I called Sir William's Gardens to get some ideas on perennials that I could plant in my front…read moregarden. The house is new and the prior owners were much more into landscaping than my hubby & myself. Apparently they had begonias in the particular bed but I wanted something different. Firstly, if you call Sir William's, make sure you know a little about your garden. Size, sun exposure, etc. These were all things that I was embarrassingly uninformed about, making our discussion more of a hypothetical. However, he was able to talk me through some of the industry terms, and helped explain to me the definitions & requirements of some plants such as "Partial light" and "Full sunlight." Fifteen minutes later, I had a long list of possible candidates for my flower bed, and idea of what they would look like, websites to use as references and local growers/stores that I could contact who typically carry these plants and tend to have quality products. For someone new to the concept of gardening, this 15 minutes was so worth it and I never felt dumb or foolish asking questions or answering his questions. Recommend Sir William's to anyone with landscaping/gardening needs!
