They are a nonprofit 501(c) (3) rescue organization that rescues dogs in high kill shelters in California. Laura Green is the best Executive Director and really knows her stuff. I've only interacted with her. On May 13, 2023, I went to PetSmart on Chad drive to a local adoption event that was from 12:00-4:00. I arrived at 10:00 because I really wanted to meet one pup and her name was Cheesecake! When I got there, nobody was there yet from Wiggly Tails and I didn't mind. I waited very patiently and the wait is definitely worth it. A potential adopter was supposed to be there and time kept going by and going by. I told Laura to call or text me if things didn't work out with the other potential adopter I'd come back and meet her or meet her the next day. I'd left at about 3:00 without Cheesecake. I'd gotten about 10 minutes away and had received a text from Laura that read, baby come back!! Oh man, my heart jumped up in my throat. I went back and Laura had told me things didn't work out with the other potential adopter and asked me if I wanted to meet her. She didn't even have to wait for my answer as she probably could hear the excitement in my voice when I called her after her text to me and I'd told her where I was and how long it'd take me to get back there. Cheesecakes foster mom brought her to me and oh my, she absolutely melted my heart and I know now that I melted hers. We both fell in love with each other right then and there. Cheesecake is now Zoë and my toddler fur child. She's Japanese Chin/Pekingese x, to me though she's all my baby girl. I don't know what her life was prior to her rescue, but I know that her foster mom and Laura did an amazing job with her as you'd never know where she came from and you, like myself couldn't imagine why someone would take her to such a place or if she was a stray, you'd never know now. Zoë's 1000% spoiled, just as it should be and she's living her best life thanks to Laura and Wiggly Tails. There is an adoption fee. It takes care of the gas to go down to California to get them and bring them back, spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, a free bag of the dog food they're already on, a free extensive veterinary visit(one supported by Wiggly Tails) their second sets of shots, their collar, and or harness and leash, a whole paper from PetSmart with amazing coupons, including grooming. It's amazing to adopt a dog and or animal and I was lucky enough to cross paths with Wiggly Tails as I've adopted the perfect gem Thank you to Laura Green, staff and Wiggly Tails! I ended up adopting a senior cat and she is just what I wanted; talkative, follows me from room to room and is such good company. The staff is always very busy as it looks like they are understaffed some.

Service is ok... sometimes they seem understaffed, sometimes just bored. But if it helps the felines, I will continue coming here.

I recently adopted a dog from SafeHaven after buying a house a few months ago. I had been looking…read morefor a while and finally found the perfect match on their site. I found him the same day he got to the shelter and convinced my partner to go meet him with me. We got there about half an hour before they closed on a Sunday and they let us stay with him in a room until half an hour after closing. We spent time with him in the yard even though it was raining, and when he was apprehensive we went inside and he came right to me. The person who was working with us offered some treats for us to give him and checked in on us every once in a while, giving us privacy to just be with him and talk together. When we left I knew he was the dog for us. I talked to my partner and convinced him, and the next day we called and placed a hold on the boy we had visited with. We showed up about an hour later and went through the adoption process. It took about half an hour and included a detailed explanation of his file, his medical records, and what the knew about him. We filled out the adoption application, they entered the information, then took my payment. Once we paid, they brought our new family member out to us. I put the collar and leash I had for him on and we took a picture together. The staff walked him out to our car and he jumped right in. I got in with him and he put his head in my lap. He's been my shadow ever since! He's gotten more comfortable in our home every day and there have been no nasty surprises yet. The facility is super nice and looks newer. There are hoses hooked up to the walls and ceiling for easy cleaning. The dog room and hallway before it do stink of dog pee, but there's nothing you can do about that when you run an indoor shelter. There's a ton of yard space and a walking track. There's a separate room that looked like a quarantine for new arrivals (or possibly small dogs, but it looked pretty empty so my guess is quarantine) and a whole other area for cats so they don't have the stress of dog noise right next to them. There's a small room in the lobby where you can meet dogs. They have a shop you can get supplies at if you are needing stuff for your first night together. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone knows the dogs and their stories and status, even the front desk folks. They clearly care about the animals that they are responsible for. The dogs seemed to be well cared-for and happy. The cat room also looked cozy, but we didn't go in so I don't know much about it. There is plenty of parking. We missed the turn the first time because our GPS told us to turn later, but looking back it should have been obvious because they had street signs pointing to the humane society. Just something to keep in mind if you go. If you're on the fence about going here to find your next family member, do it! These people are amazing and the animals are cared for and loved. Our experience was nothing short of wonderful.

Worked hard too! Absolutely loved the animals. But, unfortunately, she had to have a serious operation done. The way they treated her after she got back was ridiculous. So, folks that know her always remember that when going in to see the animals. The animals remember people and when someone is gone that they got close to makes it hard for them too. Treat all well! If you're an equine fan, I'm betting it's a much higher rating. The size of the facility seems more than adequate to support the horses living there, and the hospital barn that houses the "special needs" horses appears to be top-notch. Pastures that hold the general population are splendiferously fenced and maintained to keep the horses safe and secure. Duchess Sanctuary's staff and volunteers are all friendly, and they genuinely seem to really enjoy working there. Their hard work provides the horses a healthy and comfortable place to thrive in. The care and attention given to the horses is impressive. The medical attention alone is remarkable. If you're in the area, this horse sanctuary is worth visiting. I see some negative reviews from a while ago but my experience has been nothing but amazing. I've…read moreadopted both of my cats from here and they're the sweetest loving happy and health lives. Adopted them and they were up to date on shots, seemed healthy, and were neutered. I got my first cat from here as a kitten over a year and a half ago and got my other cat about 6 months ago. Whenever I'm visited too I've had nothing but good experiences.
