The biggest issue is them being lax with the toppings. 5 or 6 olives, 4-5 pickles, or 1 onion ring on a foot long. Most subways put 5 tomatoes on, not this place 4 if you're lucky. I had such a great experience here at Lambert's Café in Sikeston, Missouri. I can't believe it's…read moretaken me so long to get to this destination restaurant that's famous for its tossed rolls that are thrown to the patrons when brought out by waitstaff to feed the diners. They sure do feed you well too. The dishes they serve are hardy southern food and very filling. They will also bring out more items to feed you as you dine as well and you won't leave hungry. I thought the side dishes stole the show for me especially the rolls, fried okra and black eyed peas were some of the best I've ever had. Now I'll want to go back whenever I'm passing through that part of southeast Missouri. It's a really cool looking restaurant inside and out with lots of memorabilia on the walls especially all the license plate plates. I had the chicken fried steak that came with mashed potatoes right on top and white gravy and it was savory and very good. For the two sides with my main dish I ordered green beans and white beans. It was a heavy meal, but I managed to put away almost all of it along with scoops of extra okra, fried potatoes, tomatoes and pasta in a side dish, and black eyed peas. I could only manage to eat two of the famous big rolls and had one with a helping of sorghum syrup they put on it which I rarely ever see anymore. I grew up on this very kind of food with my southern parents cooking so this place really hit the spot and I felt nostalgic to me.

This was the lunch spot with a surprisingly high number of reviews for a small city in MO compared…read moreto all the other restaurants and I don't think it's a real number. The place is nice and modern looking/loud with the noise traveling all over like a noisy bar. The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town.
