We planted six Redwood trees in our backyard in 1996 when they were 5 feet tall. By 2025 they were 60 feet tall and heavy with growth. It was frightening to watch their branches bounce violently in storms, and when the soil was saturated you could feel them gently lift the ground beneath your feet as they swayed. Prevailing winds blew toward our home, so we knew the trees posed a real danger. But after seeing so many trees in our neighborhood butchered by "professionals," it was hard to trust someone to selectively thin our trees. Jose put us at ease. The tree was probably the tallest in the neighborhood, and had branches that hung over my roof and my neighbor's roof. First of all, tree service pricing are over the place. I used one tree guys couple of times and he was reasonable. But this time his bid was 50% higher than the lowest bid. This is only reviewing for the quality and efficiency of the job and not the "price" of the job. Jose and his crew was very efficient. The job is to remove the tree fell down already. - Unlike some bidders, who tried to scare you to do the job quickly, exaggerating the work involves and using his communication skills to put fear in you to commit for him to do the job. Jose came, survey the situation, and gave me the costs of the job. Straight and direct. He also made it clear the stump will be charged separately and gave me a total cost. - When we found out a small tree was "forgotten" to remove due to miscommunication. He didn't even bother asking for more money, he just said. Considered it done. (remember, this is one of the lowest bid) - 3 hours after we talked on the Saturday, he and his crew came stabilized the tree (It already fell) and as promised did the stump because he got equipment on Saturday.
