The employees are so knowledgeable and their goals are for tree health, not cut down and remove. Although if there is a situation of a very unhealthy tree, the first step is discussing a plan on how to make it better. Removal is last resort, so when that is needed - they are professional, safe and clean. They provide info on native species to replace any tree if they were removed or if you want to add more trees. Always check with your city BEFORE removing trees, you usually need a permit and if you know ignore this rule and are caught later - the fines are HUGE. (This didn't happen to me, I have read this directly from my townships website.)

My experience has ranged from a single guy with ropes and a chainsaw, to a dozen men with heavy equipment deployed by a general-like figure barking orders and managing the job. The one redeeming part of my experience with The Lumberjacks was that they were able to get my large dead tree removed relatively quickly in the midst of a global pandemic. Originally it was going to take several weeks for them to arrive. But when I asked if there was any way to expedite the process, I was told "yes" if I was willing to pay a rush charge of $50. On a job that was going to cost over a grand, that was the bargain of the decade. The Lumberjacks brought a three person crew along with a lift that looked a little bit like a tank. We walked around the property to talk about other work I wanted done beyond the tree removal, and was quoted a price on the spot. I agreed, and the crew spent the rest of the day cutting wood. After they were done, I asked to be walked around to inspect the work. What I didn't see at the time was the damage that was caused to my property. I spoke to someone at my insurance company. They told me to call the tree trimmers. After calling The Lumberjacks to discuss the matter, I was unceremoniously directed to some fine print on the bottom of the estimate that said the company was not responsible for damages, or some such. Well, that just sucks. Now, by solving the problem of the dead tree, I have another problem to solve. And we're still in the midst of a global pandemic, which just makes everything harder. This was not the kind of experience that would encourage me to call The Lumberjacks again if I need additional tree work, nor would it give me the confidence to recommend them to others. I'm sure they work on lots of houses without doing damage. I'm sure mine was a rare fluke. And ultimately, it's less about the damage itself than it was about how this unfortunate situation was handled.

I had a dying tree in my front yard that I've intended for some time to have removed, but suddenly…read more(in a bitter cold spell) I discovered that a 50 ft tree in my back yard had a serious split that would cause a major limb to fall on my house and the electrical line. Everyone I dealt with - Raell, Kane, and Gordon - made it clear that they took it very seriously and readjusted their schedule to ensure that it was taken care of as soon as possible - two days after I accepted their estimate. Because access to the back (fenced) yard was very tricky (another company wanted to drive over my neighbor's yard and take part of the fence down) they were able to bring a large machine that parked in my front yard and skillfully reach over the house to cut it down and remove the wood over the roof (!). They had both trees down in one day, with no damage, and all through the process they were very concerned for my safety and convenience. It was not the cheapest estimate I received, but I definitely felt more confident in their capability to do such a complicated job and I felt all through the process that I was in good hands. I definitely recommend them.

The whole process could not have not been any easier! Gary quoted the job while I was at work so…read morehe came by the next day for us to sign the contract. We just bought the house in the late winter and he walked around the property with us and told us what kind of trees we had (to me, a tree is a tree). He explained what was going to bloom and when. We learned so much about our landscaping from him! The project involved cutting down a spruce tree that was touching a chimney (fire hazard, says homeowners insurance) and trimming a locust tree that was touching the garage roof. Thankfully he prepared me that locust tree had not been trimmed in very long time and had a lot of dead branches in it so they would wind up cutting it back by about a third. We still had not moved in yet and the crew was well into the job when I arrived the day they started the work -- and I'm so glad Gary mentioned that they would be cutting it back the locust tree so much. In hindsight, it really needed it! I saw the limbs and branches that were on the ground and they were in bad shape. The crew manager explained that the guy removed the dead stuff and cut it back off the roof and was in the process of shaping the tree so it was aesthetically pleasing. It wound up looking very good and I'm excited to see how it looks once it has leaves (should be soon as we're mid-April). The crew was in and our fairly quickly. The cleanup was amazing!
