Needed to refill my propane tanks but they couldn't have anyone there until 2:00pm. That needs to be stated somewhere

I called and asked if they had propane and could fill a tank. I was told yes. I hopped in my car and arrive within 5 minutes. Upon arriVal I was told he was alone - Definitely not recommend! read more

Best place to get your propane tanks filled. If they're busy, you may have to wait a little bit...but they're very attentive and the price is right. read more

A kid came in to ask if they could turn on the air cause his car was flat. Dude at the counter replied "Did you buy gas?" What a jackass..like people aren't pissed enough about gas prices these days...Lived in the area for 20 years..Emerald just lost my business.. read more

Rented a uhaul truck from this place last week. Made a reservation, filled out all the info including taking a new picture, uploading the front and back of my drivers license, and uploading my car insurance policy. Came in to get the truck, had to do all of it over again and the cashier had a huge attitude when told we had already done all this. Ok the guy is a jerk, didn't expect much from a gas station worker. We put 4 miles on the truck and had it less than 2 hours. The jerk cashier says we owe him $20 for gas. $5 per mile on top of the fee? What a crook. Never going back here. read more

Amazing! Seven years on yelp and my review was removed because I suggested a nearby competitor (who I named) had not only cheaper propane, but better service without the hassle that several reviewers had experienced. Thank you for that, as it gives me a chance to rewrite my review. I have been there several times in the last few months and the price of gas is ok, but not great, but the service is consistently unfriendly. They act as if they are doing me a favor selling me gas. As for the propane, go through my reviews and you'll figure out where to buy it, or send me a message. read more

Emerald Oil - Pumping Gas - Gas Stations Near Me - La Mesa, California

Well stocked, clean, organized. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable if you have a question. A++ Great wine recommendations!

I always try to patronize local, independent businesses rather than a big chain and this place is no exception. Usually it's a father/son duo that runs the place and they are always pretty friendly. If you buy gas, they always offer you something for free, usually a banana but I've also been given an apple, cookies, orange. And if you spend $40 on gas, they give you a free cold bottle of water. Their gas prices are pretty competitive (use cash though) and i like that they have a little book shelf outside where you can take a book for free or donate a book. read more

Sometimes the only thing better than cheap gas is free stuff. They have a deal here to get a free water bottle or soda with a $40 gas purchase. I also received a free banana. Reliable, friendly, effective. This is now my favorite gas station. read more

They do not refill propane tanks because they 'only have one person on duty'. Yesterday. AND Today when we went back. Same message. I'm sure tomorrow it will be the same again. They do not refill propane tanks. Other shops will close the door, fill the tank, open the door and ring up the bill. Not Emerald. 'Sorry.' That's what we heard yesterday and today. read more

One of the cheapest stations in the area--IF you pay cash. It's about 10cents/gal more if you use your credit card and 50cents charge if you use your debit card. Still, $3.69 today when most other places are $3.75 to $4/gal. I usually just go to the ARCO near my house. My H comes here all the time. He said you get a free pop or bottle of water if you spend over $40. read more

Great family owned business in the neighborhood, we're able to fill my propane last minute.

Best place to rent a Uhaul truck & the Gas prices are extremely low compared to other gas stations in the area! This location made my experience very pleasant, David respected my time and made it as easy and as fast as possible to pick up my uhaul for my move this weekend! Thanks again I appreciate the quick pick up and return process! read more

I'm blown away with the reviews I am reading. The staff here are beyond helpful, kind & informative. In a world full of "serve me now or else I'll leave a bad review" consumers, let's be kind to this hard working facility. They always have uhaul's available, have a great assortment & variety of snacks & their location is super convenient (so yes, it can get busy- so be patient). I will absolutely continue to give my business to this business! read more

5 star service! Quick and convenient propane refill. Henry was great and his customer service was awesome!

THEY GIVE FREE BANANAS!!! I don't come here because its fancy (I mean its a gas station), I come because I try to support local independent businesses when I can. but the reason why 5 stars is because I love bananas and usually stop by this gas station after running Lake Murray so its kind of nice. read more

This place is all about the fees. They advertise a supposedly cheaper price, if you pay cash and they have actually updated the signs/pumps. There's never any consistency. When I've come here they've often had lower prices on the signs than what're paying at the pump. Maybe they are hoping no one recognizes this, I think it's dishonest. They charge a higher fee for credit cards, which I think is stupid, but whatever. So you say, that's ok, I'll just use a debit card? Nope, there's another fee for that. It's nominal, but it all just looks so nickel and dime. I end up paying the same at the Shell by my house and at least I know there's some internal regulation on the quality of gas over there. read more

I fill gas every week because of the good location, excellent customer service, and the price is always lower than other gas station! P.s they always give you free items when you purchase with $40. read more

Don't bother doing a propane refill here for $4.59 a gallon!!! $ 18.00 for a refill !!!! Better off doing a propane exchange elsewhere. San Diego average is no more than $3.00 a gallon. read more

I cannot believe this place, news talks about gas going up and they run out and raise there prices. Then they have a sign support your local gas station, how about you support us. Every station around them are cheaper. Very upset about there sign support us, take it down. read more

This is my go to gas station. I highly recommend getting your gas tank filled here if it is convenient to do so. The prices are always lower than most gas stations and if you pump more than $30 they give you a free cup of coffee or a free can of soda, but only if you ask and I always make sure not to forget. They charge 50 cents for debit and credit purchase so bring cash! read more

The classic go-to gas station for Lake Murray residents. Good pricing, staff and area. No this isn't a fake review. Just have lived here for over 20 years. read more

This place is the bomb diggity when it comes to gas stations, About a year and a half ago when gas prices were just crackin 3 bucks, Emerald dropped its prices down to 1.99 a gallon! The guys inside are super nice, each pump takes debit, and prices are always lower than every where else! I can't wait until they decide to drop those prices again. *****UPDATE 9-6-07***** They just installed TV's at each pump and there's nothing I despise more. YOU LOSE 2 STARS read more

This gas station is a bit farther than I would normally travel with propane tanks, and is not along my usual routes. But, they had a Yelp Deal for propane, and my tank was empty. Based on the info in the Yelp deal - that I could show them the certificate on my phone, I went to the station, phone in hand. They refused to honor the deal. They wanted a printed piece of paper. So glad I drove miles out of my way. I'll be sure to never by propane or gas here. read more

these people have packaged drinking water. Sold five times more expensive than in Vons.

I used to patronize this place, because it was right up the street, and I blindly assumed it was cheaper than the two Shell stations up and down the street from it (my mistake). What I started noticing is that they really screw over the customers that care enough about their car to use 91 octane. Most gas stations price the gasoline in 10 cent increments, so the gap between regular unleaded and premium is about $.20 a gallon. I drove by the place last night (I stopped shopping there 10-12 months ago when they started hiking the prices on 91) and it was $2.59 for regular and $2.99 for premium. A 40 cent price difference for something that doesn't cost anything extra to refine? Give me a break. The Shell at the end of Lake Murray Blvd down by the 8 west onramp has better gas for less, and I know when I go to Shell that there is a nationwide standard for pump cleanliness and maintenance. The difference between "cheap" and "good" gas stations is not the actual quality of their fuel, but how they maintain their pumps and clear out mineral deposits and buildup within the pump. Pay the same amount and go to a place down the road that has to care about their reputation. read more

Probably the cheapest gas in my neck of the woods without having to drive more than 2 minutes! I use Gasbuddy to check prices and they are usually the cheapest in the 91942. Still not Costco cheap or cheap like the Arco (why do I feel like I am spelling that wrong?), but cheapest in town and where I go when I am too lazy to go anywhere else. I thought the free soda promo stopped since the sign isn't up anymore? I just spent $40 and wish they said "feel free to get a can of soda" when I went inside, but of course they wanted to save some $. Taking off a star just for that!!!!! read more

Owner reached out to me via nextdoor and offered a refund of $20. I didn't want to come by to get his $20 but one day I decided to go in and make peace and mentioned what the owner, david, had offered. Needelss to say, David then changed his mind and offered me gasoline instead. I refused and he dared to ask if I would ever come back and get gas from him again and I said no way. He refused to give me any money and walked away from me. I guess he is worst than I ever thought. Dishonest, unethical and environmentally unaware. Never going back or changing my review. read more

In July '12 I purchased a Groupon for a propane fill. Today I decided to use it. I called the establishment to make sure that there would be someone there to fill my propane cylinder. The clerk's voice sounded as if nobody was available to perform that function. Then she stated, "when are you planning on coming by?" I informed her that I would be there in an half an hour. She stated OK, there will be someone here. My drive took 41 minutes to get out there. When I got there I was informed that no one is there to fill my cylinder but I could just go ahead and exchange the tanks {with one that she already had filled}. I stated that would be fine and decided to get some fuel for my car. [ I figure I'd kill two birds with one stone]. I gave the clerk a $100.00 for the fill up and went out to my car. I started to pump the fuel and then looked at how much the gas was costing me. I had to do a double take...$0.30 more per gallon that any other gas station in the San Diego area. So much for the fill up, the pump was stopped at the $30.00 mark. I went inside the store for the last time to exchange my propane tank and get my change for the fuel. I then drove to Costco to finish the fill-up. I cannot concur with the other posts that state, that this is the cheapest station around. So [Mr. Owner] take your $2.10 profit that you made off of me, I will not be back to your business again. Mark read more

Good cheap prices and fast friendly staff to make your day zip along.

BOO Emerald Oil - at one time you WERE a good deal, now you are one of the HIGHEST in the county. So much for stressing independent gas station. For selling excess gas you are now charging what the big boys charge for their premium gas. At one time it was a good deal but not now. read more
