Spent $10 and it was $10 well spent. Went down to West Kendall with my dear Edwin P. Figured I'd check out one of my thousands of bookmarks. Not to mention that we had visited another arcade recently and wanted to compare. Turns out I love this one much more. There are so many games. You can play classics like Centipede and Pac-Man and even newer games like Dragonball Z and Street Fighter ones. Oh, and among the games as well are Mario Kart, The Simpsons, and even Dance Dance Revolution. Did I mention Sonic the Hedgehog? Truly there's something out there for everyone. Most games are two tokens. Some are one and very few are four. Regardless of the amount, I found the prices to be quite reasonable. 33 tokens for $10 and an hour of fun, sign me up! I recommend this place highly for anyone who wants to try something different. You don't have to be a gamer to enjoy yourself, you just have to have an open mind. Be aware that they don't sell food. Unless snacks are food for you. They have pocky, pandas, and even some Japanese sodas available. No alcohol sold though. If you want something more of substance, eat beforehand or go eat somewhere in the plaza. There are at least two places to eat in the plaza that this gem is located at. Oh, and you don't have to use all your tokens at once. If you have some left over, keep them in a bag and use them next time. I saw plenty of folks doing that. read more

Wonderful spot, amazing atmosphere, captured the old school arcade feel I haven't had for some time. They also had a number of rare arcade cabinets and a number of Japanese Sega cabinets. I was impressed by the simple and tasty food along with the massive craft beer selection they had. I didn't like the weird exchange rate they had where I lose a quarter for every dollar I popped in but that was no big deal. I'd recommend this place for any young folks who enjoy arcade games. read more

I love this place because it's close to my house, affordable, and so much fun. They have some snacks, bobba teas, and my favorite ever: A good selection of nigori sake. Please try their flavored nigoris. The pineapple was the best in my opinion. They also have a nice selection of beers and ciders. I spent most of my time at the Rick and Morty Pinball machine, a really addicting game called "Tapper", and the air hockey table. A real bonafide arcade! There are plenty of "arcades" at places like hotel resorts and bowling alley but these are usually filled with games like Doodle Jump and random games that give you candy. This is the real deal - you've got Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Dance Dance Revolution, Pinball, and some you can't find anywhere else. The games in here are changing all the time, but the best and popular stuff is always what sticks around. They also hold tournaments every week. The place works by putting a certain amount of money into a machine and having it exchanged for tokens; I personally enjoy this experience more than having credits assigned to a plastic card. From there on, browse around and choose what you're in the mood to play. Buying $10 in tokens is usually more than enough to make me feel like I've got my fill. The place is great for groups or even by yourself. It's always really clean and all the staff members are incredibly friendly. There's even a bar, but I can't say much about it since I've never tried it but it looks nice! Here's hoping this local arcade continues to thrive and grow. We need more stuff like this. read more

This is a pretty cool place. They have classic video games like Pac-man, Qbert, Galaganand centipede. They have a full wall of pinball machines. The cost to play is usually between 1 and 3 tokens for most and you can get a higher number of tokens for $20. There is music over speakers and some great movie memorabilia throughout. They even have computer systems for people to rent time to play MMOs. They do serve adult beverages and non-alcoholic drinks. I took a few pictures of the options. The staff was around but no one greets you or really interacts with you unless you need them. read more

I've been going here for a fun classic arcade for quite awhile now. All the games are extremely fun and engaging, the place is always lively and clean, and the food and drinks are decent! I will say the bubble tea and flavoring could be a bit better, but for what you go there for it's good. This is such a cool place to chill, relax, and play some new/old/vintage arcade games. There are two rooms were the games are held, one has more vintage games (Street Fighter, Pinball, Pong, Qbert) and the other has more modern and involved games (Guitar Hero, Dance Dance, shooting games). The games are pretty reasonably priced (in terms of tokens) and a lot of fun to play. My boyfriend and I went on a Saturday night at around 8ish and although there was a good amount of people, we never had to wait for any of the games. From what we were told, the games are always changing, so I'm excited to come back soon since we have left over tokens. There's a machine that exchanges your money for tokens so it's a quick do-it-yourself thing. There's also someone at the counter in case you need any help. I tried using the "Yelp" token discount, but apparently it's already applied to the prices listed. The second room has a bar area with local craft beers and Japanese snacks and drinks. read more

Love this place. I live nearby and I had never been here before. As soon as I walked in I was transported back to my childhood. As soon as you walk in just like the old arcades back in the day it was dark and all you can see are the lights from the game units and the loud sounds of all the games. Music to my ears. Went on a random Monday. Wasn't really full just a few people there. Walked up to get some tokens and was approached my an employee. He talked to me about the tokens and if you pay more you get more for your money. He then told me about the bar. Walked over to the bar and wow. So many local breweries on tap and can/bottle. I was very impressed with the selection. It was pretty amazing. Ended up getting Lauderhills Hefeweizen. It was delicious! Played all the classic games which included donkey Kong and lots of pin ball machines. Will come back with the kiddos. I hope this place stays open forever!!!! read more

Arcades are dead in America, but with a place like this , perhaps resurrection isn't far off? I started playing video games on the NES as little kid in the late 80s. However with my exposure to the legendary Street Fighter 2 on SNES, I started visiting local arcades to play that and new fighters that started emerging. Arcade Odyssey is located on a plaza with a pizza joint and other restaurants. When you go in, you're treated to a lot of arcade coin ops. They have a mix of fighting games, beat em ups, puzzle games, and some Japanese I had never seen before. Best thing about this place? All the joysticks and buttons WORK! One of the reasons arcades died out is that arcade operators in many places would NEVER fix damaged or broken equipment! For stuff like Street Fighter, that is essential since the moves are more elaborate and need split second timing which can mean the difference in you winning and staying or losing and paying. Some of the games that were there when I last visited: Street Fighter 3: 3rd strike Capcom Vs SNK 2 Tekken Tag 2 Unlimited(I had never seen this in an American arcade before. My first exposure to it was in 2012 on Xbox 360) X-men (1992) Arcana Heart 3 A side scrolling Mega Man game There is a lcd tv station with Nintendo console with certain games (IIRc one of the Smash Bros games). They sell snacks(Chips/candy) and sodas which is nice. The only real negatives is that its a bit crowded but who cares? I was staying in Homestead with relatives near Krome/248th street and it took me 20 or minutes to get here. It may be a bit far for some other Miami peeps. Overall: Probably the best arcade experience Ive had since Gameworks in Schaumberg 5-6 years ago! read more

For all the kids reading this, Arcade Odyssey hosts tournaments almost every month, sometimes it is for Mario Kart, sometimes Brawl, sometimes an Xbox shooter or whatever. That is a constant at Arcade Odyssey, and I remember as far back as 2012 (?), having tournaments for Guitar Hero, on a projector screen outdoors. It was fun to watch, even if I never played. I come here to spend my money on pinball machines. I come with either friends or family, as I like people to play pinball machines, it's a vintage gaming thing. I like pinball because 1) you never win and 2) it's never over. Yeah, pinball resembles life pretty accurately. My favorite pinball machines are the AC/DC one, the Monster Bash, Tron, Tales from the Crypt, etc. I leave here with sore index fingers. Of course, there are many regular 8-bit arcade machines, like Donkey Kong, Pac Man, and then things like Rampage, Mortal Kombat, etc. There are also racing games, shooting games, etc., some more modern games and also dancing games. Just a fair heads up, this place is packed, but I mean, packed with machines. There is also a couple of Air Hockey tables, so not only packed but something for everyone. The big plus for this location also, is that there is a pizza place next door, and a beer and wing place on the other side. There is also a smoothie place in this shopping strip, and no, no Starbucks. Sorry. A lot of younger people come here, so this place is definitively not an "old fart", "I'm back from the 80's" heaven/hell... but if you were around arcades in the 80's, there are no pre-teens, and this place is not run by an old bearded guy with a dubious police record, no way, this place is clean and up to date. So, there you have it. Come and have fun at the ONLY real Arcade in Florida. Nothing in the state touches this place. Nothing. read more

When I first saw the sign "Arcade Odyssey" months before it officially opened I didn't know what to think! Was it going to be another one of those lame places that didn't have actual aracade machines? Or worse yet, maybe one of those BS questionably legal gambling joints passing itself off as an arcade? When it finally did open, I was in shock. A REAL arcade, with real tokens?! But would there be pinball? In fact, yes, there was. A little bit. It's a great place, but needed more pins. I'm happy to say that my request has been answered! In a joint effort between The Pinball Palace (www.yelp.com/biz/the-pinball-palace-miami) and Arcade Odyssey, more machines have been added! The lineup is scheduled to change every few months but currently you can play Terminator 2 & 3, South Park, and Ripley's Believe it or Not And according to the owner, more could be on the way if these do well. So drop your console controller and go play a real 3D game. read more

The location is nice however it is a bit small considering it does get more packed than I originally anticipated. We visited this location and played some old classics that brought us back to our childhood like Pacman. I would definitely recommend visiting this location to play the pinballs as they had over 10 machines to choose from that were all entertaining to play. read more

Is there such thing as an artisan arcade? Apparently, yes. I'm not a gamer. And, I fight to suppress my hipster inclinations. And, yet, I LOVED this place. It's not so much about the retro feel (although the whole set up screams 80's era, independent arcade). Rather, it's much more about a pure experience - escapism without an ulterior motive. The only warning I offer about this place: it is best enjoyed in a small group. Total of 2 or 3 people tops. And it's kind of like a movie, in that you won't be able to hold a conversation. More than a couple of people and you'll be crowded, & won't be able to enjoy it together. Here are the strengths: 1. Small enough to not be overwhelming, esp for a kid. 2. TOKENS! Yes, tokens are a thing of the past, but, I found they are actually better to gauge time & games you have left. Kids grasp the concept of 2 coins per game (for example) better than 15.5 credits (like at Gameworks). The place provides a plastic sandwhich bag to hold the tokens (super helpful - smart move, management). The Yelp coupon doesn't help, bc they have adopted the deal as the standard, incentive discount for converting $20. But, you get soooo much play time out of $20, it's totally worth exchanging a full $20. Also, tokens hold a discernable value if you can't use them all in one visit. A Gameworks card is more convenient to carry, but I don't know if there is a way to check how many credits it has on it. Also, with a card, Gameworks (or whatever establishment) can have the credits expire, or, can change the credit cost of games. You kind of don't know what it's worth. Tokens are forever!! 3. What do I mean when I say a "pure experience"? You come to Arcade Odessey to play games. That's it. There is no pop music playing in the background (which somehow disrupts the white noise of arcade sounds). There is no attempt to sell overpriced junk food & tie it in as "a fun experience". There is no convoluted ticket-per-win system that bribes kids to spend more money with the unrealistic promise of earning a prize & taking home junk toys. There is no bar w giant TVs playing sports or gambling tables. And there are no parents walking around holding a glass of beer half-chasing their kids, struggling to simultaneously balance parental awareness in an overstimulated environment AND sneak in a quick break from parenthood. Arcade Odessey provides an immersive, focused environment that offers games for the sake of games. You lose track of time, but you don't feel tortured or anxious about not knowing when it ends. 4. Variety! Guys...pinball machineS. With an "S"! A full row of pinball machines. Did you know that apparently they still produce updated pinball machines? There's a Game of Thrones pinball machine! Can't be a retrofitted old machine. This place managed to get new-ish games & old. Physical games like the dance challenges, shooting games, sit-down driving games, & the sturdiest air hockey table of my dreams. The only joy of leaving this place is re-entering the regular world, unaware of what time it is, being blinded by the sunlight, knowing you had more fun & spent less money than sitting through a mediocre kids' movie. Hoo boy... On principle, I'm inclined to love any arcade. They are the last guardians of a dying age. But Arcade Odyssey isn't all that special. There are just a handful of classic games, and a ton of weird Japanese imports - some with nary an English word anywhere on them. I did enjoy tapping away on the cool X-Men game (although my brother frequently had to insert two tokens instead of the required one when using Nightcrawler). Time Crisis 3 was also cool. They even have a weird game where you have to punch these red paddles that flip out at your face. How do you play it? We're still not sure. Not much English on that one. There's an air hockey table, but it has a lot of dead spots where the puck doesn't float. There was also someone narrating something over a very loud speaker, but I have no idea where the man with the microphone was, or what the hell he was describing. Something about a computer server. Did I really need to hear that blaring while I'm playing games? There are several desktop computers available (not sure why) and an area that appears to be set up for console games. But there wasn't any signage or anything. I could have asked, I guess. I wanted to fall in love with Arcade Odyssey, but I'm not sure it merits a second date. [Edit: The owner informs me that they change their games based on customer input, so that's pretty awesome. Arcade owners are doing God's work, so I wish Arcade Odyssey well.] read more

They have a great selection of rhythm games if you are into that, and have a selection of Japanese exclusives which include said rhythm games. they even have drinks and pinball! Step back into the 90s the moment you walk in! So many games from my teen years! This really took me back in time-- from Street Fighter to Donkey Kong to pinball machines. Duck Hunt, Mario Cart, Pac Man, and the wave runner game were a few others I got to play as well. My husband and I were talking about how our kids will never know the fun or thrill of an arcade at the mall. By curiosity I decided to Yelp arcades and came across this new favorite spot. We took our kids and they had a blast playing "old" games -- a nice change from Roblox or Minecraft. We'll definitely be back. Perhaps on a date night, without the kids, so I could challenge the hubby to a game of street fighter and then air hockey. So the first time I got here I actually just waited a few minutes in the parking lot and decided not to go in because I wasn't sure if I would look like a sexual predator wanting little Suzy or Johnny more than playing pinball. I'm happy to report that all ages are welcome and us 50 somethings won't look creepy in there. The place is screaming fun. My only minor issue that I had 3 machines with problems...they should be keeping up with it. Pinball selection is modern with only one older machine which happens to be one of my favourites Revenge From Mars. If you love House of the Dead, this place is going to make you very happy. There are all sorts of old school was well as newer machines. I was finally able to play the new Pong from Atari, they have it! They also have air hockey. I loved the signs on the bathroom. With a groupon deal this place turns into a real party. Most machines range from 1-4 tokens with the majority at about 1-2 for arcade games and 3 for pinballs. They have alcohol in there and they are open late. On weekends things can get interesting until their closing time at 2am. A chill environment, great games, reasonable costs, and the perfect complement of beverages so that it's enjoyable by adults and kids alike. The craft beer selection is legit, not just lip service to the idea of craft beer, but actual craft beer curated with care and thought. The decor is mostly awesome and intelligent. The use of the logo with a nude anime character is the one detracting feature that went a bit too far, but everything else is great. My favorite piece is a Woody seating on a bomb, perfectly clever homage to my favorite film, Doctor Strangelove. Cool little (well, not so little anymore) spot for a date night or chill Friday night with friends. They have a ton of the classics that I hadn't seen in ages. Most games are super reasonably priced. I personally enjoy going late night, although it can get a little packed on the weekend. They were closed for a little while for a renovation and expansion. You can now order food inside the venue instead of going to another place in the strip mall before/after your visit. Super smart and pretty convenient. Despite the crowds, parking is usually not an issue. Same with getting in a good variety of games, even during peak hours. The regulars here seem to be great at auto-regulating their hoarding, and even if you have to wait a bit you can usually get on almost any game on a given night. Definitely a younger crowd, but calm for the most part -- and when their curfews roll around you can feel the place start to empty out and the real fun begins read more
