I usually hate ARCO because they only take cash, and don't take payment at the pumps. Also, the locations are usually weird and tricky to get to. Used my debit card at the car wash. Card was declined I thought I might have made a mistake on the zip code so I inserted the card again. Same outcome.... checked my account and I was debited $100 each time. Called the station and apparently this has occurred many times before. Was challenged by employee on if I had purchased gas. Once I explained what pump we were on and know waiting at the air station. He still refused to activate the pump or provide a token. He immediately became very rude. Stated he has no control of the air and I need to call the company of the air/water station. I have never in my life heard such a thing. I then asked for the number to this location and he refused to surrender that information. Stated he doesn't know and I asked for his name (John). I felt discriminated, disrespected and threatened. So I went to this ampm in March 20th the same day I bought my car from someone. And I wanted to wash it at the express wash here. So I walked up to the cashier who was FaceTiming someone as I'm asking her if the vacuums work she says she doesn't know. Didn't give me any other info. She had bad customer service so I go through the Carwash and it does not rinse my car nor dry it. So I go back inside and there is a line of people and the same lady is on the phone and walks away from the register. So another lady comes out and is like " what is going on?" So she starts taking care of all the customers one by one. Her name was Jacquetta and she did an excellent job with taking care of each other customer as quickly as possible. I explained to her what happened with the Carwash so she gives me another Carwash and says if it doesn't work this time come back in for a full refund and I asked her if the vacuums works she says yes it does. But that lady Valerie who was face timing and left a line of customers standing in line needs to get a new profession or another job because customer satisfaction is not what she strives for. So fast forwarding to a week later I get a phone call from the manager Michelle who was very apologetic About my experience with that cashier and she handled my call very well. Let's just say I will definitely be returning to this gas station due to Michelle's excellent management skills in making me feel like a valued customer. I stopped there for gas and car wash. My card was broken, something was wrong with it. The attendant Eric along with his manager Kat both took their time to help me out, figuring out my card, even though it was busy there. They took the time and even explained what I'd need to do to fix it. (I'm older and don't like technology). I truely appreciate it. read more

This is my default gas station in town. They are close and almost always have the lowest prices on Gasbuddy.com. They don't take credit cards and have the standard $.45 charge to use your debit card. Their price us about $.30/gal cheaper if you get a car wash. The car wash is $6 alone. So if you're getting 20 gal or more it's like you are getting the car wash free (if my math is right). There is a good sized minimart with the usual microwave goods, pop, candy, snacks etc. The location is convenient, especially if you are heading for the freeway. And the clerks have always been pleasant when I needed to go inside to pay. read more

Signs is posted on the front door that everyone must wear a mask before entering and keep a distance of 6ft while inside the store. Yet two out of the three workers were NOT wearing a mask. The only gentleman that was wearing a mask was working in the back. The two ladies working the one front counter weren't wearing mask or gloves. I won't be going back. read more

Mad Max: " I'm just here for the gasoline." This Arco is always lower than the Chevron across the street. Usually by .30 cents or more. (Does the station across the street think we can't see the Big Arse Sign that shows that Arco is .30 cents lower?) .30x13 gallons = 3.90 which is a whole gallon of Gas! NOW I do not mean to get all MAD MAX on these fools, but I need that GAS, and I'm frugal as heck! Someone commented on "all of the America flags," well there is likely a reason, and it probably has to do with 9/11. I won't get into the story, but if you have been in this neighborhood long enough, you'll know that there was a connection back in the day. In my opinion, this station is extra patriotic to over compensate for... well as I said, I won't speak about it. Anyway, we need that cheap gas, so let's support the lowest, least greedy Baster-Dastardly stations that we can, and for this area this is one of the lowest! read more

Loved the results of the car wash and for $6-$9 I can't complain about the price... But what I will critique is that it's an annoying set up! I drove in only to be unable to figure out how to pay without going inside. Once inside, you receive a code and while there you must pay in cash or face a debit or credit fee. Everyone needs to avoid this ARCO. l told their staff twice that over use of the American Flag is not a way to add to sales. They show several at the entrance of the drive through car wash to capture our attention to clean our cars. There is also a single flag at the west entrance/exit which is sadly faded and worn. There is inadequate light for this after dark. The American Flag is holding up an ad for cheap food. See for yourself. Anywhere you see a troubled flag, call the local Boy Scout Troop, make a donation to them. They know what to do to respect the retirement of Old Glory. read more

I go to this station occasionally, as it is around corner from LA MESA Library... bought gas and got car wash, which did not clean or dry car had to go in and request towel to dry off car, and clean off dirt went in to get manager's contact info, but the 2 employees were dealing with crowd of coke drinkers, other unhappy car wash customers ..it was chaos! even female employee stated she was overwhelmed filed dispute with visa, but they couldn't help me for some 'non-pin' reason and they said merchant unwilling to resolve complaint amazing that merchant will not provide service, but cares more re $8.35 [guess arco needs the $$, for gulf oil spill..after all this is BP [british petroleum]] I plan to pursue this directly w/ manager etc read more

I walked in to buy some stuff and gas. I couldn't see anybody .......and a lady finally came back from the corner to help me. She literally rang me up and once she saw I was paying with a card she left from behind the counter. Did not offer an explanation did not apologize nothing she didn't even wait for me with my card to offer me a receipt she just left...........I think she may have been fixing something but two people that were working there were in the corner so one of them could a ring up and the other could fix the problem instead of just standing there watching but just an idea. read more

I stopped for gas and inserted my credit card into the payment slot and was asked for my PIN number. I cancelled and tried it 2 more times and finally went in to pay for my gas in the store. I waited, and once the clerk was free, I was informed that they did not take credit cards, only debit cards. They could not explain why. I asked why there was not a sign on the island stating this and was told that they could not post anything outside. I said that it would aid customers to understand the policy without having to go into the store, only to find this out. The clerk was very unhelpful, I wasted 10 minutes without getting gas, so I went to another station that wants to have my business. read more
