We were thinking this was a steakhouse. It was not. Fairly pedestrian menu; however, they have a nice beer list and can make a good Manhattan. Even though we arrived before dinner time it seemed that the waitresses were gathered in the corner chatting while while seemingly waiting for something to do. I guess they didn't notice my empty glass at the end of the table. I'll give it a thumbs up for their Bourbon St., New York style chicken wings. Absolutely tasty and delicious. Was not a fan of their white chili. Our carnivore style thin crust pizza was a little bit more crispy than we would normally like. We eat at Archer's fairly often and usually have a good meal and service. We ate there last night and the service was awesome again. For the first time I decided to try the gourmet grilled cheese. I was thinking of comfort food on a cold Ohio winter night. What I got was nice crispy bread. So far so good. Then I bit into it and thought, where is the cheese? I opened it and I saw a skimpy amount of yellow and white cheese. We asked the server if I had gotten the kid grilled cheese instead of the gourmet. Nope. Except for the bread it was awful and tasteless. Gourmet?? My husband makes a better grilled cheese than that. We both also ordered the harvest vegetables of sweet potatoes, corn and green beans. Sounds yummy, right? It was spicy and downright horrible. The waiter rushed an order of sweet potato fries for us. They were so good, unlike the grilled cheese and harvest vegetables. In the last few months we have a list of items at Archer's of food not to order, including the tacos. What gives, Archer's? We have been disappointed several times now. Long time customer that will never be back. A slow Sunday night where the bartender served a guy at the bar multiple shots and multiple beers. He became belligerent. Tried to fight me and the staff and was abusive. The manager, Cassidy, came out and got into my face after the customer left. Not a safe place. Always like to try new places when I travel. Will never stop at a restaurant that I have at home. Was very excited to try Archers with some local relatives. The atmosphere and the restaurant was very casual and nice. The restaurant was decorated very cute. The staff was helpful with their suggestions as to what to order. I ordered the southwest power bowl on cilantro rice. It was really tasty. The only thing I would've done differently is instead of all the sour cream to have put maybe guacamole or their special sauce on it instead. My Husband ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with french fries and he said that was really tasty. I guess we were so hungry as I forgot to take pictures. We tried this restaurant for lunch. I ordered the flatbread pizza with pineapple, ham, etc. it was very different and frankly that's why I ordered it! Pretty quiet environment it seems after 10 PM but it is the Kettering area. Start with service I walked in and no one was at the front and I only Went for a late night dinner around 10pm once they did notice me they asked me if it was for a carry out order in that case it was so for service I say mid. Ambient environment definitely fits a tavern so pretty nice definitely clean for sure. And was happy they accept military fire responder discount. What time does the kitchen simply close? You know I gotta say, I've been a huge fan of Archers in Centerville and Stonehouse Tavern in Waynesville, and this one is a travesty in comparison to those locations. I visited while back home and first off, the mules are disgusting, they put way too much mint in my drink (mint isn't even an ingredient they say they put on the menu, mules typically don't have mint). When I complain, the bartender sends it back saying that's how they make them. Okay well how you make them is gross and not a mule, it's a mojito, and a bad one at that. Our appetizers took about 30 minutes and the food took about an hour. We had two waiters, one of which overshared halfway through ordering our food that he wasn't our waiter. The second one was nice and doing her best but also had the habit of oversharing that the cooks were being too slow. My buddy waited an extra 15 minutes for his cheesesteak and instead got a burger, which our waitress let us know that part was her fault. Food was also not even hot when we got it nor was it great. One decent thing to keep it from 1 star is the Archers aesthetic is fine and the ambience is always comfy. But other than that this location has a lot to fix.. Overall I may seem like I'm being a critic but this is coming from someone who grew up eating at Archers and loving it (their bbq chicken pizza is one of my favorite meals in general, which they took off the menu). The staff is unprofessional and the cooks have got to fix their issues. Probably will never come back to this one. Take it or leave it. read more

The WORST Rubin sandwich I have ever had in my life. Really suffered for it later that evening Bread sucked not sure it was even a rye bread, very little sourcrout but worst of all was the meat. Just because the health department says you can hold food for 7 days doesnt mean you should. The old meat turned my stomach later that day to put it nicely. If you cant make something right DONT DO IT ! When I told the rather loud obnoxious waitress how bad my sandwich was she snickered. Typical sports bar with multiple TVs blaring and walls reflecting all of the noise. I wanted a good corned beef on rye sandwich, but had to order a rueben without anything but the meat. To say the amount of meat was skimpy is being generous. And the sandwich was greasy. For a place with more than 20 beers on draft, the only dark beer I could get was Guinness in a can. I've been to this location 4 times over the past 2 years. Burger quality has significantly declined. I ordered the Black and Bleu burger last night. The patty was small, not even an eighth of a pound, just the puniest little thing, and the burger was beyond well done (not that they asked how I wanted it cooked). Burgers are supposed to come with fries, and I added a salad. My salad came out at the same time as my burger and I got no fries. When I asked about the fries, I was chided by the waiter. He put an order in for fries, and they came out undercooked. The wings, however, were dynamite. I doubt I'll come here again, but if I'm dragged by family, I'll just order the wings. Let me start by saying our server today was fantastic. He was Friendly and prompt and we never had to ask for a refill, he even took time to offer suggestions. As for the food it's hit or miss, lately more miss. We went today and my wife ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with mayonnaise on the side and the cheese sauce and I ordered fish and chips. I was going to order the fish sandwich but they were out of the fish. It was a different server with a Mohawk who brought our orders to the table and basically threw them down and left before we could say anything. There was no mayonnaise on the side and no cheese sauce, the Cheesesteak was void of flavor, almost as if salt and pepper don't exist. The tomatoes were pale and unripe and the sweet potato fries were burnt. As for my fish and chips, it was an abysmal excuse for $13.00 and change. If I didn't know better I'd say they went to the Kroger across the street and purchased frozen fish sticks. The French fries were half soggy and greasy and half burned to a charred finish and the coleslaw is just vinegar and bagged slaw mix not sure what the appeal is. read more

In town for a soccer tournament, we had a party of 15. We finished late on Saturday, I called ahead, and they said they could split us up - the kids got a big booth and the 9 parents were able to sit together. Only had to wait about 10 minutes. The manager and staff were fantastic and very accommodating. Great beer selection, with some local favorites on tap. We picked the place because of the variety on their menu- they had something for everyone and every dietary need. Everyone loved their apps and meals. 2 warnings- if you order something spicy, they bring the heat!!!! Whether it's wings, tacos or pizza toppings- be prepared. My recent experience forces me to downgrade my previous review. First, they lost our reservation. This group eats together monthly and the same guy always calls in our reservation. I'm positive he did this time. They squeezed us in to a space too small for our party and the waitress refused to walk around, preferring to hand things to the end of the table and make us pass them down. My coffee was cold...not just warm, it was actually room temperature. The burgers all seemed like they'd been precooked. They weren't hot, and they were all chewy. 5 of us ordered burgers and a variety of sides...all 5 instead came with fries. When we pointed out the error the waitress rolled her eyes. We eventually received the correct sides. We were given our checks without being asked if we wanted dessert or anything else. We pick a locally owned restaurant to eat in together monthly. Food was gross. I got grilled cheese and French onion soup. The cheese was clumpy and French onion soup just isn't something most places make very well. The service was poor. Makayla seems new, did not get appetizer plates or napkins. I asked the host and she brought them. My friend got a chicken sandwich and said the chicken was dry. I was in Dayton on work for this week and came here for lunch one day. Did it take out mahi mahi with a side salad, and I was thoroughly impressed. Most places that specialize in pub fare do a very bad job with a grilled fish, and when blackening the fish they often over season it and over dress it with butter to camouflage the fact that it was a frozen piece. While I'm sure this piece was frozen, they cooked perfectly. They delivered it over a bed of really well seasoned rice and stuck it with fresh seasonal vegetables. Topped with a fresh Chipotle crema sauce that actually improved the flavor without just adding a greasiness and I was really blown away are there preparation. My friend with me got himself a reuben and onion rings, neither of which you complained about, but neither of which made him quite as happy as the fish I had. Great service 5/5: we were seated quickly, there was very fast delivery of food, with attentive servers (more than one) who checked in every 5 mins. We felt very well taken care of. Food was 3/5: had the white chili chicken. It was very cheesy with a nice kick of spice. The chicken seemed more like canned (at least the texture). Flavor was good, but texture was overall dry. French fries were overly fried (some very dark brown and burnt) but also seemed soggy, which was weird. I'd go back to try something else here. The restaurant is kept very clean! read more

Lovely visit to Archer's Tavern yesterday. Restaurant is decently large with a wide variety of seating options including lots of tables and booths lining the walls. Each one of the booth seats has a closeable window blind for those with light sensitivities (or just when its too damn sunny outside). PROS: -Service is absolutely fantastic. She checked in on us constantly, our drinks were regularly refilled, and we didn't really "wait" for much. She run up our order in the cheapest way possible (I wanted some customizations), and she was super friendly. Fantastic service. -Pretzels are SO good. I can't speak for any of their "deep-fried" pretzels on their menu, but their warmed, baked pretzels are super delicious. The beer cheese is amazing too! It has a noticeable texture to it, and just a bit of pepper taste to it as well. It's really a fantastic beer cheese, and it puts their nacho cheese to shame in comparison. Really enjoyed the pretzels and beer cheese. -Tablemate loved their wings too. Was surprised when the waitress said he could have as many sauces as he wanted with his order. He only ordered two, but still, it's definitely a welcome change from most wing limitations. He enjoyed the wings and said they were pretty darn good. -Great beer menu. Quite a few local beer options on draft, and they have the "usual suspects" in bottles and cans for serving as well. They also have a decently-large wine menu. -Restaurant itself is very beautiful. It has a dark, deep color design with lots of wood around. It's very pretty and very "tavern"-y. Menus are cute paper "newspapers" with the restaurant's story in addition to the full menu printed on the inside. Restaurant menu matched the menu that we saw on the website, too. Went to Archer's in Kettering nite before last and was completely disappointed. I ordered a steak with green beans and onion rings. No salad was offered with the meal. Ordered the steak medium rare, it came medium well, sent it back and it came back more rare than medium but I ate it anyway. The food was ok but too pricey for what it was. And the service was ok, also, I was just disappointed about the lack of variety and that they don't serve complete meals which should include salad or soup. read more

Stopped in for lunch today. The place. Was jammed packed but had a good crowd, 60-70% full. I was seated quickly and my drink order arrived promptly. I order the chefs soup of the day, tomato basil and it was delicious. Thick with chunks of tomato, croutons and a sprinkle of Parmesan. One of the best versions I've had. My second selection was the garden salad and again, excellent. Plenty of dense green, chopped egg, tomato and a very filling treat. I chose the blueberry vinegarette which was fine combo of sweet and tart. All in all, a very great lunch with fine and fast service. I will definitely return. read more
