This was the lunch spot with a surprisingly high number of reviews for a small city in MO compared to all the other restaurants and I don't think it's a real number. The place is nice and modern looking/loud with the noise traveling all over like a noisy bar. The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town. read more

This is our go-to for a good and fairly quick lunch when down in Poplar Bluff area. Service was great today, quick and friendly which is always a big plus. I got the club and it was one of my favs off their menu so far. It was toasted and the cheese was perfectly melted-REALLY GOOD!! I just wish they had Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero but oh well I guess I shouldn't drink sodas anyways so not too big of a deal. First off, our waitress Sarah was EXCELLENT! We all enjoyed what we ordered, but the kitchen forgot the bacon on my burger. Sarah brought it as I was finishing, so it was like a dessert. Wow! From the C&W Bloody Mary to the chicken & dumplings to the salted caramel latte...ugh. So delicious! Everything that was served to us was amazing. The Bloody Mary was a little too spicy for my wife but it was glorious to me and I don't even like bloody Mary's. I had the Sasquatch wrap with a cup of soup and that wrap wasn't what I was expecting. I was expecting a cold wrap with deli meat and instead received a hot wrap oozing with flavor from real smoked Turkey. My wife ordered the patty melt and fries and she wasn't disappointed. First of all, our waitress was great so no complaints there. However, this restaurant is dirty, the food takes too long, and the bathroom is horrendously dirty. We were 6 seated tables, with a total of 12 customers. We waited over 30 minutes for our food. The food only tasted soso, and my smash burger was so salty that it tasted like a hot dog. Whoever cleans the bathroom doesn't know how; this is a reflection of bad management. There is old grime everywhere in the bathroom, with dirty dried drip marks on everything. I don't think the wall under the paper towel dispenser has ever been cleaned. The floor has old black grime all around the edges and packed in the corners. This makes me wonder how dirty the kitchen must be. We will never return. read more

We were in Poplar Grove overnight and chose Bread and Butter as a place to eat our early dinner because of others' reviews. We found the place less than we had hoped. Our waitress didn't write down our order so she had to come back to check if what she thought we might wanted was what we actually wanted. I got a nice turkey sandwich on focaccia. The bun was good, so was the turkey, but there was not much turkey. I had asked that the onion that comes with it be held back along with the dressing. Instead, I asked for a little mayo. For that switch, I was subject to an upcharge, so I questioned that, with well-mannered disappointment when I checked out. The server hadn't told me of the upcharge. At the register, things with the server and, I guess, her employer got frosty. I was told there are always upcharges for changes. Really, even when one tries to save a restaurant's profit margins by not getting something they will only have to throw it out? Being in business is not easy, especially these days. But with few people in the restaurant in the later afternoon, a little better treatment and interaction could have left me writing a glowing review instead of the mediocre affair I have written. read more

I got a broccoli bowl soup and a coffee. I'm not sure if the reason of the soup being watery was cause it was a to go order or it was the last of the batch or something. I was disappointed with my order. There is a few pieces of broccoli but it's 98 percent liquid without any texture it was also a little too salty. Stopped in to order lunch to go and a waitress quickly greeted me and informed me of menu location and to order from the counter. The cashier was just as friendly and service was extremely efficient, only several minutes from ordering to leaving. Cons: Ordered the club on croissant w/ honey mustard on the side. Order ticket was correct, but kitchen still put dressing on the sandwich. Not a deal breaker, but restaurant wasn't busy so mistake seemed more like a careless oversight. The sandwich itself was ok. Lettuce & tomato were fresh (+), but other ingredients were mediocre and tasted like a gas station sandwich, which is something I often will eat, but at a price point almost half of this sandwich's cost. Bacon was cold and nothing on the sandwich is toasted/melty to make it more tasty than a quick grab & go item. Premium fruit side was an additional $1; again, not a deal breaker but the serving size is extremely small (a 1/2 cup of mixed fruit that also seemed overpriced for what it was). I was excited to try the gooey butter cake since it definitely looked homemade, but it was mostly a graham type crust with not a lot of flavor. The efficiency of the order would convince me to come again if other lunch lines look pretty busy, but I'm not sure if I would come back based on the food alone. We tried to order delivery as it states delivery but there is no delivery. We ordered one naked burger with a bun and a Cesar salad Was more croutons than salad, but no silverware for the salad also missing avocado on the burger. That is the reason I ordered the burger. Also ordered the cheese burger with the pickles and a side of pickle chips. The burger was greasy and the pickle chips were slightly spicy breading but no pickle taste.
