Came in for the Yerba Mate tea in their little mini international store. Food smelled enticing, so we sat and ordered. They let us know up-front that everything was made from scratch and there would be a wait. There was a game on the tv and clean dining area, unfortunately the seats are wooden and not very comfortable. Casual atmosphere, several family size tables, and outdoor seating. Handicap accessible dining area. Food was definitely worth the wait! The empanadas were unbelievable. Filling was ground beef, egg, tomato sauce and perfectly seasoned, with a crispy pastry that wasn't doughy inside. Wish it had a dipping sauce. The House sandwich was good, with absolutely perfect bread. My egg was well done, would have been better if it had a drippy yolk, so I made notes to ask for that next time. Fries were good, thin crispy shoestring fries that weren't over-salted (salt on table, so easy to adjust to your liking). Also ordered the pepperoni pizza, which was awesome! Love the cheese, not too much sauce, and the crust!!! Omg the perfect crispy fluffy pan crust. Overall really pleased. Definitely adding this to our regular rotation. *** My only complaint (which does NOT reflect on the cafe) was the handicap parking was blocked by construction equipment and a dumpster. I called the number for Clearfield Junction to let them know and they couldn't have been more apathetic. The woman I spoke with was pretty much "Yeah, so?" and basically said to just go to another business then if I need handicap parking. They definitely didn't care about the impact of their tenets or their customers. ***

The Kitchen

New location next to the library. Fabulous food. Awesome new space with plenty of seating. The staff is smiling and helpful with recommendations. I recommend the slow cooked beef on gnocchi, or the Milanesa sandwich. And if you like real football (soccer) it's always on the multiple tv's around the restaurant

I have to stop by this place anytime I have time when I come to Utah. Living in Argentina this place just brings back the nostalgia. Beware that the service is slow. Come here with time. We came for a late lunch. You sit down and then order. The empanadas are baked great and good flavor. The house Milanesa is always a favorite. This time was a little too much salt and oregano. My favorite is the beef tongue. Always done well.

Such a cool little spot. Simple food, made with care. Delicious. It felt like a family member was making me food.

It was ok. The owner/cook is running a one man band and you can tell he gets overwhelmed at times. Out flank steak was very overcooked.

The pork belly was the best out of the 5 appetizers that we ordered. My friend ordered an espresso martini and did not like it so she asked for it to be replaced. He took the drink and came back and said they would still have to charge us. We said if you're gonna charge for the drink, then we will take it back. He said they already threw it away. Huhhh??? So you threw away a drink we had to pay for and you can't comp it? Manager comes out and instead of de escalating the situation, he made it way worse. He said it was Utah's law and we said we're not from Utah how would we know the law. They should have told us before and it would not have been an issue. When my friend said she wanted another one, they should have said you can have another one but we would still have to charge for this one. We would have kept the drink and ordered another one for her. He started repeating himself and instead of just taking accountability, he tried to blame us and tell us to calm down and say stuff like "I don't need to calm down. This is my house." We said if this is your house, we are your guests and you are not treating us like that whatsoever. We were about to walk out but he said we need to pay the bill. Fair enough. But only for the stuff we ate and what's on the table so none of the entrees. So we asked for the tab quickly (as we are not trying to stay a minute longer) and we raised our finger to get someone's attention, AS PEOPLE NORMALLY DO, and this man goes "they are not your slave" bro what??? People normally raise their hands and wave their fingers to get servers attention. After that, we paid and left. Anyways, never come here if you want a perfect experience. Food was mid anyways.

Every dish we ordered was flavorful and beautifully presented you can tell the kitchen takes real pride in their craft starting with the bread. The ham empanadas were phenomenal, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also loved the CHURRASCO (medium rare ) highly recommend giving it a try! Last but not least...THE Chaja For desert! Wow! I wish I tempered the woman's name who helped us. She gave us all the best recommendations without telling us the most expensive place on the menu like some. We definitely will be coming back! Also, sorry we enjoyed the food so much we forgot to take pictures.

For food, the calmari frita it was called but it was squid, some kind of white fish, shrimp along with fried, thinly sliced red onion, bell pepper and jalapeño. GET THIS, one of the best things of the night! When you do get it, make sure you get bites of the chopped veggie mixture that's buried under all the fried goodness, thank me later. Main course, we got the Parillada de Buenos Aires, this is where the issues start, our waiter said we were able to sub out a couple of the items on platter as tripe and sweetbreads (the glands of a veal if you weren't aware) are not things we enjoy. So we swapped them out for a chicken milenesa and a grilled chicken breast. It also came with 1 each of the sides that were pretty basic, and honestly lacked flavor in comparison (rice, potato salad, house salad, mashed potatoes and roasted veggies). Then the meats it comes with, a half chicken, a 12 oz skirt steak, 4 short ribs, some other grilled cut of meat (menu doesn't specify what kind) and a variety of sausages. The waiter, through super nice, totally messed up the substitutions. He brought them out but from the time ordered to the time we ate was about an hour, and for the correct food to come out took even longer. The food itself was pretty good, meats had great flavor and the milenesa when it came out was hot and juicy. The meats didn't need any dipping sauce because they were that well seasoned. Dessert we had the lemon "cheesecake" which was just a lemon cake with a cream cheese type frosting, not at all what you think of with a cheesecake.

I only make empanadas for people I really like on rare occasions because empanadas take me like 5 hrs to make and gobbled up by everyone in 5 minutes. Ugh! The part I don't enjoy is making a lot of empanadas. I don't even buy pre made tapas, I make the dough literally from scratch. Takes forever and can be messy. Also hate it if I roll too thin and the empanada breaks open when trying to fold its irritating. Something to keep in mind when you want your Argentine friend to make empanadas. You must be a great friend if they make you some. Yes the empanadas sold here are more like empanaditas but it's a problem I see in pretty much any place that sells empanadas. Street tacos are small too and cost 2.50 a piece in some places. For me it was whether I wanted to make several dozen empanaditas all on my own from start to finish (no) or find someone who can help make them. I bought a few dozen empanaditas ready to bake so all the hard work is done and out of the way! When I picked up my order I also got some empanadas to go. I'm used to loading my beef empanadas with more cooked onions (empanadas mendoncinas are loaded with onion) but these ones weren't bad. Also liked the lemon beef and veggie (like a samosa), those were new. Happy they could help me with my request and finally be able to try them out!
