Two things I recommend: Buy a ticket with discounted washes, you'll save about 30%. Second, tip the guys doing the work scrubbing down your rims and putting elbow grease into the pre-wash service. It's the right thing to do and your car will look all the better for it. They give you a dashboard wipe (two if you ask nicely) and cardboard air fresheners if you want them. It features 2 islands, a small shop, and a smog station. Gas was $5.69/ UL Reg. Yes, that's high, but this station is on a major road. I went inside the shop to see if they had cough drops. The young lady (cashier) was very friendly and helpful. The only neg.....I saw a worker, an older man, smoking a cigarette about 30-feet from the gas pumps. I suppose that's safe, but it sets a bad example for safety. Overall, a fair experience here.

The lone person on staff there told us we'd have to come back after noon because there was no one there who could help us at the time. She sounded not a little frustrated. We found that the U-Haul facility across 101 on Bayshore had propane, and since we were in the neighborhood, decided to try getting some there despite their terrible Yelp reviews. To our pleasant surprise, we encountered helpful, friendly service, and were able to get our two tanks filled in a few minutes there.

First, it's kept super clean. Always. From the pumps to the mini mart, there's never any disarray or mess. Second, they play instrumental music. Somehow the simple addition of Beethoven, Bach, or Tchaikovsky turns the very mundane act of pumping gas into something almost refined. Thirdly, I try to stay on top of my car's (her name is Baby) tire pressure. Here, all you have to do is ask an attendant, & they will happily check the air pressure for you. Yes, happily. Is it weird that I actually look forward to coming here? I think Baby does too. 5 stars.

The guys here are usually really quick (no longer than 30 minutes) but I usually come in the mornings so I can't speak for later in the day. Today I actually had 3 other cars in front of me but it still didn't take more than 30 mins. I really appreciate the guy running the smog checks today. He was hustling, running back and fourth when he really don't need to but it's awesome to see him taking his job seriously and wanting to get customers in and out to go about their days. As soon as a customer pulls up, he grabbed a clipboard and ran over to them. When customers were on their phones while sitting in the waiting area, the employee came over to let them know it's ready instead of yelling out their names. Just little things to made it a pleasant experience. Taraval also has a few coffee shops in the area so you could also go hang out somewhere and check back in later!

I guess they have take-out, but you have to provide your own containers. Anyway, I like this station for convenience, as they have 3 entrances, a smog check, & a convenience store. This pumps are basic, can only pay by inserting credit card, but if you care, you can get Safeway points. For large vehicles, you might want to go elsewhere. The only entrance wide enough is adjacent to the sidewalk, must be entered from market street. You will have zero ability to turn around, so pick you pump wisely. The other pump stations require some finagling, even for small cars. The gas is cheaper on the other corner, but much harder to access. One other thing, this doesn't happen on every visit, but the cleaning water was filthy. That said, this is my go-to gas station.
