For years I'd choose this station to fill up my car if its lines weren't too long: They extend onto Fell Street, sometimes for minutes. It can get fractious between drivers in a hurry - it can be theater some afternoons - but with prices rising, I'm back, I'll wait. Tonight I explained to the owner in the booth the last time I filled up there was an error getting correct change. He remembered and gave me a credit tonight. (It helps he knows me by sight, plus I'm honest). To fill up your car and save $8-$14 a tank this is the place to go on the Divisadero corridor nearby 80-E/101-S. No frills, just inexpensive & decent quality fuel. Bring cash, it's the cheapest way. They take debit but they charge $0.35 (maybe it's more now) to use your card and the per gallon prices are a bit higher. read more

Noticing that Gregory that I know as Greg because after coming here many times I've connected with him in a great way although what I noticed tonight is, it's not just me. He really puts out great vibes to every customer. It's very impressive. I really think this gas station is especially lucky to have him making people feel so welcomed and warm when getting the least expensive gas that I found in San Francisco. And the other thing that I learned recently about Arco is that they use something that's new to me called top-tier gas, which means it's got this detergent additive that makes it better at cleaning some part of the engine. I mean, I don't really know about what I'm saying because I just learned this idea from AI and of course for all I know it's in accurate and I'd love to know if it's accurate or not but anyway at this point in addition to focusing on saving money on gas, I'm only gonna go with the least expensive top-tier until I learn I learned the wrong thing from AI, Evan Richards, San Francisco organizer. read more

If you read through my reviews, I try my best not to bash local businesses and only highlight great experiences. But I have to stay true to my experiences also when they are less than desirable. This review is about what happened after getting gas here and is not reflective of any service given. I work in the city (SF) and drive past this gas station many times hoping to stop here because of the cheap price of fuel. However, there are usually LONG lines in the morning so I just bypass it. Last week, on a Monday (12/4 to be specific)- I was there in the afternoon with time to spare and needed to fuel up so I pulled in. I was sure to check my surroundings and I purchased gas at the pump using ONLY my phone to tap for payment. This is my preferred method in most stores especially gas stations because of the skimming machines and fraud. Anyway, I purchased my gas and kept on my merry way. A few hours later, I got an email from a Subway location in Rancho Cucamonga with an invoice for multiple purchases of food within a two hour span. Immediately, I checked my bank account and that money had been taken out of my account. I immediately locked the card. I contacted the local Subway store and spoke to the owner who was able to give me a description of the person who came in store to pick up the orders that had been placed online. She agreed to not hand them any more food. I was able to contact my bank the next day and get refunded the 5 orders that were placed- I did notice the scammers tried to order more food from this Subway the next day but could not because I had locked the car and report it as fraud. The reason I am leaving this review for this specific gas station is this was the ONLY time I used my card that day. It's odd because I only used my phone to TAP for payment vs. using a physical card because of scammers. But I've NEVER used this gas station before and have never had my bank account frauded so it's a little coincidental. So I would just say proceed with caution- if you can pay with cash at any gas station going forward- do so because that seems to be the safest option. read more

Pro: Some of the Cheapest Gas In the Northwest part of San Francisco. Con: It's on what I consider in San Francisco to be an Expressway with bad road planning by SF. No Credit Cards , and a small fee for Debts. Station is pretty much No Frills It gets very busy and you can expect waits during most hours. As for my visit the other day , I needed about 10 Gallons making the .35 debit fee nominal, and I was there at 7am so No Line , though there had been a short one when I drove past the night before at around 9pm, but they also had pumps blocked off due to a tanker I get gas here , but lack the patience to wait when there is a line stretching into the street. read more

I am saying, if you don't want to get into a verbal altercation or even a fender bender, don't frequent this gas station. Folks don't give a tinkers damn about how they enter and exit the facility. Great prices on fuel but between the popularity of the place and the badly worn "exit only" paint written on the Fell St. driveway this place is an accident ready to happen. The paint on the driveway is worn to the point its illegible. Furthermore there is a great big arrow that points inward on that exit only driveway. The arrow is meant to show that the left lane turns left into Divis but it is totally confusing. The gas station is clean and prides itself on long fill hoses that can fill no matter which side of the tank your fill up is. I guess Americans are hyper aware of fuel prices and so everybody flocks to this place. I do think it is a safer bet to fill up at what isn't the cheapest place in town. read more

I visited this gas station today for a quick and easy smog check. The DMV service person who was handling my license transfer & CA car registration actually recommended it. I asked what the price was and it was much less than I anticipated, around $52 including tax. The process was pretty quick, total time under 30 minutes as there were no other cars in queue for service needs. My car passed the test without issue, phew. Cheapest gas in SF, but need to look at the machine carefully. I paid $100 cash yesterday so it was supposed to charge me $5.85 instead of $5.95 for debit card price. After filling up my tank, I realized it didn't charge me the correct price. I complained to the Indian attendant and hoped to get $2 refunded. Instead of apologizing and admitting to the mistake, he got angry and yelled at me. It clearly says I was charged $93 and at $5.95 at the machine. Other people started complaining because they are impatient waiting to fill up their gas, even though it's not my fault. At the end, the attendant refused to change the price. I decided to forgive and write this review warning others to check the price after paying and before filling up your gas. Dishonest - pricing gauging - they advertised 6.27/ gallon on 6/19/2022 and when I got my receipt it said 6.379/gal. I called immediately and the person who could barely speak English said to call back the next day and speak to the manager. I called and the same number became a fax number. I then called Corporate Arco Customer Service and was given a phone number to call that was the US Dept of Energy and I was told to complain to them about price gauging. This gas station probably has the best prices and all of San Francisco. But if you come here you're going to have to wait a while to get to pump. It's very rare that I have issues when filling up my tank at Arco. If anything it's just because their pumps are out of service or just not super responsive.. And by now most locals are aware of that, so there's often a short line of cars, that gets longer during commuting hours. This is the most popular Arco gas station in the city. The gas prices are usually 20-30 cents lower than competitors, and even 2-3 cents lower than the other 3 Arco gas stations in SF. I don't come here often, because I dislike the wait, and also the sometimes rude drivers that come here to fill their gas tanks. For example last night, a hillbilly jerk driving a huge hunter green truck parked in the middle blocking both gas pumps. He refused to move, and just yelled at me to go use other gas pumps. I had to line up for the opposing gas pump, and pull the hose to its limit, because my gas cap is on the left side. Remember that all Arco gas stations charge a transaction fee for ALL card payments (except their own). I needed an oil change and i needed it bad. This place was close, and i was hoping it would be quick. Pulled right in...its a first come first served thing...and luckily i was first. 15 minutes i was quoted. Here's the problem: you have a credit card that gives you 5% off gas purchases. But Arco is the cheapest gas in SF and doesn't take credit card. What do you do? Answer: get a gift card. It's an extra step, but it's worth it. Did you know they take BP gift cards here? You can often find those at a 10% discount on eBay (like today, 7/30/15). I've been getting gas here forever,and most of the time the place runs pretty smoothly, with many regulars who know how the place works. Always pull up to the front pump! I've saved a lot of money over the years. Cash is king, bear that in mind. The two things I don't care for, it's very smoggy so I always set that hook on the pump and sit in my car while the tank is filling up. And it can be daunting getting off that lot onto Fell St. Just once I'd like to see a gaggle of cyclists yield to an auto. Just once. But economically, I can afford that take out dinner from Tsing Tao just a little better because I always buy my gas here. Try to hit it before 3 or after 7 if you can, or you will wait longer than you'd like. A little bottle of windex and water will make up for that lack of a squeegie. You save that much in one fill up. Without question, the least expensive place to get gas in town. And yeah, it's a little hectic sometimes getting gas there but look at where it is people! If you have to wait then turn off your engine and listen to some tunes, make a call, fix your hair, do some of the things you shouldn't be doing while driving. There are a couple of staff members at this place that I now know by name and they are always going out of their way to say hello and make sure I'm taken care of. When you hand over cash at this place, make sure to get a receipt immediately. I counted out my money carefully to myself, $39 in an odd assortment of bills, but gave it to the attendant in a stack and didn't ask for a receipt. When I got to the pump, it only gave me $29 of gas. When I went back to complain, the attendant insisted I gave him $29. Nothing I could do about it, so I left. Yes the gas is is cheap, but.... 1. there's always a line. Please factor in the gas you burn while waiting in line. 2. the facility is super old. I always have a hard time using the hose. Quality of gas? IDK, it is top tier gas, but I also heard arco gas has lower mpg compared to other gas. So take your own risk. I used to live in this neighborhood, so this was my neighborhood gas station. With gas as expensive as ever, I was shocked to learn that this ARCO in the City had cheaper unleaded than the "cheap" ARCO in the Central Valley that was on my list of useful places to stop between the Bay Area and LA. Never thought that would happen. I only wished that I had immediately filled up on Friday night. The price went up four cents the next day. Yes, there is almost always a wait here, but that's because it's cheap and with a commodity like gas, there's always some people hit disproportionately.
