Both accompanied the fries great. It was a wonderful marriage of flavors. My friends ordered the plancha burger and the impossible plancha burger with a salad as their side. They both enjoyed their meal. We also ordered some beer and a cocktail. Service was great. This visit was my second time to Argosy and it didn't disappoint. My visit was late one Sunday night in which I was able to experience Argosy's delicious pizza menu. My most recent visit was due to Mother's Best pop up at the restaurant on this particular Tuesday; interested in trying the oysters and gumbo. Now, I'll pause here to state that I am from Louisiana and can be a tough critic of gumbo. Though this one was the best ( 6/10)- I gave extra credit and points for : color, texture and, the fact that they offered potato salad on the side. Anyone from South Louisiana knows that potato salad goes with gumbo but, I'll save that debate for another time. Getting back to the review - I also ordered the fish sticks and tried an oyster or two. The fish sticks were served with tartar sauce but, there was a lemon and caper topping and some type of slaw mixture at the bottom - I give the dish a 7/10. If it is crowded you will get seated on a couch and eat your food off of a coffee table which is a little annoying but you can always wait for a table to open up. My last review of Argosy got deleted. I know that businesses don't like negative reviews and I understand that but they deserve. As we came in, the hostess saw us and proceeded to let the door close in our faces. Then she made a few awkward steps before she decided to take a position at the hostess stand. Rude. Rude. Rude. Our server stopped at 2 tables next to us before attempting to turn her back on us. My BF made eye contact with her so she stopped. The other two tables already had their food (one left maybe 5 min later) so it would have made sense to stop by so why wouldn't she? My guy ordered a hot dog and I ordered the burger. The food was good. Argosy rarely disappoints in the kitchen. That the food is so solid is why I've continued to visit even though service has always been pretty trash. Order carry out. The house salad was 90% lettuce with a few cherry tomatoes and carrot shavings, and the dressing was only oil and vinegar; no seasonings at all. Looking for a late spot, this came up. Definitely a cool vibe located in a cool area of Atlanta. Parking is located to the side of the building but it is shared with other businesses so it can be limited. The inside is like a play on an old ship but there is ample sitting and staff was pretty cool and made good recommendations. My group ordered a pizza with goat cheese, a margarita style pizza and hamburgers. The pizza was decent and so were the hamburgers but I felt they were pretty traditional and nothing out of the world. Their drinks, I feel they were for a specific genre of taste buds but I felt that after a couple of sips I actually was ok with my drink. I went up there and asked people if this is where to sign up and they told me to ask the MC, a man I later learned goes by "J'oh J'oh". He told me that sign up is at the bottom but I'd "be here all night" but that he "takes bribes". I nodded, said thank you, and left. "J'oh J'oh" responded by turning on his mic and yelling to the whole venue, "What makes you think you're more special than a room full of people?" First night in Atlanta my friend took me here because the inside is a boat! Shame on me for posting a review long after I have been here so the details are a bit fuzzy, but I recall getting the meatloaf which came with a salad and mac and cheese. When ordering, I thought I got salad or a side so I got a salad, but our server was like "what about your side?" Boy was I so happy to get both. Stopped by for slow Sunday dinner. The service was quick and efficient. They have an extensive beer selection that is worth a try for its variety. Not even check-ins were allowed. My wife and I visited Argosy during this "watch" period in late September 2021 and the Yelp app wouldn't let me check in. A first for me, and I've been using Yelp extensively since 2009. I then forgot to post this review until now in 2022. A banner was placed on Argosy's Yelp page that said: "This business is being monitored by Yelp's Support team for content related to media reports." When I tried to add content, I got a pop-up message that said, "This business recently received increased public attention in the news, which often means people come to this page to post their views on the news rather than a first-hand consumer experience. As a result, we've temporarily disabled the ability to post content about this business. Read more on Yelp Support. If you're here to leave a review based on a first-hand experience with the business, please check back at a later date." Argosy made headlines in late July 2021 when they started a new policy: no COVID vaccination, no service. As a result of the news, this Yelp listing for Argosy was spammed with reviews from folks who weren't real customers. That sort of thing isn't unheard of. Anyway, my wife and I have been fans of Argosy since before we met each other. My first visit was in September 2013. We made our first visit together in September 2021, eight years after my first visit. During our visit, there were signs posted on the doors that said, "For the safety of our staff, guests, and community... No Vax, No Service." Argosy is a pillar of East Atlanta Village (EAV). This place is really popular and for good reason. In my experience, the food, drink, service, and atmosphere have been consistently great. The look and vibe of this place are some of its strongest suits to me. This is a spacious bar and restaurant / gastropub with a cool, stylish, and unique design. It feels "broken in" and "authentic." No pretense. The staff has always been nice and welcoming and I've always felt comfortable, relaxed, and happy here. One thing I really like about this place is the variety of seating options: booths up top, cozier, lounge-like couches below, and the covered, open-air patio facing Flat Shoals. The space is versatile and works well for both groups and intimate dates. Foodwise, Argosy serves elevated pub grub and wood-fired pizzas. I've been here for an event where they served an assortment of small plates and sides. Things like Wood-Fired Wings (10 jumbo wings for $14), Killer Tofu (made with kimchi, $8), Country-Fried Kale ($6), and Blistered Shishito peppers ($7). The kitchen also offers burgers, sandwiches, and, on this last visit, a local pork and beef 8-oz "Mamma's Meatloaf" ($14). When we visited this last time, there were seven pizzas on the menu, priced at $14-22 each. The pizzas are made with meats from The Spotted Trotter, a local charcuterie which is pretty awesome. There's an open pizza prep counter towards the back of the dining room where you can watch pizzas get made to order. We got the Boss Hogg ($21) and the Funghi Pie ($21). Both were excellent. The Boss Hogg was made with a red sauce, bacon, fennel sausage, goat cheese, onion, Calabrese peppers, and fresh thyme. The Funghi Pie was made with an Asiago cream sauce, local mushrooms, Sweet Grass Dairy Tomme, fresh mozzarella, and oregano. Sweet Grass Dairy is a local farm in Thomasville, Georgia. The pizzas here are delicious. Argosy's pizzas fly under the radar. I think they're some of the best in Atlanta. My wife preferred the Boss Hogg while I preferred the Funghi Pie. The pizzas were thin-crust, Neapolitan-style. I'd say one pizza is big enough for two people. My wife loved all of the flavors packed into the Boss Hogg. She described it as experiencing multiple flavors, one after another, in each bite. For example, she'd taste the savory meat then the creamy goat cheese then the yummy tomato sauce. I love mushrooms and mushroom pizza. Argosy's Funghi Pie was terrific, full of umami, and I really enjoyed the richness and mouthfeel of the Tomme cheese and cream sauce in combination. All around, these were high-quality, delectable pizzas and I highly recommend them. I had an 18.21 Ginger Beer ($4) from 18.21 Bitters (also local, based in Atlanta) and it was cold and refreshing. Really good. John R was our server and he was great. He was polite and friendly. Our orders came out quickly. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful evening weather. Argosy is located in its own freestanding building with free parking in lots on either side of the building. Street parking is free too. Be careful in the parking lots because they're uneven and have lots of potholes. For as long as I've known it, pothole-filled lots are a common thing in EAV. read more
