We've been waiting 4 months for a small hole in our soffit to be repaired.....Arrrgh!!

2nd Review 10July the roof was fixed and we paid them. They did a good job. Make sure you put a date on your contract for completion. 1st Review. On 4/25 I put a deposit against a roof repair. Its 6/29 and I am still waiting for the leak to be repaired. They did send 2 guys who had 1 bundle of shingles and put one bundle up on the wrong spot in the roof. Nevertheless, the leak is still there. Called right away and they were suppose to get back to me. Had to call again today and there suppose to get back after the holiday. I actually like the salesperson, but the roof needs to be repaired at the leak. I'll check back with you when this is done and let you know my overall opinion. I have used this company several years ago and they were great, but great wears off quick when you have a leak. read more

Small company, gigantic customer service! I got their contact information from a list of insurance estimators because the original guy ignored all of my calls/texts/emails because my townhouse was not a big job. Ron and his team accepted my insurance claim estimate, sent me a contract, took their deposit and started working all in the same breath! His workers were not on time but early (awesome), professional, quiet, and clean. I thought they were working honeybees. I got pictures during the work from the owner, Ron, and I could see them working expertly and efficiently on my camera system. Then the interior work team led by Miguel, real nice & enthusiastic guy, were on time, and worked during a power outage, without skipping a beat. Ron personally completed the siding work on my chimney and checked the roofers work. I got pictures and a cert of completion with my final invoice. We had a major rain storm with high winds and I had no issues with my roof. Call this company if you want residential work done sufficiently, efficiently, cordially, and economically. They are licensed, bonded, & insured (I double checked). read more

WARNING: Area Roofing will not stand behind their work. 21 months after they installed my roof, it started to leak. At first, they wouldn't even come out to look and see what was wrong. Eventually, they sent out a contractor, a young man who spoke poor English and didn't seem to have much in the way of equipment. He claimed that the issue was that the chimney was leaking, not the roof. I called a couple of different chimney companies and spent over $1K updating the chimney pipe and the weather sealing, yet the leaking didn't stop. Eventually, Area Roofing recommended another contractor, Harry and Sons to do a full chimney replacement. When Harry and Sons came out, they quickly realized that there was nothing wrong with the chimney, but the roof was installed improperly. Even then, Area Roofing refused to fix the roof under warranty. Harry and Sons, however fixed my roof and it stopped leaking, although I spent almost $2K over a problem that should have been fixed under warranty. read more

We had Area Roofing install new roofs on two buildings. One of the buildings, built on pylons in the Magothy River, had a very old roof on slats, making the work difficult and the need for cleanliness very important. After receiving estimates from several firms, we decided to use Area. We required the use of high-end materials as these roofs are difficult to access and are expected to last a long time. Additionally, we had limited windows of time when the work could be done. All the work was done exactly when promised with no cost overruns. As you are well aware, the installation of new roof shingles is not a very fun event for the homeowner. Your sales staff did an outstanding job of managing the project and they were very responsive to our concerns. Your salesperson was in constant contact and would return our calls promptly, which is not the norm in today's contracting community. Used them over the years , but became dissatisfied with their service. Three times they repaired flashing along front of the house and it would come off about a year later. I had them put a new roof on my house which in retrospect turned out to be pricey. I asked them if they could repair the flashing again at a small section at the front of the house which they had done and just couldn't get it right. Their salesman told me that it would be at least $500 since they were very busy. You would think that after over twenty thousand dollars I had spent with them they would give me a break on the price and availability! I will never use or recommend them again to anyone! read more

I hired Area Roofing & Siding to replace the siding on my townhome after lightning struck it during a bad storm last year. I have to say that the process was extremely easy from start to finish despite complications with my insurance company. Ron Hare was very helpful in coordinating all of the moving pieces from accommodating my hectic schedule to arranging for the work to be done ahead of schedule. Even my neighbors were extremely pleased with their work as they were literally in and out in less than 2 days and left the work site impeccable when they were finished. Contacted the Co. on 10/22/13 for an estimate to fix a leaking roof. Ron came out and stated he'd call on Friday with a date to fix the problem. No call. On Monday, October 28th, I called and spoke with Ron at 8:30 a.m. and he stated he would come over and fix the roof on Tuesday, October 29th. Ron has not called, did not come to do the repairs, and I have received no word from him. Needless, to say I wont be calling back and wont force him to take my money. Very unprofessional, unreliable, and not a dependable roofing company. I must say I believe this is his (Ron's ) common practice. Run fast and contact another roofing company for your repairs!!!!!! read more

I hired Area Roofing and Siding to fix various issue cited in the home inspection for a property I'm selling in Upper Marlboro. They really did a fantastic job and I recommend them 100%. The head of the company (Kevin Kimble) is customer focused and cares about his clients - I reached out to him at one point and he was extremely polite and responsive. I found the company to be honest, upfront, and reasonable - they don't try to price gouge or manipulate their customers. Be aware. Area Roofing and Siding put on new roof on a house that I just bought, and there were leaks two months ago when I moved in. I contacted them about it - to see if the one year warranty applied. It took 2 weeks and several follow up calls to get the salesman out here to look @ it, and he said his team would come fix the leaks... And there are still leaks a month later... Me thinks they didn't come to fix it... Disappointing, but par for the course in this day and age - quality work seems to be a thing of the past... read more

I had a couple leaks in my old flat roof on my townhouse in Baltimore City. A friend of mine recommended Area Roofing to me. I spoke with Todd Johnson who was both friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended two options: add a layer or complete tearoff. I went with the latter as I expect to be in my house long-term. He scheduled a time that was convenient for me and the crew had the work done in a day. I haven't had any issues with leaking since. I would definitely recommend this company to friends. read more

Very dissatisfied. These people do not communicate well. Once you sign a contract, you'll never hear from them again. They do not give you the courtesy to let you know when they are coming, they don't even knock to let you know they are at your house, they do not check their own work before completing the job, you just receive an invoice in the mail when they are done. I wish I hadn't paid so promptly. They damaged my screens and promised to fix them. No big deal. They missed 3 delivery dates and then the guy with them, allegedly, left town. The office staff is rude and unhelpful. There are dozens of other options. Choose someone else. read more

Area did a good job of what they did. No one called me to tell me when they were coming, they just showed up. I asked them to be very careful not to get on my neighbor's lawn. I looked out and their materials were spread all over my neighbor's lawn. The roof does not leak. However they left the job incomplete. Raw wood was left exposed with no paint. I called and the salesman came back and said they would paint it. Six weeks later, no communication or paint. I called the owner, he was in a meeting and never returned my call. I hired someone else to do the work and subtracted the amount from the amount I owed Area. Good work, no communication, no completion. read more

This company if they still exist is terrible! I used them in 2012 to repair a leaking roof. They did not show up when they said they would the first time. When they did come and "reportedly fix the leak" it was without notice. I only received an invoice saying the job was done and demanding payment. I have video cameras on my home and pulled up the day they said the leak was fixed. The workmen were at my home for less than 30 minutes (20 of which was loading and unloading the ladder). When I called to complain about the time and how much work could have been really done in 10 minutes on the roof, the contact firmly stated the work was done correctly, but was quick to take off $75.00, instead of conducting the re-inspection I requested. It's now 2014 and guess what, my roof is leaking again...surprise! read more

I was amazed, We did not have to argue with you, we didn't even have to complain. All we did was tell you we were concerned with an issue and you fixed it. Your Representative in this area was professional, friendly and helpful. The two guys that came out to fix the issue were the same. With all the lousy contractors out there today ( and we have had our experience with one) it is so nice to know there is a company out there that you can trust to live up to there word and standards. read more

Realize that at least with gutters, this company subcontracts the work. The customer will save this overhead charge by contracting directly with a company that does the work. As with any 2nd party arrangement, the customer will probably experience coordination, communication and some bureaucratic problems. If you're willing to pay the additional bucks and put up with the bureaucracy, you'll likely get the results you want, but it may be touch and go in the process. At least it was in my case. One other thing: make sure that they sign the contract also. Only the customer signs the contract they use now. read more

Company came recommended to us by friends. When shingles were dropped off large divots were left in my yard and driveway. I was never called on the day of install, despite being told I would be given notice, prior to the teams arrival on the job. (I was left sitting in my home with a small child awaiting pounding to begin, the work actually began the following day without notice.) Pleased with roof, but called the company to follow up regarding drive way damage and stray nails being left around the house to no avail. Someone supposedly came back with a large magnet to collect spare nails, but it didn't seem to help. Gutters were still filled with roofing nails. Salesman came to take pictures of divots in driveway and said driveway would be fixed but that was where that ended. I have called the company since having our roof replaced in May 2015, with no repair. I wouldn't recommend this company to any friends/family due to utter lack of communication and poor follow up with customers. read more
