My husband and I stopped in as our kid was down the road and we wanted to wait for them somewhere we could have a few beers, watch some college football and have something to munch on. Hammocks Grill was the first place that popped up. When we walked it there was plenty of space at the bar for us to sit. Our bartender was quick to get us some cold brews in front of us. First time trying this place, which was recommended by my sister. Walking in I noticed smoke in the air, which my sister said was due to their grilling and looked to me like poor ventilation and when leaving, you smell like you've been grilling your own food. We ordered the grilled wings and fries with the cheese and chili on the side. The wings were grilled and perfectly seasoned with a slight char. The fries were soft and some were crispy with potato skin, which I really enjoyed after drizzling some chili and cheese on top. As we waited inside though, the waiter made sure to check on us to see if we needed anything. Overall it's a pretty good place. Just wish it wasn't so smoky inside, but then again, there were a good amount of people there that didn't seem to mind it. As soon as I walked in I couldn't help but think to myself Hammocks Grill has to have some affiliation with Sports Grill and boy was I right. They parted ways with Sports Grill years ago and are claiming their wings are that much better than Sports Grill and I can't deny that. Their wings are delicious and flavorful. I could see this being a great after baseball or football game for the kids and their families with the long tables, tvs, high tops. Having been here since 1993 tells you they know a thing or two about wings. Special Grilled is the only way to go (IMO) and will continue coming back for those alone. It's dipped in their home made buffalo sauce and then grilled and washed with worchestershire giving them the perfect amount of spice and char. If you are looking for something with more heat you have to try the Miami Heat that is packing with cayenne, jalapenos, crushed red peppers tossed with their scott bonnet sauce. Their only downside is they are beer and wine only but then again name a better combo than wings and beer. read more

Holy cow has this changed. Back in the day when it was sports grill it was awesome. We get here at 11:30. It a soul inside. We're talking like the Hispanics we are with voice elevated and hands flailing. The only customers remember. The waitress comes over and says you can't get loud in here. This is a sports bar!!!!! This place has been in Kendall for years, formally Sports Grill, Hammocks grill brings in the same flavor and affordability as it's ancestors. Not sure why it has 3.5 stars but if people expect to get five star service at a sports bar, don't expect it. Food is great! You can never go wrong with the wings. They have a good beer selection and TVs for game watching and sport events. Menu has not only wings but everything in between like burgers and sandwiches. They also have a good selection for kids with the norms like hotdog, wings, grilled cheese, burger and of course: chicken tenders and fries ! Overall my experience with the food here is always good, although service can improve a little, it's not horrible. This used to be Sports Grill - Hammocks location. They recently just changed their name to Hammocks Grill. Still the same menu and same great food. I really enjoy this place. But mostly I really enjoy the food here. I usually order the Special Grilled chicken wings. But tonight (Mon) I saw that they have a Rib special. This is only on Mon & Wed nights. You can get the Ribs full rack or half rack. They come in BBQ or special grilled flavor. I chose half rack, BBQ flavor. It also comes with waffle fries. The ribs were decent. However, I feel nothing beats Flanigans ribs so I base ribs off of them. Good amount of meat on the ribs and the BBQ flavor was good. The waffle fries are good, but I like their normal fries better. Been coming here for years. This is a nice neighborhood bar to go to in the Hammocks. Service is consistently good even on their busiest nights. Special Grilled Wings are my favorite and a must. Do plan on smelling like a deep fryer or just don't bother taking a shower before coming here...you will need another one! It's just way too smokey in there. That is my one and only gripe. This place makes one of the best wings everrrrrrrr in Kendall they are grilled to perfection with a spicy flavor that will have you sipping your cold beer right away. They also have other wings that are not so spicy. If your looking for a small place to watch a game this is the place (TVs everywhere). But I recommend you get there early if your going in a big group because this place gets packed. The service is great and they are quick. Also I forgot to mention there sandwiches and fries are so good yummm!!! The parking is never a problem they are located in mini shopping mall that has plenty of parking all around. I went here as it is close to the house on a recommendation, when i arrived the place is very very dark and you can't even read the menu. It is falling apart and the bathrooms are run down and haven't been maintained just as the interior will show. I don't mind spending money on food but this place is a piece of garbage. If all you care about is getting drunk and watching a game then this IS the place for you no doubt. It is not family friendly and the waitress was not very pleasant and helpful as she was too busy sitting with customers at their chairs/booth instead of working. The chicken wings that are supposed to be good where nothing but greasy and non tasty and expensive. I'm a little confused as to why this place is listed as a four star restaurant. A few coworkers and I decided to give this place a try since one of them is OBSESSED with chicken wings (she orders them whenever we go to happy hour; even if she can't find them on the menu). Let me start off by saying that from the outside, the place looks closed. Extremely dark windows make the place look shady. When I walked in it was dark inside and I couldn't see too well to find my coworkers until my eyes adjusted to the change. One of my coworkers had to use her phone as a flashlight to see the menu because it was so darn dark inside! The place doesn't look very clean; maybe that's why they have to keep the lights so dim! Our waitresses hung out at the bar talking the entire time we were there. When we were able to get the waitress' attention, We tried to order about 40 wings. I asked if 2 of us could make 2 orders of 10 only drumsticks and was told that they don't do that anymore. I told her we would pay more, whatever the fee is, because we simply don't like flappers. She said she couldn't do anything about it. We asked if we could speak to the manager because that's $20 she would loose over a simple accommodation. She said no so we said forget it. Others is the group ordered Conch Fritters which were completely burnt. Don't order them... Gross. Another person ordered the Chicken Tenders with French Fries. Chicken was good but the fries were burnt. We told the waitress and her reasoning is that they're burnt because they are freshly peeled. She gave us waffle fries instead which were okay but needed salt. The beers were a great price. This is the reason they received one star. Yuengling beer was $2.50 and only $1.25 during happy hour which starts at 4pm. They have Sangria which my coworker did not really like either. Then the time came to grab the checks. Our waitress said she could not split the bill because we didn't tell her from the beginning of our order. We told she could mark things with our initial or a number so she could know who had what. I've been to many sports bars always claiming them to be my favorite. Now I'm saying it again. This Sports grill by far has the best Dolphin Sandwich. I can't attest to the rest of the food. So I will base this review solely on the beer,fries and said sandwich. I loved it. The tartar sauce was exceptional. Different from others in that it was more mustardy then mayonnaise. The bun was soft and sweet. All the ingredients tasted fresh and paired perfectly with the tartar. The fries were perfectly seasoned and fried. I ate every single one of them. Even the tiny burnt hard pieces. As I sat in the restaurant indulging in my meal, I kept telling my husband "how is it that we've lived in this neighborhood for 13 years and have never been here". We came here on New Years Eve. Not many places were open. Luckily we found sports grill. We weren't sure if it was open because it was super dark and there's no neon lights saying it's open or anything. So I got out of the car and saw there was a handwritten paper advertising holiday hours. Thankfully it was open! We went inside and service was out of this world fast lol. This was great because I had to work in a little while. Don't get me wrong, service was fast but it was in no way sloppy. We ordered and the appetizer and food came out in under 10 minutes. We ordered the cheese fries and special grilled wings. The wings were delicious! There's unfortunately no option to get all drums from sports grill. It was a good experience. It's bar food so it's not a five star meal. However, we did get really good (better than expected) service at this location. I don't know if it was because it was getting close to their closing time and they wanted to get everyone out as soon as possible... It was well received though. read more
