I found this place on accident as I am not from the area and I am SO grateful I did! I was on the freeway when I heard something hit under my car and then shortly after my tire pressure light came on. As I pulled off the freeway to check it out, I saw his service center and pulled in. The owner, Nathan came out to greet me and heard my tire hissing. Long story short, he had me on the road again in 15 minutes with a patched tire when he could have pressured me to buy new ones because I needed them. The owner is a friendly, honest man! This gas station is roughly half a mile away from Chevron but with at least 15 cents expensive gas, along with the old pumps and nozzles that require a lot of elbow grease to fill the tank (with fuel tanks like my Ford has). Doesn't look like this location is in mood of giving a tough competition to any of their competitors around them. The world is changing fast but not the same for everyone. I come to this gas station often because my vehicle takes E85 ethanol and this is the closest station to my house as u can see I. The picture below ......Today around 3:30pm as soon as me and my boyfriend pull up to the 1 pump that offer E85 we are approached by an employee within the first 30!seconds of being parked. As we were deciding on how much to pay and how much to put in it must have taken us way too long because he seems to be very irritated and blamed us for thrashing the business and throwing all of our trash on the floor. (This could not be further from the truth). I had $15 and my boyfriend was looking through his backpack for the $20 bill that he had so we could put that in instead. So as soon as he found it I hopped out of the car and the employee was already standing there harassing us about taking too long and blocking other customers from getting to a pump. Well unfortunately none of the other pumps had that type of gas so the two cars behind us was not intentionally our fault to start a line of cars. After pumping our gas I had my boyfriend move the car and I politely approached the window asking the employee if there was any trash we may have missed and simply explained that one thing fell out of our car while we were looking for our money and in no way we're we trying to "thrash" their business and his response was, "he is twacked out and tossing trash everywhere and into the floor when there is a trash can two feet away" and I was in utter shock by the judge mental remark this man had. So I simply asked him for his name which he refused to give me and asked for his managers name and he replied "why?" And I said because I feel like the lack of customer service and his choice of words and judge mental behavior was extremely rude and since we are frequent customers of this location I was extremely offended because all of his judgement couldn't be more wrong and as an employee he should keep his opinions to himself. Then he pointed to a piece of paper that was in the spot (which was the only piece of trash that was left when we pulled away) and I walked over to throw it away and when I picked it up it was a kids writing in crayon so I brought it to him and said clearly this piece of trash did not belong to us. Honestly I am appalled by rude comments and behavior of this employee and he refused to give me his name. He was blonde, white, with a frecklish complexion. I'm hoping he was just having a bad day and we ended up being the victims of his insults because if he treats all the customers this way, I hope someone humbles him and in life acting" superior" to someone just because they have this false sense of superiority he is going to have a rude awakening and I hope management does something about this interaction. read more

Currently in 2022 there is a mechanic shortage. For a year the crappy, former place I had my car serviced would do my oil change quickly & not inspect my car or research any needed work; I could tell they were short-handed. AAA offered a free summer vehicle inspection. I phoned 4 auto shops, they gave the impression of being short-handed & only had appts for early morning or didn't even know AAA had them on the referral list. When I phoned La Mesa Fuels and Auto Repair I got a 12pm next day. The owner is straightforward & I get positive, competent vibes from him. He has plenty of staff & they're cool too. The inspection revealed I needed some work done & it was easy to make a convenient appt. Nathan doesn't offer a lounge with tv & a Keurig, maybe that's part of why his prices are fair. I read & get snacks/drinks from the Sinclair station which is attached, & Sinclair is my favorite gas. Full service including smog & DMV services. They mainly use Napa parts. In summary: I trust the owner, convenient appts, prices are good & he has plenty of staff. My new auto repair shop. read more

Today 11/14/2019 8:45a.m I am very disappointed at their customers service. My wife & I, we're regular customer here. We're always pumped gas here because very convenient we live near fewer blocks away Murray Hill Road), but I will never coming back again. The young caucasian lady at cashier was very rude & bad attitude. I can not pump my tires today, because I don't pump gas today. The cashier asked me "did you pump gas today?" I am just been honest to her I said "No not today." Then she raised her voice let me tell you the policy & she kept going on policy. She doesn't want to listening me & I walked out the store. Even though, my car is full tank of gas pumping here couple days ago. The gas prices here are always high but the gas is pretty good quality so that's a big plus in my book. Seeing that the prices are high it's usually pretty slow so you don't have to worry about finding a gas pump to use. One of the biggest things that I like about this place is that they give you cash back on your purchases up to 50 bucks. I know a lot of gas stations will not even give you cash back. Also for safety issues they will not have the door open to go inside unless the smog workers are there. Which makes me think that at some point maybe they were robbed. I know this area is not the safest but they do have a window with a little drop box that you can use if you want a soda, chips or something small. read more

I posted a tip earlier the prices aren't always the lowest but the location is convenient. And they are a STAR smog station which was needed for a smog - and they took me in without an appointment, that's great service (and they did it between 12 & 1 when most are taking lunch, another plus +) Becky at the counter was helpful and friendly as well. read more

I never buy gas at Shell, because I like my money in my pocket, no theirs. These guys get five stars however, because they actually sell propane by the gallon (not just a five-gallon tank swap)! So many places only do tank swaps. And, the two times that I've been there, they've always been quick about coming out and doing the fill for me. "A" for effort, gentlemen! read more

Moving down from San Francisco area, and finally reached my destination in San Diego, however did need gas to fill up, figured i would do it now versus later when I'm lazy. Right when I was about to proceed, my dad needed to use the restroom, the lady at the counter refused us to use the restroom without hesitation. Now I don't wanna assume anything BUT it did not feel good and not what I wanted or expected after a long drive! Declined getting gas at this location. I HOPE management knows that this goes on. The staff here are great. I have 3 trucks that I bring to them to do their regular maintenance. Have never had a problem in over a year. Also they do the registration aspect as well. It's 25 for them to do it and it saves me so much time by not having to go to the sloooow DMV lol. Thanks guys. read more

My wife went to stop and get E85 gas at this station. There were two cars sitting by the pumps with the two drivers just talking and talking and not getting gas. My wife politely went to them and asked if they are getting gas since they were blocking her pump. They stated yes, and proceeded to talk and talk without taking on fuel. My wife went inside and asked if they could do something and the lady also went outside and asked if they were taking on fuel which they said yes. The lady went back inside and the men continued to talk and talk. Then a women comes across the street and hops into one of the cars and he leaves, not buying any fuel... the other driver finally goes inside to pay for his fuel and stops by the garage and speaks with the mechanics. Comes out and finally fuels his vehicle. While he's fueling the 3 mechanics come outside and verbally assault my wife yelling at her about harassing the guy pumping gas driving her to tears. I don't know what that guy said to those mechanics but this is the second instance of those mechanics being a**holes. The other time they told people waiting for an oil change to park by the pumps and they wouldn't move so people could buy E85 fuel. I don't know what their problem is but a police report is coming soon. I will never, ever step foot there to purchase fuel or service forms those pricks. read more

I would never voluntarily go to gas station mechanic. But was forced to for the CA brake and light inspection. My brake lines were worn but they probably had some life left? Any fluid on them was likely spilled when the lines were removed and doesn't necessarily indicate a leak? But with the CA inspection they have you over a barrel because if you leave the facility you have to pay the $90 test fee again. Maybe it guarantees a minimal level of service but It's also a racket and completely at their discretion. $110 an hour labor fee seems high certainly way more than my mechanic charges and the $49.63 per brake line is more than the Toyota Dealer. $20 for brake fluid. All in it was over $400 on just front wheels. They of course wanted to do all 4 but generously allowed me to leave having only two repaired. Well, my ABS light came on during the drive home. I've had way worse experiences at mechanics. And I can't prove they did anything unethical only charged me high end prices for a part that was cosmetically worn but still functional. read more

I felt ripped off by the service shop. Went in to get an estimate on replacement of a water pump. Tell the service attendant a bit of the history as to why I was there, that vehicle was making funny noise and it was not the alternator. Tells me he can do a thorough inspection to diagnose the problem because he wouldn't want me to pay for something I don't need (i.e. water pump) for a fee of $96. That should've been my cue to leave. Instead I said go ahead and inspect... my car sits in the repair stall 5.10.15. minutes. Nothing. He sees me looking "oh.. I'm just letting the engine cool" A few minutes later he calls me over and says listen to this, it''s your alternator. His diagnosis tool is a stethoscope. What happened to the thorough inspection? Like putting the car up and taking it apart like he told me......nothing!!! Just used a stethoscope and told me it was my alternator. This after I had already told him that the alternator shop folks said it wasn't the alternator,.....Toyota folks told me it wasn't the alternator, rather it's probably the water pump. This so called thorough service happened in less than 20 minutes at the cost of $96. I was better of staying going to the Toyota dealer! read more
