TERRIBLE! Completely hacked my crabapple tree, they had no idea how to trim a tree properly. They were pulling branches down with a rake, ended up breaking many & did not trim the branches over my neighbors driveway (which is main reason I wanted tree trimmed) Crewman told me "don't worry, your tree will puff back out" I have left multiple messages for owner to return my call & he has not, even though the receptionist said she gave him the messages. The estimate gave a Senior discount and was very good compared to other estimates. I am very happy with the way Dearborn Tree Service handled the job to take down my tree. The time it took to get an estimate and schedule time to have the job done was very fast and efficient. The crew was very friendly and professional. Before they left, they removed every part of the tree except for the mulch from the tree stump. They even raked the yard, blew the leaves, picked them up, and took them with them. The price was the lowest and they gave me a senior discount. We had a large spruce tree removed from our front yard by Dearborn Tree Service, and I definitely recommend them. Randy came out for a quote a few days after I called (the receptionist Mickey is very nice), and left it in my mailbox, the price was very reasonable. I contacted them first during the shut down, but once they knew when they were able to open up again Randy called me and set a date for the crew to come. It was very fast and efficient, the tree was very large and they got it down in a couple hours. Definitely will call them if I need anything else done! read more

If I could give negative stars I would. Had an appt for them to come out and cut down one tree and remove a section of another tree that had a crack in the trunk/ limb. Thought I had explained it well to Randy when he gave the estimate. When the crew came out the said it was only for the dead limb not the whole section. That a small section of little limbs were too close to the power lines and DTE would have to come out. They said they would honor the quote but DTE would have to come out. I said fine as long as the entire section was removed. Next thing I know they're pulling off. No word no nothing called the office no explanation said Randy would call. That was 8 hours ago. Although the cost of trimming and removing big trees is expensive, we made the decision to do the work. I understand a little bit about tree trimming and was very pleased with the work. I made it clear I did not care about damage to the fence and was told they would be able to remove the tree so I could put up my fence this summer. They purposefully piled the tree chips in a way to hide that a section of the stump 70"x13" was still left over. After calling, and playing phone tag for several days, I was told they wouldn't help and was hung up on mid sentence as they have many other calls to take. Very unprofessional. read more

The woman on the phone was extremely rude, and zero personal skills. I asked them to come out and give me a quote to have a large stump removed. A man came out and told me $125. So I called a few weeks later to have them come out and remove the stump, and when the man came out he said $125 was only to remove it. It would cost an additional $100 if I wanted it hauled away. And to top it all off, I had a coupon from a local paper that I tried to tell the woman on the phone about, and she said, "Our quote already included all coupons and discounts". Very shady dealings. I have never had anything but GREAT service from this crew. I've used Dearborn Tree Service for several years. There was a problem the first time they trimmed for me HOWEVER, the owner, Randy had his team correct it immediately and did not charge me until it was fixed and I was satisfied with the outcome. This is the hallmark of GREAT customer service. I used them again in June 2015 and, once again, GREAT results. (1) They arrived within the time frame they said they would; (2) The crew-lead reviewed the service order with me to ensure what they were going to do met my request & expectation; (3) They worked as a team, safely and efficiently; (4) They cleaned up as they worked and even left my place a little better than they found it by cleaning up a pile of weeds I had sitting there waiting for me to clean up! (5) My landscaping under the one tree was not distributed one bit because they cleaned up very carefully and thoroughly. (6) Every crew member was polite, professional and friendly. Another important note: Dearborn Tree Service is fully insured and they share that information with you. This is VERY important since, if you hire someone without proper coverage and someone get hurts, you can be held liable and can be sued for damages. Not the case with Dearborn Tree. I can't make review of work that this company provides, it's more about their customer service. I needed my tree serviced, so I had gotten estimates from 3 tree services. Initially I probably would have chosen this one. However, after having a conversation with their receptionist, who was pretty rude, decided to use another service, which was also priced slightly higher than Dearborns estimate. That was the reason I called back. Was told the person who estimates would contact me. Never happened. Maybe they should trim the receptionist and hire a new one! read more

They came out and did an estimate for trimming the large bushes in our backyard, as well as removing two stumps that another company never came back to do. The price was a steal, so we set up a date for them to do the job. We were at work we they came out, so we were in for a surprise when we got home. First off, they trimmed the wrong trees. Secondly, they left all of the mulch from the stumps they ground. We didn't realize they didn't clean that up as part of the job. It was everywhere, all over our patio, and all through the grass. It's next to impossible to clean up, as you can't rake it up. You get what you pay for. Save your money and hire one of the more reputable services, like Art's. read more

HEADS UP PEOPLE. This company cut down my neighbors tree from MY BACKYARD while I was at work without anyone from their company consulting me first. They damaged my shed, and siding on my shed and my lawn in the process in April 2019. They said they would repair all damages but only placed my shed back on its foundation. Never once have they called me to fix it. I've had to call several times and nastily they say they are looking into it. Reading the not so good reviews, I'm a bit puzzled, but maybe because my service was done mid-November, I had great service. I needed an entire tree cut down and remove the stump. Randy came out to do an estimate when they said he would, he called me back the next day to confirm my appointment after I accepted the quoted price and the team came out a week later as scheduled and on time. The crew was really nice to me when I went out to chat with them. The only concern I had (but ended up with everything going well) is handing over a check to them before the entire work was done. After the tree was cut down, they told me the guy who grinds up the stump will come either later in the day or the next day. Weary, I made sure on my check I wrote "tree stump still needs removing". Just so happened after the crew left, the guy who removed the stump arrived less than 5 minutes after they left. He did a great job, all went well. Horrible horrible company. I called them to come give an estimate at my mother-in-law house, she 72 of age lives alone. I called the secretary was very rude to me on the phone. I tried to ask questions she said she didn't have time but took my personal information and that someone will call me and set up a day and time to meet, I requested that someone will call to set up a day and time to show them what I want done. Days go by no calls from them. July 13, 2020 I get two calls and my mother in law calling that the guy is here for the trees. I rushed over to her house to meet the guy. He never introduce himself, so I don't know his name. He was rude. I asked if his the owner . He said yes. I explained to him what I requested from secretary, his response he was never told. I started to explain what I want done, he said "I know". Lol. They run a coupon of 25%off . They increased the price so much that even with the coupon still higher then the other two companies I received estimates from. He goes on telling me he does 56 estimates a day. Very rude individual and company. I would not higher them even if they give 50%-75%off . They seem like they are going to do what they want anyone. Agree with many of the other reviews and wish I had read them before I used Dearborn Tree Service. Hired them to trim the neighbors tree and made the mistake of putting the check under the door before I inspected the job. I told Randy in great detail what I wanted done and he quoted for that (and it was not a small amount of money), but I figured I would bite the bullet to get what I wanted done. The actual trim he did do was a very small amount and they only took the smallest limbs off the tree to make the job very easy for them. I called the office twice to have him come out again (even if it meant paying a little more) and my call was never returned. Yes, receptionist is rude and argumentative almost immediately. I then called Randy's personal cell FOUR times and left a message-no return call. My husband also called his cell twice. No return call. We were never rude and just wanted to have a conversation about the work. My last message (which I'm sure he never listened to) I told him he's leaving me no choice but to post a bad review on yelp. Horrible customer service and really ripped us off. Will never use again and told my neighbors as well as the company that referred him to us. He's ruining his own reputation. I'm disappointed with the last service. They trimmed 1 tree and 3 shrubs. I specifically told the person I dealt with that I wanted three more shrubs in front of the house completely removed. Their coupon specified that they have free stump-grinding, and free deep-root fertilization for a tree, if you spent more than $150.00. I spent more than that, but they somehow did not honor the free services that they were advertising. They did this in the past with a large bush which I had removed. I called 3 times, the first time the lady who answered the phone gave me an attitude when I ask for an estimate. She asked which tree I wanted removed, they would come out and call me with estimate. I wanted 3 or 4 trees removed and 4 branches trimmed on other trees. She sighed and said someone would call me. 2 days later I got a call and he asked if he could come on Saturday as he was busy every night after 5 (which is when I get home from work) but not too early on Saturday, he would call. Well Saturday came and went, no call, no visit, no estimate. I called again and no response. Called again and said I guess I was mistaken that they wanted business. I had used this company 8 years ago and they were good. Apparently they don't need the work or the money. My rough estimate of the work I needed done I figure is 2 to 3 thousand dollars if not more. I needed to get an estimate to see what I could afford to get done now and what I needed to put off till later in the year. So my review is that they "assumed" that I had one tree. They apparently do not need the money or the business. Too bad, apparently the crew that came out 8 years ago no longer works there, and my guess is whoever this women is that called me back should not work with the public. She is just plain rude. I don't wish this for many businesses but I hope everyone stops calling and they go out of business.
