This location is always clean, has plenty of space and is super easy to get in and out of without feeling cramped. I hardly ever see workers around, but I've never had any issues. COSTCO GAS STATION @ LA MESA I've been coming to this Costco gas station multiple times, and I usually stop by in the evenings, anywhere from around 8 PM to 10 PM. I really like coming during this time because there's barely anyone here. I never end up waiting, and especially on weekdays, you'll almost never see a line. This gas station is definitely one of the cheapest in the San Diego area, especially near SDSU. The prices here are so much better, I've seen them range from $3.99 to around $4.29, while other Costco locations can even go up to $4.55. If you're in the area or don't mind taking a little drive, I definitely recommend coming here. The service is great, the workers are always nice, and the lines move super quickly. I'd highly recommend stopping by in the evening if you want to beat the traffic and avoid the crowd. read more

Yes, having a membership with Costco pays off and the gas prices lower then other stations. We shop at both Costcos ( La Mesa & Santee ) and always find new things to try ( food wise ) and not a rush thru it type of shopping. There are food samples to try , but sometimes the parents can't control their kids with the attitude of it's free , so take as much as you can touch or I don't understand English. We were in the area when we spotted Costco gas station!! We entered the parking lot and followed the path to pump gas. Wow!! There's lots of gas pumps. There's 4 pumps in the aisle and several rows available. There was a line. The lines moved quickly. Not much wait time. Their hoses are extra long. It's very convenient when your gas tank is on the other side! ;) Overall, great place for gas! Cheaper than other places. You do have to have a membership to buy here. No frills. Well I know the Costco has been here for a few years but I think the gas station was put in while I was out of town and I was glad to hear about it because Costco always has the cheapest gas and I frequently have used their gas stations and other locations. Ever since I got back to town about a year and a half ago I've been coming to this gas station and they consistently have the most inexpensive gas prices, as much as a dollar less than some places! I always use GasBuddy to check prices in whatever town I'm in so I always check the Costco gas price before I go there and it is always the lowest around! They keep the lines moving so even if they look long when you jump on a line, it doesn't take long to get up to the pump. I haven't counted how many there are but I think there are 6 lb in each line and probably 8 or 10 different lines. And they are always full so I know I'm not the only one that prefers to go here. read more

This Costco, compared to the other Costcos is such a disaster. The Parking lot layout is bazaar, the front of the store smells like sewer, the store front is laid out to block queuing making lines weird and impossible to find the end of, the pizza area is inefficiently run making it impossible to get your pizza on time, the store is oddly laid out, they don't ask people at the ends of lines to come to new cashiers being opened, if they even open new cashier lines. My recommendation, go to Santee or Mission Valley. There's got to be something wrong with the managers at this store to have that many things going wrong. read more

Now it may be due to the fact that I come in the afternoon but I came here on a Wednesday at 6:30pm and there was no wait! I recommend driving by the gas station prior to your Costco run to see if there's a long line. That should determine if you should get Gas before or after shopping. This Costco Gas location has straight lanes when lining up and about 8 lanes with 4 gas pumps (that's probably why it moves so quickly). Trash bins are placed in between pumps and the area is usually kept clean! You definitely get a better value in gas compared to other gas stations here at Costco. I remember a while back when there were only a few select Costco locations that had a gas station. It is common knowledge that the price is always lower than the stations around the area and as such the Costco gas station will always have a long line. It is always a breath of fresh air when the newer locations improves from the last one. I have seen the vacancy or availability indicator (ala stop light indicating if the pump ahead is available via red or green figures). I liked this particular one as it offers more pumps so the line is not too bad. What else can I say than the ease of getting in and out is so much smoother. It's about time that La Mesa, CA, have a Costco Wholesale Gas Station!!!! Per the San Diego Times in December 2018, they wrote: Costco is moving ahead with plans to open a new gas station in La Mesa. The La Mesa City Council last week ratified a November approval by the city's Design Review Board for a Costco fueling facility at 8165 Fletcher Parkway. The gas station, east of Baltimore Drive, will replace an existing 40,000-square-foot commercial building formerly home to Babies R Us that will be demolished. Such great news for our community!!!! There's about 28 to 30 pumping stations!!!! It's a huge lot like any other gas station and looked like a little bit of traffic jams will happen as one tries to get in and out of the station, but as with any Costco Gas that's expected. I was leaving the Costco in La Mesa when I started watching the long haired older white man checking peoples receipts. I watched this man scrutinize this black couples receipt. He sighed as if he was annoyed he had to take their receipt. Counted all of their items and then checked off their receipt and never said thank you to them. The next couple was a white couple with kids. He glanced at their basket, didn't check the receipt, but gave it the red line as if he had checked it then folded the receipt over and drew the little girl a butterfly. Smiles, said thank you and goodbye. Next it was our turn (black couple) and I handed him our receipt. He looked it over, again counted our items, moaned and groaned like checking our items was so difficult that he said "oh god." He did not say thank you and he did not say goodbye. Obviously this man has no respect for people of the black race. I thought Costco was aligned with DEI, but this older gentleman with the long gray hair doesn't see us all equally. I wanted Costco to know that one of their employees does not believe that all people should be treated equally. I feel for him. Maybe he'll read this and understand that people are people. I work hard everyday for the money I get. He made me feel like we all steal. I've been a member of Costco since it was Price Club. I have never felt so scrutinized for absolutely no reason other than for my skin color. read more

Consistently the best price for gas available. Obviously for those of us who live, work and breathe in California, the price of gas here is ridiculously high. The gas tax alone is about a dollar, something that we can't control. We have to try to save when we can, and Costco gas is always the most inexpensive of choices, thus the long lines naturally. Strategy helps. To me it is worth the wait, although I try to go early mornings or late nights to avoid the lines. It works out well and the gas here is at least 20¢ cheaper than anywhere else in town. All our tanks fill for less than $50, since we all drive 4-5 cylinder cars. Just making the false move of filling elsewhere will cost at least $3-5 more. They pay 4% cash back with gas on the Costco Visa card which definitely helps over the long term. I like this, and I take advantage of it. We pretty much all fill up here exclusively these days to save $$. And this location isn't as bad as others, lines move very quickly here! read more

The famous "Yam Yam girl" works here! She works as a sample attendant here. Her unique jingle "yam yam yam ~" stuck in our head so my family sings this jingle all the time. Whatever she samples, she is so good at promoting and changing this jingle with each item. My family is such a big fan of hers so sometimes we just come to this location just for her! The biggest, baddest, and most sparsely populated Costco gas station ever. I talked to the contractors that built it and they said it was the biggest Costco Gas Station they've built to date. Probably the cheapest spot to get gas in La Mesa too. As long you're not here during peak hours you should be okay, but even then, the lines do move quickly as there's four pumps in every line on each side. read more

As good as it gets. Sometimes there's a line sometimes not. Two entrances. Be savvy and figure it out. The one star reviewer clearly doesn't look past the hood of her car to see there's nearly 30 pumps here. It's SO easy to figure out. Middle lanes are underutilized and everyone charges for the pump on the far right. Just drive forward. Also, have your damn cards out so we can get this chore over with. Probably the smoothest Costco gas line in San Diego. Especially since they moved the barriers further back to let traffic flow a little better. Many pumps, 4 on each side, and as long as you don't get someone who struggles with common sense, it flows. There are always attendants there to help. Prices are cheap.
