They do great work at a fair price! The guys are all professional and clearly take pride in their work. When they're done, the area surrounding their work is left cleaner than when they started. I will continue to call on them for all my commercial and residential tree removal/trimming needs. read more

I'd like to say something about their work, but never got to experience it. Dean gave me an estimate on July 15 which I accepted on the spot. After 10, yes 10, weeks and numerous calls, I had my work was done by another company within 4 days of their quote. Go with somewhere else!!!! read more

Dean the estimator arrived one day after my request. Price was very reasonable. The job was completed within one week and the stump and root grinding was exactly what I wanted. I was given the senior discount without having to ask for it. Great company from my experience. read more

I highly recommend Hortons Tree Service. After getting several other quotes to remove a large tree in my backyard, I decided to go with Hortons. I definately made the right decision. Ryan and the other eight members of the team were professional, knowledgeable and so meticulous removing the 40-year-old Maple tree. They left my property and all surrounding areas better than before they arrived. Kelsey from the office was so helpful during the scheduling, answering my questions and keeping me updated as to when the work would be done, based on the weather. Will definitely use them again. read more

Triple update!! Had the crew out on my terms this time! Same crew, same experience. I just TRUST these guys. You should too. Crane skills on 1000 percent. Again, not a leaf left behind. read more

A few months ago I Hired Horton to trim 4 trees. The maple is loaded with dead branches hanging over garage and yard. I wanted Ash in front to be trimmed far from the roof. Overhang still at gutters edge. Will need to be trimmed again this year. 2 side trees in back overhang in my neighbors yard. I requested to hack them down. I wasn't home during the trim. None of tyke branches on neighbors side were touched but branches all on my side totally removed. Will not hire again. Almost $1400 to a company that doesn't recognize dead branches nor follows orders. read more

Horrible service... On March 12, 2024 they came out to trim a tree. All I asked is "make the tree safe". So limbs would not fall on my garage or in the neighbors yard. I was working from home in a Teams meeting when I was asked did the tree look okay. I ran outside and said again just make it safe. I went back to work. I paid them in full that afternoon on my credit card. At around 7:00pm that evening I went out and noticed a pretty large broken limb on a branch they trimmed lower. I called Horton's the next morning left a message to come back and remove the branch. I have called them no less than 4 times and the branch is still there. I have been told twice that someone will get back with me I have heard nothing! " read more

We have many mature trees and over the years we have used multiple tree services. Well, Horton topped them all! We had lots of storm damage and this crew came in as scheduled, completed job quickly, cleaned the entire area, all for a fair and honest price. And these guys are skilled! The foreman, Ryan, kept it all organized and professional while walking me thru the areas discussed to ensure they were doing exactly what we wanted. If you need any tree work done, Horton's crews go above and beyond. Horton's is our new Favorite Go-To for anything tree-related! read more

Don't hire them. Cranky old guy came with his crew early, started work fast, started packing up to leave and never once spoke to me to confirm I liked the job. God forbid you speak to a woman. I told him I wanted more taken off and he yelled at me that his crew was already packed up and had to get to next job. But they were already ahead of schedule with me? Sure...Long story short, the branch I said was hanging down just came down yesterday approx 2 years later. No biggy for a man. For a middle aged woman who lives alone, I have to hire another tree service. Won't be this testorone laden (or prob low T), cranky foreman, "I gotta get home to my buddy, Bud Lite" tree service. read more

prompt service in an emergency situation. Cleaned up everything. Amazing crane skills.

Crew was professional. Demonstrated outstanding workmanship and utilized state of the art equipment. Problem was it took them 2 months to schedule the job. It should be noted my initial request was made in early March after an ice storm and that Hortons chief competitors in the area declined to even respond to give an estimate. Maybe they deserve that 5th star after all ! read more

We had gotten several tree service quotes in early July and decided to go with Hortons. They told us they would be out in 2-3 weeks. It has now been almost 7 weeks. We have called 5 times and the receptionist never seems to know what is going on. "I'll look into it and call you back" She did not call back so we did..."I'll let them know you have been waiting" a week later... "They should be out by the end of the week or early next week" they were not... "they should be out next week"... and they were not. DO NOT TRUST THIS DISORGANIZED BUSINESS! We have reached out to other locals that have used them and only 1:6 had something positive to say. read more

4 months later and I have not heard from them. I contracted to have a tree trimmed and they didn't have the courtesy to even call to cancel. 8/5/20-12/7/20 ! The two times I was able to have conversation with someone, they lied! I was being patience because I understood that Covid could have had had them backed up. The sad part is when I contracted with them. They could get me in the next week. Then it was 3 weeks behind and again another couple of weeks. I knew then, it was a lie. I just let it play out and today 4 months later, I haven't ever had a call initiated by them explaining the disrespectful neglect in completing the service. 0 stars on the poor customer service and a -10 on how to run a business. We had a fairly positive experience with Horton's. Unfortunately, several of the trees in our yard had started dying and we were forced to do something about it, despite our desire to try and save the trees. We called Horton's and got an amazingly cheap price for the removal of four trees, one of them a fairly large maple tree. Horton's crew arrived en masse with a lot of workers onsite and at least two large trucks. They seemed to be organized and appeared to be experienced. We were shocked at how quickly they completed the work and they left the our yard in good condition and cleaned up after themselves. My only gripe is that there appears to be some minor communication issues and I'm not sure whether that lies with Kelsey (the gal who answers the phone and takes messages), Dean (the crew foreman) or between the two of them. We had requested that we be notified when the work would occur since we wanted to be present. We weren't notified and luckily we were home when they arrived. Other than that, it was a positive experience with Horton's and we'd definitely consider using them again. We also didn't have any issues with the husband/wife team that they subcontract to for the stump grinding and my husband was entranced by their remote control equipment. read more

I had a big tree and a big problem. I needed a tree chopped down and some shrubs dug up so I can get my sewer repaired. If it weren't for the phone communication, this would be a five star review. All the other tree services I called were talking over two months or just didn't return my contact. I explained the situation to Horton's and they said they could probably do it much quicker and would call back. I waited a week and called back. They told me, "two months and we'll call a day or two before". NOOOOO. I repeated my sewer story and said I needed somebody soon. I don't know how long the sewer is going to hold and I have other contractors to schedule, contingent on the tree and shrubs gone. They called back the next day and my tree was gone in ten days. The other contractors were stunned when I called back to schedule the rest of the project. THANK YOU, HORTON'S. read more

A couple of years ago Hortons Tree Service did a good job trimming a big tree in our yard. This year, we called them to trim a tree in our back yard. THREE times. Each time, the receptionist says someone will be out to give me an estimate that day or the next day. THREE times? Why? I guess they don't want customers? read more

Sadly, we had to remove a huge black walnut in the middle of our backyard. Horton's crew arrived on time and carefully moved some very large equipment into place and went to work. The guys were very communicative throughout the process, and took down the tree in a matter of hours. Not a sliver of damage to the property, and extensive cleanup. I removed some stray twigs and the tree was literally all gone. A little pricey for us, but worth it. From the first phone call to the final clean up, this company was as professional as it gets. read more

Horrible service! They cut my neighbors tree down today in our mobile home park and left a huge mess! I have at least 3 inches of wood chips piled up against my mobile home because they were so unprofessional not to clean it up. They just leaf blew it every where!! And it wasn't even my tree!!! Thanks guys! read more

They were professional, fair priced, great service and cleaned up the area when their work was completed.

Absolutely nothing but a positive experience with Horton's. Dean and the crew arrived and got right to work. We had a 40 foot Yellow Poplar that had to be removed due to some trunk damage. 8 guys, two cranes, a front end loader, 4 trucks, 6 chain saws, the partridge that used to live in the poplar tree, and 2 1/2 hours later the job was done. The young man who was doing all the climbing and the guy in the bucket did a great job of keeping the branches from falling into the gardens or on the house. The crane operators did a great job of keeping the huge pieces of limbs and trunk from hitting the house or fence. All of this was done with SAFETY being the priority. Also cleaned everything up before they left. Sure some of my grass and some garden areas took a hit but that was expected and could not be avoided. Wanton destruction of our property did not happen. Would not hesitate to call Horton's again. read more

Horton's provided service for my neighbor. As they attempted to back their giant crane into the neighbor's yard, they cut the corner leaving huge ruts in mine. They continued and backed into MY tree which is on MY property. I ran out and told them to stop but was received by the rudest people I have ever encountered. They swore at me. They told me to "go back inside and watch soap operas". They told me to get out of their way. I insisted they not damage my tree and they eventually left. I called Horton's office to speak with a manager but I never received a call back. When they came back to finish the job, they took down two big beautiful trees just to make space for their crane. Then, they took down the two trees they were paid to remove (one of them had to be removed from the home it fell on). They sure can cut trees but if you care for your property or your neighbors, find another tree service! read more

I came home after work and found that a large (1-1/2 foot diameter) tree branch had fallen on my roof. It was 4:30 pm. I called and got a live person to take my information concerning getting an estimate. She said she would check and call me back. She called back within 10 minutes and lined up someone to come the next morning at 8:30 am. The man showed up on time, gave me an estimate, said he could do it the same morning if I wanted. I did and his men and equipment were at my home within 15 minutes and 1-1/2 hours later the branch was down and removed, the yard was cleaned up and the men were done. Courteous, experienced, efficient, very reasonable in price, I was extremely happy with the experience I had with this company. I would recommend them very highly for any tree work you need. Carol S. If you are looking for a professional, conscientious, courteous, tree trimming service, DO NOT HIRE Horton's Tree Service from Garden City. After camping out on our front lawn, running through it with a crane and then attempting to back though a beautiful (city protected) tree in our front yard, we told them to get off our property. They replied, "We can do what the Fbleep we want. Go back in your FbleepING house," among other choice words.(yelp won't print what they actually said. Aparently they are more professional than HTS) Did I mention this was all being done when my NEIGHBOR hired them to take down a tree in her yard? When they weren't allowed to bully their way across our property they packed up and left, leaving the job half done. They came back only after the tree they abandoned fell on the neighbor's house. When I went out to take pictures of my yard that they AGAIN started running through and had already shown no regard for, they AGAIN started yelling at me and calling me names. I am standing on MY property, taking pictures of MY yard and that is wrong according to Horton's Tree Service. Many professionals have worked on neighbor's houses and have always proactively told us what they were doing or even asked permission to come onto the property in the course of their work. I was approached by NO ONE and then attacked anytime I stepped out on my own property. Be warned. If you see Horton Tree Service anywhere in your vicinity they will tear down and destroy anything in their path at will and have no regard for nature, neighbors, or professionalism. read more

My neighbor contacted Hortons to trim her oak tree in her backyard this past winter. The day they picked to do this was a rainy very muddy day. They moved their heavy cherry picker rig between our houses to access the back yard. The heavy equipment got stuck in the mud and they had to send another truck out to pull it out. The heavy equipment caused deep ruts and damage to the lawn. My neighbor said she called the owner who came out. He said something to the effect that it will be ok , it will fill in. This company has no respect for your property and absolutely no commom sense. read more

My neighbor unfortunately selected Horton's. They did a horrible job, but more importantly for me, the cut limbs off my tree - with no cause, and without asking. the damage from their trucks on our lawn will take a long time to repair. I'd never deal with such an awful company. read more

Apparently I should have read these reviews before calling Horton's Tree Service. I was given their name as a referral from a friend. I called and talked with a very pleasant young gal on Thursday, June 23. I am not located very close to them so my first question was did they service my area. They said yes. My next question was how soon to which she replied Saturday, and that one of 2 guys would contact me with the time. Great! They close at 5 on Friday and no one had called me with a time for Saturday so I called them at 4:53. I spoke with the same gal who checked and told me they'd be out between 11 and 12 Saturday. No one called or showed up. I called just before 1:00 and was told we'd have to reschedule. The gal had the estimator call me. He then told me he was on his way to my house and got called back to another location. (At that time he should have called me to say he wasn't coming but didn't.) I told him how he had been referred to me and that I needed someone reliable. He appreciated being referred to me and said he understood my need for a reliable person. He told me that he would come out the next morning between 8 and 10. I told him he would have to make it 8 as I had a later commitment. He agreed. Well 8 came and went and he did not. He called at 8:27 saying he wasn't going to make it and asked to reschedule again. I said no. He tried to convince me saying this wasn't his usual service area, however, I told him I knew that, and it had been my first question to their company when I called. I told him I needed a reliable company and he had shown me that Horton's was not. read more
