A pretty good 7-Eleven. I stopped in to pick a a lotto and make me an iced coffee. The don't offer it, but I just grab a large cup, fill up with ice and head over to the coffee island, and fill it up with my favorite coffee. Any rate, when I walked in, it reminded me of one of those Seinfeld episodes when Kramer walks into Jerry's apartment and everyone shouts "heeeeeey" Well, that's what I did here today and they did it back, very cool for sure. So that being said, the girls at the counter were very hip and friendly. They made great small talk and were funny. This location had a Red Box, as most 7-Eleven locations these days (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7-eleven-san-diego-41?select=7pCpnkDdVzPXEPXk1aps1w#7pCpnkDdVzPXEPXk1aps1w) and they also offer a propane tank exchange program, not like most 7-Elevens. The store was well organized, stocked, and clean. (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/7-eleven-san-diego-41?select=7pCpnkDdVzPXEPXk1aps1w#6TdFMFfeyd2ztba6sDVOTg)

My favorite 7-11 by a longshot! Just up the street from home, a very well-stocked store and always have at least 6 types of coffee brewed here! My favorite one is the Brazilian dark roast- very tasty! They also have cool creamers to add in- like caramel macchiato, chocolate macadamia, Irish cream, hazelnut and even Almond Joy! I've never found so many flavors at any other 7-11.. Fridges are nice and cold for that after work beer, and they always have a couple craft beer 6-packs for that late night run when no where else is open. There's a gas station here as well, although the prices are at least 10-20 cents higher than most places. But sometimes you're willing to pay for that convenience just to get it done in one stop. Employees seem friendly here too. My preferred 7-11 in town for sure!

Both were amazing, I've never had a vegan concha and don't think I'll be going back to regular ones! They also have breakfast sandwiches that many people ordered that looks like it's on a thick piece of focaccia. The reviews speak for itself! I had barely had a chance to have lunch so was really happy to randomly see a coffee shop to grab a cold coffee on a hot day to bring with me to my hair appointment. Parking was easy and I walked into the coffee shop. There was no wait at all at that time. I browsed the menu and decided on an iced Simple Special which was basically an iced mint latte. I ordered it with nonfat milk I waited for only a couple of minutes for my drink to be made. During that time I saw that they were playing records and had several records for sale. That was really cool. If I lived in the area I would definitely hang out and listen to records while sipping on coffee. The reason for only 4 stars.... my charge was abut $8 which felt a bit stiff for only the 16 oz drink. It made me wary of what a 20 oz would cost. All in all, I had a good experience at The Simple Coffee House. My drink had good flavor without being overly sweet. I liked the records and the vibe at the coffeehouse.

It can get pretty busy so come early to prep. Seating: Chill plenty of seating both inside and outside. Good for small groups with room for about 30 people. Vibes: Welcome to Normal Heights nothing too flashy, just plenty of local eateries and businesses. The spot itself is relatively clean, modern, pretentious. I dig the 90s house music in the background. This seems to be a trusted neighborly coffee shop with students are working, friends are catching up, and regulars seem to know the staff by name. It helps there's a pizza shop next door as well. FOOD / DRINKS Cherie Amour (Recommend) Delish. A latte with housemade cherry and almond syrup, and if you get it iced, it comes topped with a little cold foam. I dig the sweetness and the fruitiness of the cherry, it balanced out the bitterness of the coffee which was pretty cool. CUSTOMER SERVICE Friendly and welcoming. Sara helped contribute to the neighborhood feel of the place and made the experience easy and enjoyable. TL;DR OVERALL 4.5 Stars. Good coffee, reasonable prices, and a pleasant atmosphere. I know there are plenty of coffeeshops in SD but this is a cool neighborly one. It doesnt seem like a trendy place but a place more in community and steady service. Till next time, Scrimshaw! It's a cute colorful little shop. The girl working was very friendly. I saw the board outside after she reminded me of the specials and decided to try the iced chocolate banana latte. This is not something I would normally try but it sounded good. I'm more of a coffee purist generally. The girl told me all about it and talked it up so I was looking forward to trying it. She said the banana was a strong flavor, which is OK cause I like banana. She made my drink and I paid and was on my way. As I was walking back to my car, I took a sip. I'm not sure what happened, but there was zero banana flavor. It was just chocolate. I don't know if she ran out of banana or what happened but had I known I would've ordered something different. Quite disappointing actually. Since I'm in the area every few months and it has a five star reputation I will come back and try something else on a different day but today was not my day for getting a good drink.
