Stopped by for lunch today. I found the dining room to be clean. The staff was polite and explained to me a drink sizing change they've had. The food came out quickly and was hot. A good Arby's experience.

WOW I would have never given this place a new try as it had been decades since my last visit. But, my kid said I had to try the mac and cheese and WOW was I pleasantly surprised! They use 3 real cheeses and it's so creamy ooey gooey, like home made! The wraps were a delicious surprise as well, but a little too spicy for my taste buds, but other than that, a great wrap! Seasoned curly fries were also very good and didn't even need ketchup! If you haven't been to Arby's lately, I highly suggest checking it out! Couldn't try the roast beef, but it looked pretty darn good!?

Once you've been to an Arby's you've pretty much been to them all. The only thing that makes any of them even slightly different is the cleanliness (or lack thereof) and the level of customer service (or lack thereof). The staff has always been friendly in my experience, and the food has come out pretty quickly and has always been warm. During the lunch hour, this place is generally pretty busy so you don't have to worry about food sitting under heat lamps for too long either. My only complaint, and it's really with corporate as opposed to this store, is that they offer their combos in three sizes, regular, medium, and XL. America clearly has a problem with obesity. Why contribute to it by having extra large combo meals that probably offer more than a full day of calories and fat? I guess people are expected to show some self-control.

The eating area was clean, the ladies working were so respectful and outgoing and the shop had so MANY neat things to look at. I bought a natural handmade soap and I am absolutely obsessed! I ate the BLT...it's one of my favorite sandwiches to eat and the one here did NOT disappoint! I also ordered the white mocha coffee. I will definitely be coming back!! The lunch menu has a huge variety of options, which made it tough to choose. I went with the BLT on sourdough, served with a pickle spear and thick-cut potato chips. It totally hit the spot. The bacon they use is fantastic. My friend ordered the Sriracha Melt (ham, pepperoni, mozzarella, jalapeños, and sriracha mayo grilled on white bread), which also came with chips and a pickle. Immediately devoured. The salads looked incredible....the table next to us ordered a couple and they looked absolutely divine. Next time for sure. The adjacent market is a must-browse too. It's packed with specialty products and rare finds that you don't see everywhere, making it easy to walk out with way more than you planned. Great food, great service, and a fun market to explore. Highly recommend stopping in if you're anywhere near West Allis.

But once you know where it is, it's easy to find and worth it. I went in during lunch one day and it was quiet. The hours are limited, as they close early afternoon. I had a great conversation with the owners and cook, Gus, and his lovely wife behind the counter. I ordered the lamb gyro plate with the french fries - and Gus said, you can get fries anywhere, try my rice! And so he served up the rice and asked me to try it right then and there. I asked for my feta on the side, and again he was insistent I try it then. The portions are gigantic - it was enough for at least 2 meals. We talked about his background in ethnic cooking. I was impressed they opened up around the time Covid-19 was raging and they've managed to stay in business despite opening up during a difficult time. The food was good, the portions are generous, making it a good value for the money, I enjoyed meeting the proprietors, and I'm looking forward to returning and trying out some of his soups and other lunch items.

Gus clearly loves his job, and it shows in the food and the service. My wife ordered sausage and French toast, which was wonderfully eggy and rich. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito -- delicious, served with a perfect (for me) salsa -- medium heat and rife with cilantro. The place had just opened for the day and we were the only ones there. The place is large and clean; understated but inviting. Gus doted on us, bringing out some freshly fried tortilla chips for me to enjoy with the burrito and salsa. The seasoning on the chips was a nice touch. The burrito was humongous -- too big really, as we had no way to store it, but we're not going to ding a place for that, and if you can take home leftovers, it's two meals for the price of one. Gus is a gem -- a wholehearted, full FIVE STARS for this place.

The special was a giant…read moreburger that my new friends at the bar were splitting, but most of the menu is set up more family style - divided by plate size. The waitstaff will walk you through how that works your first time. We started with some of the taste & share plates - showing off WI cheese to the out of towners - and then a few people shared some gnocchi and beef tartare while a couple people got burgers. We had maybe 4 bites leftover, and no room for dessert, it was a personal victory. I'm sad I didn't get photos because I love the feel of each unique area that's here. The restaurant is bigger than you think because it's subdivided into smaller rooms. We had a group of 7 for a work event (which meant I kept my phone put away) and were in a cozy little nook in the back by ourselves, I'd never even noticed this little spot. What a fantastic time we had!

At that time we were easily seated in the main dining area, but there were quite a few full tables already seated. Our service was excellent and friendly, thanks to Elly. The main dining room is not large. It remains fairly cozy and seating spills over to high top tables in the liquor store area, but no one was seated there during our visit. We started with the twin mushroom handpies - Local Mushroom Duxelles, Shredded Saxony and Montamoré, Sherry Syrup, Thyme Almond Gremolata. They took a long time to come out from the kitchen, which was understandable since they were baked in house, but they were still a little raw on top. Nonetheless, they were the best bite I had all evening. I had the Root Vegetable Agnolotti - Black Garlic Pasta, Sweet Potato And Ricotta, Celery Root Soubise, Toasted pine Nuts, Crispy Parsnip and Sage, Basil Oil. It was interesting and I enjoyed trying it, but I wasn't blown away. The sauce was thick and the filling was similar in texture and the overall effect was kind of muddy and smushy. It was helped by all the toppings, but this wasn't a home run. BF had the Tuesday burger special, in this case a Bacon Barbecue - Prime beef, coffee BBQ, crispy onion strings. He enjoyed it quite a bit and said the barbecue sauce was not too overwhelming. It was a big burger and quite filling. I had a Manhattan and a glass of wine - both of which were very good. They offer up a celebration dessert - an unbaked cheesecake slice with chocolate sauce and cherries. It was a nice light bite to end the dinner and we enjoyed it. I will say that I find their pricing to be somewhat aggressive. Several of their appetizers, sharables and sides are priced like main dishes and their main dishes are priced as if this were a high-end steak house instead of a more casual eatery. My pasta was fairly good, but more than a steak at comparable restaurants at $33. It was not THAT good.

My order consisted of jerk egg rolls and a jerk chicken plate with rasta mac and sweet plantains for the sides. The jerk egg rolls were good, but I don't think they're my favorite in the Milwaukee area. One of them had a large piece of green pepper in it, so I assumed the other two would as well, but I didn't find it in the others. Other than the green pepper in the one egg roll they were filled with just chicken and cabbage, so not a ton of varying flavors. The rasta mac is mac and cheese with some diced peppers mixed in. The peppers added a little flavor to the mac, but were also easy to pick out for those that don't like peppers. The plantains were probably the best I've had. They were a little mushy instead of hard, which I liked, and their sweetness was apparent. The jerk chicken in the plate came with half a chicken and relied on rub instead of sauce, which worked for me since that's how I prefer jerk chicken. I do think there's room for them to go a little heavier on the rub without making it too hot for most people.

The prices are outrageous for the tiny portion sizes, although I couldn't eat even the small amounts given since it was all so disgusting. It's $28 for sour fried chicken with an artificial "sauce" and elementary school cafeteria quality Mac and "cheese." An order of plantains is $5 for four mushy little nubs. $7 for one smelly beef patty. $6 for "coco" bread that is really just a stale dinner roll. Everything was just thrown haphazardly into small, open plastic bags. Seriously, don't order from this sad excuse for a restaurant
