Vegan options available. We were looking for something with vegan options and this was the spot! I have never eaten arepa before, and i got the vegetarian with cabbage, plantains, and avocado (without the sauces). It was good but obviously would have been better with a sauce. The location was wide and open, plenty of seating. The restaurant was nicely decorated, very trendy. The staff was very welcoming, and accommodating. We were talking a road trip through, but if we ever find ourselves around this area again we will stop by again read more

First time to try Venezuelan food, and it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten!

Many friends and co-workers had told me about Arepitas and I wanted to try. We sit at the bar and Alicia took great care of us! What a nice lady! We felt at home! The restaurant is beautiful! We had tequeños, they were perfect! Also empanadas which were a little heavy in oil but may be because the place was busy, delicious anyway!!! Passion fruit juice which unlike other places it was flavorful and not diluted! Loved it!!! The best of all was the cachapa! I had a Hairy one with carne mechada!!! It was out of this world!!! Delicious! I can't wait to go to the one in Round Rock! read more

Must try! I feel like it doesn't matter what you order, you'll be hit with great flavors! We went here a couple of times while in Killeen and every different order we got, it did not disappoint. Funny thing was first time we went, we saw people get the arepas (pita looking thing) and we thought it was a small portion. Well, the second time we came back, we ordered that and couldn't even finish it cuz I was so full already! Looks are deceiving! No food suggestion, because honestly, you can't go wrong with any of your order. read more

Delicious and tasty meal. I got the bowl with rice, black beans, shredded beef, avocado, and cheese. Portion was more than I could eat. Service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

An American dream that I'm proud to see flourish. I've been a costumer of Arepitas since they were in the corner of a shell gas station in Killeen. They've now grown to 2 amazing spaces in Harker heights and Round Rock! The food is absolutely delicious and made fresh to order. So be prepared to actually sit and wait for your food but it will absolutely be worth it. The staff is amazing and the atmosphere is very welcoming. This makes my Colombian heart very happy to have near by. read more

Good food... not quite great, borderline really good food, but on the pricey side. For the price of the food I would expect a nicer ambiance. Not to say the ambiance and atmosphere is bad, by any means, but for the price of the food, I would expect a little more. A little more privacy , a little more seclusion, and a little more comfort than what you actually get. The service is typically very good, but is a little slower (as to not rush you, which can be a good thing) but would match the price of a restaurant you want to hangout in and make an evening of. Instead you get more of a: sit down, have 1 drink while you wait for you food, eat, pay, and leave kind of place. I do highly recommend trying just about everything on the menu, but prepare to pay for it. read more

I only rating the service ... i was there thursday evening horrible service we waited 20 min and i have to call the male waiter who came with an attitudes i told him no one has take our order or drinks he roll his eyes and after if i wanted to order. sadly we decide to leave wasn't feeling good with the service at all all 3 waiters were seating i don't understand why the delayed. it used to be such a good place to go eat read more

We've heard this place is good. One of my best friends is from Venezuela and she cooks as well as her family. I've had the "real deal" a lot. These were really good. Prices unclear based on yelps linked menu seemed to be inaccurate. It was pretty expensive. $14.99 for 1 shrimp arepa my husband had a beef one for $13. They were generously filled and very good flavor. The arepa itself was tough to tear or cut but soft inside. I do prefer my friend's homemade ones flavor and texture wise. They up-charge for everything here. I asked for extra sauce and they brought it but charged an extra .75 for a tiny cup of it and didn't notify me it would be extra. The Mexican Coke my husband ordered was $4. All in all, good food and a kind waiter. My kids meal was $8 for some cut up chicken breast, black beans and white rice, but was a generous portion. read more

Flavorful, fresh, clearly made from scratch and we loved it all. All we could say while eating was "mmmm oh my goodness so good"! We started with the Tequenos, and the fried yucca (wow - they taste like potatoes). So disappointed it been over two months and we eat a lot from here that the food has been a hit and miss, more of a miss than a hit. We do eat here very often a least once a week. Today topped it all. My son was not able to eat one of his empanada because it was so burn. When he told me, I was thought he was exaggerating until I came home and started to eat mine. It had this bad taste then I flipped my cachapa from the side the had all the cheese. I was now able to see where the taste was coming from. Not only was it burn in the out side but in the inside and very dried. This was our dinner today, I picked some of the inside meat and the plantain. It truly has disappointed our family. This was our default spot every times we work late (which is most week) Service has deteriorated, most definitely not what it used to be a few months ago. Most definitely taking a break. read more

Food is good however, way overpriced for what it is. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth when you have to pay for the salsa that should accompany the arepas. With that said, the arepas are pretty good. Price is off putting unless I really crave it. read more

The food was delicious. I got the steak arepita, and while delicious, there was so much meat on top that I struggled to eat it without making a mess. But that worked out for me because I had leftovers the next day. Steak was very flavorful, a bit chewy, but I eat my steak well done, so I'm used to that, lol. My husband got the pernil arepita, which was very good. I also got the yucca fries, which were good, but my favorite side was the cheese sticks. They were so melty and good with the sauce and the dough around it was really good. The plantains were not good at all to me. I've had way better. These were soggy, and the cheese on top was rubbery and squeaked in my mouth. It's okay tho, that's why you gotta try new things right. Luckily, all the other food was amazing, so I would Def come back to try the other menu options. read more

Dude. One of the workers spit their blue gum in my fiancés food. We took the leftovers home and We didn't find it until the next day when she decided to share it with her sister. This is disgusting. If I would've found it while we were in the restaurant we would've caused a huge scene over it. Caution your self when eating here and check your food. In response to the owner. This could only mean that it was in the food when it was served. Being it was left overs when it came home with us in her plate means that it was there. So no. It's not a hateful comment. You need to manage your kitchen staff. And make sure your servers are doing their job. Multiply your blessings. It was in the cheese cup from the plantains that was put on the side . read more

We were in the area and wanting to try a place we haven't been to so we came here for Venezuelan food. I noticed on Yelp this place had a previous location in a gas station, but now it's located in a strip mall by Sam's Club in Harker Heights. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. You order at the counter. They will give you a number to place on your table and the food will be brought out. There were two tables open, but had to wait for it to be cleaned. No problem. We tried the tostones, ground beef empanada and the Llanera arepa. Everything is fresh so it will take time for the food to come out. The tostones arrived first. It comes with six plantain chips and shredded cabbage, cheese and avocado on top. When the food came out she explained how to eat it. The tostones tasted fresh and they were good. The beef empanada came out next. OMG! So delicious. The white sauce it came with had good flavor and paired nicely with the flavors of the empanada. Finally the Llanera arrived. The Llanera arepa is sirloin steak, cheese and avocado. She told us to eat it like a hamburger. This was so good and full of flavor. Everything we had was good. This place definitely knows how to make some amazing food. I can see why this place stayed busy the whole time we were there. The icing on the cake to our dining experience was the fact that they stopped to ask each table how everything was and gave instructions on how to eat it. Very hospitable. Delicious flavors are served here! read more
